If you follow his blog, or any paleo blog - this will be very familiar - but if you're new to paleo, it's a good intro!
Ancestral diets have much to recommend them. This book does not.

The author attempts to present himself as some sort of renegade authority, but he offers no new insights. The information presented is haphazardly cobbled together from better informed sources (Mark Sisson, Robb Wolf, etc.), and some of it is out of date and/or questionable. It's poorly written, and the only research he seems to have done is to read books by Sisson, Wolf, and Art DeVany. To make matters worse, the author's tone is

An excellent book.

I got to know this book through Taleb's Amazon review. A practitioner Nikoley talks about his own researches and experiences with the Paloe lifestyle. No BS. No dogma.

Ah yeah - Free The Animal does sounds like a phrase by self-righteous vegetarian, vegan, or PETA. It is not. I'd actually say 3.5 stars, it really depends on the audience.

This isn't a book to read if you are skeptical or know nothing about the Paleo diet. It's a fast read, but it it very much a 10,000 ft view of why the Paleo diet and lifestyle is the way to go for maximal health and fat loss.

However, if you've already read a more in-depth book, are curious about the details of Paleo, or have already read either Robb Wolf's book or Mark Sisson's book, this is an excellent next step. I would highly

A reasonably good book on approximating a paleo diet/lifestyle. I would say there are better books than this: Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson, Ray Audette's Neanderthin or Robb Wolf's Paleo Solution. This is considerably cheaper than any of them(at least the Kindle version is)

I like this, it's a bit sparse, but a good refresher for someone who knows paleo, like me.

“There is new research being conducted having to do with starving cancer cells through fasting. Cancer cells can only utilize glucose, and not glycogen or ketone bodies. Moreover, cancer cells are 20–30 times less efficient at glucose utilization than normal cells. Cancer cells are real sugar addicts.” 1 likes
“What this all means is that when you fast for more extended periods, your cells clean out and recycle your intracellular garbage.” 1 likes
