I really loved this book. It was different to what I was expecting, but it grabbed me from the very start, and I was hooked the whole way through.

Alex is a great character. She is very relatable, and I felt an instant connection with her. We first meet her when she is walking home with her best friend from a big night out. She is attacked in the woods, and wakes up days later in a strange bed with a hot guy watching over her, and no idea how she got there.

Our hero, Nathan, explains to her that

BORING! This book was so, so, so boring. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen and nothing does. Nothing. The most interesting part of this book was the Brit slang.

You know what the whole, entire plot of this book was? What's her face, the female mc, being attacked (first chapter) and turned into a vamp-werewolf hybrid (chapter 2) and living on a farm (all the rest of the chapters). She's in seclusion because she can't come out as a vamp-were thing, obv, so she's dead to family and

First off, it just seemed strange to read a PNR by Samantha Towle. However, she did a bang-up job of it. I've enjoyed a few of her books, but none were otherworldly.

Our heroine, Alex (cheerful, resilient, loyal, funny), and her BFF get attacked on the way home from clubbing, were bitten in the gut (yuk), were bleeding out and left for dead. Here's the thing though, it's not by a Vampire! The creature shares a few characteristics, but nope, very different

Ok, so my friend Sali and I tandem read this book and, as we discussed how we would review it, she said she'd write it and I could steal bits because we pretty much had the same thoughts. thoughts mirror Sali's - though she says it so much better than I can!!!

First off, this book came along at a great time. We both needed something that would get us out of the book funk we were feeling after finishing a particularly mind f**k book. We had that post book buzz feeling and needed something

SOOOOOOOO happy I stumbled upon this book on Amazon it was AMAZING!!! I absolutely LOVED this book. I would recommend it to everyone. The story was so amazingly written! I could feel everything so clearly that the main character was going through. It so hard to put into words just how much I really loved this book, it was definitely a book that I will read again and will be thinking about for a while. I fell in love with the characters, there depth was unbelievable. I can't wait for book 2. Sama ...more

My Thoughts:

To be honest, I requested a free copy from Samantha Towle on Facebook in exchange for an honest review because I LOVE free books, and based on the cover, I was expecting to read another Twilight-esque vampire novel. Boy, was I surprised!

Samantha creates a unique world of vampires, werewolves, and shape shifters that I hadn’t expected. Add the fact that the story is set in England, where Samantha lives, and you have a wonderfully fresh setting and voice on the paranormal romance sce

If one has read recent books from Ms. Towle, it is very apparent this was written early in her career. There really isn’t a lot going on overall in this story. There are a few exciting moments at the first and last but the middle just putters. There is also no depth at all to the supposedly growing relationship between Alex and Nathan and that sex scene at the end... huh? Where did that come from? Totally weird placement!

This book ends on a huge cliffhanger, as well. SOPE.... I think I’ll
I was recommended this book by a friend, and what a good recommendation indeed! Within the first chapter, I was hooked and wanting to know more. More about the characters, more about their inner demons. Alex and Nathan have such good chemistry. Nathan is one of those characters that you share a love/hate relationship with! You get so frustrated with him sometimes and the things he says; thinking to yourself "Really Nathan? Was that comment necessary??." The wording took some getting used to (sin ...more

OMG!!! I absolutely loved this book!!!! I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I liked the way that the relationship developed between Alex and Nate. My heart hurt for all that Alex had to go through and what she had to give up in the end to keep those that she loved safe. It was one of those books that you're like NNNNOOOOOO!!!!! IM NOT READY FOR IT TO BE OVER YET!!! when it ends. I am looking forward to more books in this series and I recommend this to everyone. Samantha you are an amazin ...more

I have read alot of paranormal romance by various authors, I love it!!! However, it's one og those genre's where you can often find that one book bleeds into another and the element of surprise and that "something new" is lacking. Well all I have to say to that is if you agree you should read First Bitten (book one of a series).

This is my first Samantha Towle book and I LOVED it, she had me hooked right from the start. It's one of those books that you wish you had the time to sit and read in on

I liked the cover and initially thought oh its going to be a vampire novel, Oh Wow! I knew it would be good as I read Samantha's other book The Bringer and I loved that one. This book was much much more than a vampire story. Alex is bitten by a Várcolac, which is a vampire-werewolf hybrid.....the thing is women don't usually survive.....well....Alex does! Which means that she is very valuable to the Varcolac who obviously wish to reproduce! Alex was "Lucky" to be rescued by the gorgeous

Dear Samantha Towle, can I just tell you how much I love and adore you as a writer. You do not disappoint. You have a faithful reader in me for life. You give me the stories that have drama and heartache with the whole mystery of love. I know when I sit down and read one of your books, it will not be a waste of my time.

I was nervous when I first picked up First Bitten, but there was no disappointment. I love that the Hero, Nathan, is not perfect and that he has issues, but those issues had nothi

I hadn't read a vampire/Werewolf book since... Probably since I read Inheritance last year. Coming back to the genre with First Bitten was... Absolutely worth it.

It's about Alexandra (who likes to be called Alex), a young woman that after leaving her boyfriend and technically watching her best friend die in hands of a vampire/werewolf hybrid becomes said creature herself. She struggles to keep her humanity, while discovering she has feelings for her savior.

Hmmm... You have probably guessed I'm a

I had to immediately try another of Samantha Towle's books after enjoying the last one so much. It didn't disappoint.
I liked this book a lot. I wouldn't say I loved it but it is still a great read. I really liked Alex but at times I felt like I wanted her to be a tad more....something. She spent the majority of the book feeling sorry for herself and clinging to Nate and his family even knowing she was putting them in danger. MaybeI'm just so used to strong, independent, kick @ss heroines in PNR

I read this book in one sitting. It was that different and interesting. The characters are like anyone in your life there are things you like and things you don't about each one. The book started with a bang slowed down a bit but the good part of this is you could not guess where it was going. Not everyone in the family was likeable but that is the way it is in reality. I read both of her books and it seems to be the way she writes so I say for less than a dollar you cannot go wrong with this bo ...more

The characters are believable - moody, selfish, stubborn, name it and there's at least one character that's going through it.

The author does a good job of showing how alone, conflicted, upset, etc the main character (Alex) is. The entire book is filled with narration, so be prepared for a LOT of talking. Most of the time it didn't bother me, but towards the end I was a bit frustrated at the lack of action (in more ways than one, coughcough).

I think the most exciting part of the bo

Apart from the slight over use of the word "bloody" in the first chapter, I thought this one was pretty good =]. I kinda feel like the author was trying to cram in every profanity that she could think of in the first chapter, not that I'm a prude or anything (haa!), but it all just seemed a little OTT.
I liked the love/hate relationship between Alex and Nathan and I did like the ending, even though it was bittersweet (I'm sure we haven’t heard the last of them though). I feel the author held bac

A woman is attacked by a Vârcolac (a nightmarish vampire-werewolf hybrid) and becomes the first female EVER to survive, making her very much sought after for breeding purposes. She is rescued by a moody shifter and his awesome family, but soon finds she is in BIG trouble in more ways than one!

ANOTHER supernatural twist that had me hooked after about page 15. The story is detailed, dark, and edgy, the characters range from upbeat and loving to brooding, just like 'real' people in a family!

I'm ultra-excited to have found such a brilliant new series! First Bitten is Book 1 in The Alexandre Jones Series and I devoured it in a day. I don't want to give anything away, so all I'll say is it has all the elements to make up the perfect urban fantasy: a very real and sympathetic main character, a terrifying supernatural situation and the hottest love interest you could imagine. It's all these things, without being at all predictable and I can't wait for Book 2!

Congratulations, Sam Towle,

I never thought I’d say this but, so far, the summary of this book has more descriptions than the actual book. And what was left of the plot beyond the summary was kinda boring cause nothing was happening besides farm life.

My problem with this book was not so much the storyline but the writing style. First, it was written in first person present tense. It’s really difficult to write in first person present and still hold the interest of the reader, the plot, and keep all the descriptions in w
