Bestselling author Sarah Morgan delivers another irresistible hero in her O'Neil Brothers series who's more tempting than dessert and twice as sinful!
Fiery French chef Élise Philippe is having a seriously bad day. Not only have the opening day plans for her beloved café fallen apart, but Sean O'Neil is back in town, and looking more delectable than ever. Last summer, they shared an electrifying night together…and the memories have Élise really struggling to stick to her one-night-only rule! Her head knows that eventually Sean will be leaving, so all she can do is try to ignore her heart before she spontaneously combusts with lust.
Being back in Vermont—even temporarily—is surgeon Sean O'Neil's worst nightmare. For Sean, returning home to the Snow Crystal Resort means being forced to confront the reasons and the guilt he feels about rejecting his family's rural lifestyle years ago. But discovering that Élise has settled in Vermont and still sets his blood racing is a very welcome distraction! Thinking he can persuade her into a replay of last summer is tempting, but remembering how good they are together is going to make walking away more difficult than he could imagine…

Damn, this book made me hungry. I just want an Elise of my own to cook me all of the delicious food from this book!
I love Snow Crystal. I want to go there so badly. I seriously wish it was real. It just sounds so beautiful, so dramatic, breathtaking. I want to be in a wooden cabin by a lake in the mountains, with a hot tub on the deck. I was to look up into the sky and see the milky-way because it's so dark and peaceful.
This second O'Neil Brothers book was just as good as the first. It may be lacking in the snow that gives Snow Crystal its name, but it was just as passionate and dramatic and filled with love and lust as the first book.
I cannot wait until December when I read the next one!
Sean was kind of a jackwagon and really hard to get to like. It's not just that he's pretty callus with women, it's also that he's more than a little bit emotionally constipated just in general—and not in the cute tongue-tied way, either. Also, when he decides to get domineering, he goes way past where I'd have been hitting him with blunt objects because blunt words didn't seem to be working. Some of his interactions are almost normal, and we do see some charm from time to time, but even some of that just felt a bit too over the top to take seriously.
Élise, on the other hand, is mostly charming and engaging. I like her passion and her willingness to be open and generous with those around her. It strays a little into the French woman stereotype, sometimes, but not so far that I couldn't take her seriously as a character. No, that came when she goes all broody and hopeless. There were a couple of times when Morgan went far enough with the "damaged by past love" theme that it seriously compromised my belief in the character.
Between the two of them swinging between their separate poles, it seemed sometimes like I just had to get through the turbulence until the story settled down into something I could actually buy again. This wasn't helped by some story elements that just seemed . . . unlikely, to me.
So yeah, not nearly as good as the first. Still willing to chance the third when it comes out, though...
A note about Steamy: Two explicit scenes, though one of those is a double. So mid-level for me. Another problem with the book is that these scenes didn't really do much to establish their emotional connection. Indeed, in some respects, they work directly counter to it (in a bad way).
Ti amo e scappo... Non mi ami ma ti inseguo... No aspetta te rivoglio...
Genieten dus.
Nov. 2018: I love this series so much! I think I love the first book and couple (Jackson and Kayla) a little more than this one, although I don't dislike Sean and Elise. They just come with more drama. The best thing about this book is the setting. The Vermont forests and trails CALL OUT TO ME. The trees and forests are mentioned throughout the story, and I love that. Unlike the first and third books, this one is set during the summer, which is fun. I love the O'Neil family and I'll keep rereading these probably forever. Love, love, love.

Dec. 2016: The first book in this series is my current favorite holiday read. I love the snowy ski resort setting and the way that I feel like I'm right in the middle of the resort's cabins or forests anytime I read the story. I love that when I read the book around the holidays, it is easy to imagine all of the decorations and the scents of pine or food. I love the descriptions of the holiday festivities that are taking place. Most of all, I love the characters: the O'Neil family that owns Snow Crystal resort as well as the rest of their staff. This is a place that I want to visit and these fictional characters are people that I want to know.
With Suddenly Last Summer, the winter's charm of the resort has changed a little bit to accommodate the warmer time of year. The landscape is different and the activities taking place around the area are completely different. I loved everything that was going on, with the hiking and biking the trails, the camping, and everything about the forest and the lake. I liked summer at Snow Crystal nearly as much as I liked the cozy, snowy Christmas of the first book. The lake and the mountain hiking trails are just as wonderful to imagine (maybe this is because I love hiking and the mountains) and once again, I felt whisked away to this magical place. Along with loving the setting so much, I loved that I already knew all of the characters from the previous book, so there was no time wasted on introductions - I was immersed into the story fully from the very beginning and my investment was immediate.
This book features Sean and Elise. Sean is one of the O'Neil brothers who are part of the family that owns Snow Crystal. Elise is the French Chef that is in charge of restaurants in the resort. These two have a very brief history dating back to the summer before this book begins, but the events of that connection were short-lived and very little resulted from that connection...except a year's worth of silence and a huge, weighty emotional connection that neither one will admit to. The tension from this makes for a great story and was actually teased way back in the first book, which featured Jackson and Kayla. Naturally both Sean and Elise have issues that keep them from committing easily, which are explored over the course of the story. As I saw with Kayla's story in the first book, this author does a great job with this type of thing. She is not too heavy-handed with the character backstories and the romance is fun, with good tension -- but the story also allows family and friend relationships to shine and progress.
The way the author includes all types of relationships in these stories is why I think I love this series so much. I know that I'm loving this series more and more with every word that I read, and I know that is in large part to the progression of and inclusion of the same character relationships across multiple books. I'm eager to start the third book later today and I'm excited that it again features a winter theme at Snow Crystal since that is the season that we are currently in here in our real lives.
This is only the first series by this author that I've read but it is sitting solidly on my rereads shelf. I absolutely adore these characters and the world they live in.
At the beginning of my reading I was super happy to find again Snow Crystal and its characters. Elise (one of the main characters) is a French-born chef and her story revolves around delicious meals and pastries. It was perfect. But the small problem with this trilogy is that we have been hype about the Elise/Sean duo since book 1, that in the first 200 pages everyone makes remarks to Sean or Elise to say "Oh you love her/him?" and yet nothing happens and the two involved remain in denial about their feelings. Yes, it's getting long. Plus, everyone has their own story and difficulty dealing with a relationship which is basically interesting but when over 10 chapters the two characters repeat their problems over and over again but just from a different point of view it's just boring. I liked the end of the book until I realized Sean went from: I don't want a relationship to I'm doing too much. Overall it was fun and the place is endearing but just like the first book there is way too much repetition.
Loved it! No wonder Sarah Morgan is one of my favorite romance authors. I wish I was one of her heroines - and not only because her heroes are to-die-for. ;)
Note: I received this eARC from Harlequin via NetGalley. That had no influence on my review/rating.
This book wasn't quite as good as the first in the series, but I still enjoyed it. I think what bothered me was throughout most of the book both characters constantly spout that they are 100% against relationships and falling in love and after a while it was like, okay, enough, we get it...you don't ever want to fall in love, blah, blah, blah.
Other than that, I liked Sean and Elise very much and was entertained by the other characters. It was nice revisiting with this family that I first got to know in Sleigh Bells in the Snow.
On to book three and the last O'Neil brother's story!
Suddenly last summer is the second book in super talented author Sarah Morgan's The O'Neil Brothers Series, and this time around we finally get the low down on sinfully sexy surgeon Sean O'Neil.
He lives for his job and nothing and no one interferes, and most importantly he never let's a woman interfere with his work.
Except when news of his grandfather collapsing comes he rushes back home to Snow Crystal, to be there for his family, even knowing they most likely don't want his there. Whist there he not only faces having to face the guilt that has kept him away from the place he once called home, but there is Elise.
Beautiful, feisty and full of life Elise who last summer ripped his clothes off and devoured him for hours. They are both alike, they live for work and there is never such a thing as relationships, thus their one blazing hot night of passion was just that, one night that will forever live in their memories.
But seeing her again stirs up all the sinfully sexy memories of that night and he realizes he wants her again. Elise feels the same way, she wants Sean again and using each other for sex is perfect, no emotional attachment, no wedding bells and no planning a life of happy ever after. It's the perfect set up, friends with benefits, that is until they both start to get around to revealing the truth about the past. And analyzing it like you would a medical procedure or a baking recipe just does not seem to add up.
I have been waiting for this book since reading the first book Sleigh bells in the snow , I have been in absolute torture with wait, I wanted to get back to Snow Crystal and the amazing O'Neil family, they way they stick together to sort through lives up's and down's and of course I needed to get inside Sean's head and find out exactly why he is the opposite of his twin brother Jackson.
I was over the moon at being transported back to an amazing world of love, friendship, family and love. The author once again gave me that homey, family is everything feeling and totally blew me away with the story of Sean and Elise.
Sean's character was amazing. Him being so very focused on what he loves was incredible. His love of saving lives showed me that he is a real man through and through, he might come off as this " I only live for my job and one night stands is what I do best" man but deep down he is a very kind, caring and tender person with an extreme intellect for picking up on other's emotional turmoils. Through this character the author reminded me that everyone has a special gift in life to give, sometimes they just don't know how to fully give it and instead gives it to others than those they need to, but in a different from.
Elise was a very intense character, I loved her fire-y passion and lust for food and life. Her what you see if "what you get, and don't you dare try to discover more" attitude was a little concerning in the start, as it made me almost dislike her and I felt her a little rude, but as the author revealed the full truth about her past, I understood perfectly why she acts the way she does and why she would rather stick her own rules. Through this character I learned that even though it looks like a person is full of life and loving every minute of everything they do, it's a smoke-screen. Everyone hurts at some point and you cannot always be happy at all times it is simply not possible, so pretending to be only screams out to the world that you are in fact hiding something.
The backdrop settings were as magical as they were the first time around when I was introduced to the magic that is Snow Crystal, this time the magic of romance in the snow was gone but it was replaced with the magic of summer kisses, summer rains washing away the dirt of the past and the sound of birds chirping that made me feel so alive it was if I was right there!
The book also had one of the sexiest, most erotic kissing in the rain scenes I have ever come across! I am taking away a message of sometimes in life we need to step back into the past in order to find our way in the future.
I highly recommend this read for all fans of super sexy romance reads. Sarah Morgan is a very gifted author who's writing brings a touch of magic sparkle to the world of romance!
5/5 star review "Summer rain washes away the hurt of the past"
How could I ask for more? I kept picturing Dr. McDreamy and Dr. McSteamy when I thought of Dr. Sean O'Neil, orthopedic surgeon and resident heart breaker. Sean is not good at relationships. His job is way more important than anything else in his life. And he likes it that way. Until he meets Elise Bonnet, the charming French cook who works at his family's lodge in Vermont. Elise doesn't do relationships either, but she is attracted to Sean. The feeling is mutual, however the two don't really know it. Loved the buildup to romance in this one - it's one of those wonderful feel good novels.
I think that what made this book so enjoyable was the writing. I had never read anything by this author before but now she is definitely on my favorites list. It also helped that I've been to the area described by the book - it is the perfect place to fall in love.
The story did not only revolve around our main characters. The supporting characters - the O'Neil clan and their various partners were wonderful to be around. I loved crotchety Walter the patriarch of his family, as well as Sean's twin brother Jackson and his other brother Tyler. I enjoyed the family dynamics in the book as well.
All in all, a nice, light romance, perfect for summer reading by the pool.
*I won this book in a GoodReads FirstReads giveaway.*
Tyler works as a surgeon and he's really good at his job proving even in snow crystal how good. I'd want him as my doctor. He's so calm and confident with little Sam. It's really no wonder Elisa falls in love with him. She has demons of her own mainly regarding her time in Paris. Between Jackson and Sean they really did save her. All three Oniel brother are quite different but are all so likeable in their own way. Can't wait to read Tyler's story.
I read book one of this series almost three years ago. I remember enjoying it but not loving it, and somehow finishing up the series fell way down my TBR. But as I close out 2018, I can't seem to get enough of Sarah Morgan, and knowing book three was a Christmas book, I decided to head back to Snow Crystal and the O'Neil brothers. This book ended up taking me completely by surprise. Yes, it was fun and full of banter (often within the O'Neil family), but there was a ton of hidden depth. I often say, it's not the books I'm expected to cry at that make me cry. It's the little moments in unexpected places that get me, and that's exactly what happened in this one. Elise's story, her history, her past, got to me and I found myself in tears at various moments. The cover, title, and even blurb may suggest a lightweight, easy going story. But instead, there was so much more. Not just between the main characters but within the entire O'Neil family.
It's been awhile since I've done this, but the minute I closed this book, I immediately started book three.
First date: Sean O’ Neil is an orthopedic surgeon and a dang good one. Athletes fly in from all over the world to seek his opinion and skilled hands. Sean is a workaholic and dedicated to his life’s passion. He rarely makes time for life outside of the hospital and trips to his family’s lodge. In part to an argument with a family member. Elise Philippe has found a home at the Snow Crystal resort, far from the painful memories of Paris. Last summer she and Sean shared a passionate encounter in the woods. She often thinks about that night, and when he returns for a family emergency, she seriously considers breaking her “one-night-rule.”
Second date: You can feel the chemistry between Sean and Elise and ooh-la-la. The banter, confessions, friendship and confusion the other elitists are delightful to observe. Elise loves Sean’s family, and she helps to mend the rift between Sean and his grandfather. Sean enjoys Elise’s company, and since she does not want a relationship either, he wants a repeat of the passion they shared last summer. It was such fun watching these two fight the emotions that developed. When Elise gets passionate or angry, she drops her “h’s” and switches to French. It is hilarious. Time with family and guests made Crystal Resort come to life for me. Morgan does a wonderful job drawing the reader in with these side stories and I adored them.
Third date: *le sigh* Morgan brings such heated passion to this couple and the romantic scenes while clean bring intense heat and give you all the feels. Some of the most romantic scenes EVER! Family meddling, fear, flight, heartbreak and realizations had my emotions all over the place as we move towards the final chapters of the book. I love the late night confessions and growth in the characters. I laughed, cried and worried as I held my breath; hoping for happily-ever-after. Throughout the novel, we learn more about the other key characters, and I cannot wait for Tyler’s story. You will need truffles for the final portion of this book, but rest assured I ended this date with a smile.

Love Sarah Morgan's writing! This is the second full length novel in the O'Neil brothers series - and it's HOT!
Fiesty French chef, Elise, has to face the fact that Sean O'Neil, of the seriously HOT O'Neil brothers is back on Snow Crystal Mountain Resort. Their brief but electrifying liaison last summer is still fresh in her mind but she knows that Sean only came for his grandfather and will have to leave again and resume his career as one of the best sport surgeons. Both Sean and Elise must stop pretending that they mean nothing to each other but if that happens they will both have to go out on a limb...
This is one of my favorite series from Sarah Morgan. I love re-visiting Snow Crystal and Morgan's delightful characters and stories. There's family drama without too much angst, romance, some witty dialogue, a very cute dog, and a satisfying HEA. Now on to Book 3, my favorite!
This second installment was fabulous and I devoured in just one morning while cuddled under a blanket. It had the perfect mixture of angst and banter. I have come to really adore this family and setting. It has been the perfect series to read over the holidays.
