This book is great for parents of very little children, it is very simple, but also effective. On each page there is only a number on each page and there is only like three colors per page. There are large pictures of items you would find on a beach, like crabs or lifeguard chairs. I think that the simplicity of the book is a very effective way for young children to learn the beginning numbers. The feature that I like most about this book is that at the end there is a section for conversation starters about what each page was about. Some of the conversation starters have interactive activities, like for the page about crabs the starters ask the child how crabs walk, whether they walk forward, backward or sideways. Then asks if the child can walk like a crab. My favorite conversation starts asks the child what a lifeguard is and what they do. I think this is a great question because it raises the opportunity to educate the child on not only numbers, but also water safety and what to do whenever trouble arises in the water. As simple as this book is, I think that it is very educational in several aspects.
