A very enlightening look at the understanding of religious freedom in the United States, its origins, or NON-origins in colonial laws and life, and the inspired thinkers who framed the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. By providing a thorough analysis of the thinking, intent, and process of the framing generation, the author points out strengths and fallacies in modern thinking on this topic.

This was a library copy. I read the entire book. It is a good read, though not easy. About halfway through it became more interesting to me.

If you are interested in the framers' thinking, according to their actual writings, this is the book for you. If you want to read what you want to hear, this may not be to your liking. I don't know the author, but it seemed an objective study of where the framers of our country's constitution, bill of rights, and ammendments stood on the subject of freedom o
