Wayfarer by Janalyn Voigt was a wonderful read. The mix of fantasy and medieval elements is pleasing and her descriptions bring the world to life. The story line of rebellion and forgiveness bring the characters into being, and comparisons to modern day living run deep. I thoroughly enjoyed reading her latest book in the series and look forward to the next one...

I loved the first book of the series, and I expected this one to be a sequel. It sort of is…but not really. Both books are stand alone, though related. The quest of the The DawnSinger has been fulfilled—only the person who should be the most grateful, Elcon, the new King, can’t accept this DawnKing who seems nothing like a savior should be. Elcon banishes the youthful, obviously part Elder DawnKing and proceeds to make a disaster of his life and his kingdom.

In Wayfarer, book two in Janalyn Voigt’s Tales of Faeraven, Elderland is on the brink of civil war and Elcon, the young ruler, must try to rally support against the forces of the evil traitor, Freaer. Against the advice of trusted guardians, including Kai, he rejects an alliance with Emmerich, the ‘DawnKing’ of prophecy freed in the first book in this series. In the midst of it all, he finds love in the form of the beautiful foreign princess Aewen. A union between them pushes many of his allies ...more

I received the suspenseful, awesome, romantic, highly recommended, captivating characters, fantasy story Wayfarer by Janalyn Voigt free from Goodreads.
Wayfarer is the second book in the Tales of Faeraven trilogy and begins with Kai bringing the prophesied deliverer, DawnKing, to Lof Shraen Elcon (Lof Shraen means high king). Elcon does not believe Emmerich is the DawnKing and banishes him from his kingdom. Elcon is visiting other kingdoms to try to make peace and finds himself falling in love wi

The author seems to be aiming at readers of Feist's Empire series, but is wide of the mark. The story is rushed, with a sad lack of description of events, characters or settings. It is truly a shame, because at times there are glimpses here of a great political-action-fantasy adventure. Sadly, despite those glimpses, I could not in honesty recommend this book.

Escape into creative worlds of fiction with a multi-genre storyteller. A precocious reader from an early age, my early exposure to literature in many genres by a wide range of authors gave me an eclectic background and an intuitive grasp of storytelling.

My books all contain adventure, romance, history, suspense, and fantasy or whimsy. How these elements combine in a story determines its genre. Th
