I made a goodreads account just to rate this book. I have to say that I'm shocked. Usually, when I'm told about local authors I don't even bother - I tried to read for a couple of Khaliji authors before and I was extremely disappointed. This, however, was something else! I recieved the book from my friend, who literally begged me to read it. After I left it hanging around for days collecting dust, I finally decided to give it a try when I had nothing else to do. OH MY GOD, THIS GUY! The personality of Apathy is plain genius! I thought it was going to be one of those robot movie cliches, but I was VERY wrong. Mr. Kazeh if you ever read this, I want to apologize for all my prejudices. You, sir, deserve much more attention. I watched one of your interviews and realized that you've made everything from cover to cover. With an idea in that field, I have an understanding of what you went through. The typos and the obvious editing issues of the book almost made me drop a star from the review, but knowing the lack of resources here, and that you did the writing, editing, interior layout, cover design, etc, etc, all by yourself made me want to give you an extra! Again, it was an amazing read and will definitely recommend to all my friends.

This book has exceeded my expectations! I was slightly discouraged by the slightly uninteresting beginning of the book but continued reading nonetheless since Apathy Heavensmile was suggested to me by a Kuwaiti friend of mine, and very enthusiastically so. The author's style is absolutely wonderful, though caused misbalance at some points. The characters were very well developed and interesting, though the way the spoke sometimes made reading a little less smooth. The end of the book completely took me by surprise, though, with a story as unique as this one, i honestly didnt know what to expect. This was a beautiful novel, and i will certainly recommend it to my friends. :)

I just finished this book right now at work and as I'm writing this now my heart is trembling and tears are hanged at the edge of my eyes trying not to let them out. I just need to go home and weep in woe till I sleep and never wake up till the next day. I don't think I will write a review for this book.

I bought this book because I was captivated by the synopsis, thinking that I will read something that will be shocking and moving at the same time. Well, this book did nothing of the sort. The plot was non-existent at best, it was a cluster of random events that barely made any connection aside from the main protagonist going through them. Speaking of, the characters are another issue I faced with this particular book.
Reading a book in first person is always a fun experience to me. But this time? It felt like a punishment. The protagonist suffers from a sever hero syndrome believing that he is oh so great and he does talk A LOT. I found myself skipping through most of his ongoing monologues describing how perfect he is and how everything about his family is way too perfect to be believable. The other characters were there in the background and we barely got to know them at all.
This book didn’t pull me in as a reader. The plot was very lacking and the characters were half decent but we didn’t see much of them. None of them developed at all which kind of makes sense because we didn’t really glimpse at them aside from the protagonist’s interactions with them. The plot twists, if they can even be called that, were so rushed and out of place that they failed to captivate my attention. Honestly, the only reason I read this book so quickly is because I wanted to finish it.
Also sexism. This books was very sexist I initially took it as an attempt to subvert these themes but no, it wasn’t being subversive at all. Another reason why I literally had to force myself to finish this one.

Really interesting story line and the ending is such a cliff-hanger, but there's one thing I didn't like about his writing.. He tries too hard to show off his English by using as many big words as possible in one sentence. His poems are nice though.

I honestly DID NOT expect this book to be very good! The book at first gives you the feeling that the story is going no where and it felt like there were no "actions", just plain. but then everything gets deeper I LOVED the ending I honestly didnt expect such an ending!

I don't remember much about this book as I read it more than five years ago but I do remember the writer and his confidence that this book will impress me like no other .. apparently it didn't and i tried finding the writer again with no luck

OMG !! from where to start the plot was amazing the character were amazing the peoms were amazing this story hold all the feels horror romance crepiness.at one point i liked apathy cuz he doesnt have to feel the betrayel like ikarus did.ikarus was a amzing character packed with humore joy and the will to save others from troubles plus i loved the scene he proposes to ayra it was cute plus the ending is realllyyy creepy it was afterall apathy who turns out to be the serial killer. (WONDERFUL)

I have one word to describe this book; epic. It's one of its kind. The genre fluctuates from romance to mystery and horror. I read the novel in two days; the feeling I had the first day of reading it changed to an exactly the opposite feeling the day after.
The bewilderment factor that the story leaves the reader with makes it fascinating. Its events are written from different points of view; from Apathy's, Ikarus, and Cicilia, and readers have to determine which one of these views should they rely on. Perhaps, all of these views are reliable, but they have to be put together in order to make sense of the events (and if the puzzle of the story were meant to be solved).
All the characters are interesting, especially Apathy. His name says it all. He represents reason, and everything he tells or shows is done in a neutral approach. Thus, he stands for what most people fear and what they are in a constant conflict with; reason. Ikarus is another interesting character. His sense of humor and his jokes are crackingly remarkable.
Because the author is a poet, the language used in the narrative reflects a deep insight and a very delicate descriptions of feelings and objects. This poetic language made me experience every bit of the novel faithfully. As for the structure, it varies. Most of the times paragraphs are involved and dialogues, while at other times, journals, verses of poems, mobile chats, and emails replace normal speech. The chapters are relatively short, making it pleasurable to non-stop reading!
I would love to see a movie adaptation of this novel for sure.

More of a 4.5/5 stars to be honest.
This is the first time that i read a book by a local author here in my country.
I was not going to pick up this book because i never heard of it but when i went to the Book Fair last year, a very nice guy told me to get this book and told me a little bit of the story and i was attached to it and turns out the guy who actually told me about the book is the author himself, i realized that after i bought the book and left the place.
This story is unique and poetry plays a big part in it and to be honest, i never fell in love with poetry the way i did in this book, this poetry is written in such a beautiful way and i loved the book in so many ways.
Yes, i spend more than a month in reading this book but i just flew through 50 pages in this last few hours and tried to finish it so i can start another book as my vacation just started. This book is beautiful in writing style and the ending was kind of shocking to me as i was not expecting it, other than that, i liked the characters and their names were seriously so hard to pronounce but this is what i liked about this book, it's so different from the books that i usually read.
I do recommend this to people if anybody can find it around, as i said it's a local book so it would be a little hard to find but i seriously enjoyed it and would read something else by the author :)

The idea behind the book is very unique and interesting, however, it wasn't executed very well.
let me start by addressing the plot..or lack there of. in the synopsis it says and i quote:

now i'm just sitting here thinking...what is this life altering event that i am clearly missing? because NOTHING happens!! and when something did happen it had nothing to do with Apathy. the storyline was going nowhere and i often found myself thinking: " when is this book gonna end?!". And then it did end, and what an ending!!! It threw me off completely. I was NOT expecting that. at first i loved it but the more i thought it, i realized it made no sense.
also, i wasn't a fan of Ikarus and the characters felt like they were being forced together. and the romance was over the top for me.
the books redeeming quality was the poetry. i absolutely loved it. it was my favorite part.

Met the author at the book fair. He was very humble and he laughed a lot. I liked that about him and I wish all authors have his modesty. Actually I didn't know he was the author. I asked about the book and he explained it to me without telling me that he wrote it. I liked the idea of the book so I grabbed it and went home not knowing it would become one of my favorite books of all time. The book has a unique mood/setting that I haven't experienced in any other book. The environment is just beautifully weird. I don't know if it's just me, but even at the funny bits there was still this dark feeling I had. I loved it.
The one thing I disagree with this author is the way he tries to hide himself. He should introduce himself as the author instead of shying away from the public. He wrote a gem and he should be proud of it by being in the spotlight not behind a pen name.

It's a well-written novel with simple words and characters. I felt sorry for Ekarus because he didn't deserve such an end. His strong love to Arya was lasting that he couldn't believe she would cheat on him and I kinda loved this "unreal" relation. Apathy? Well I think this character was literally unique. I've never dealt with such personality before. Well, I can say that this novel and its uncomplicated events was amazing to read.

What a breathtaking Novel *.*
This is The First English Novel that I read.... GooD Start For ME ^.^
I couldn't stop readig it even it was in english and i couldn't understand some words.
I loved the comedy , the poems and the way of telling what's inside the character's mind ;)
the End was kind of a shock to me °.° after all what happened
I advise you To Read it , It's WONDERFULL ~.~

I really liked this book and the idea of not being able to feel anything , it made me see things differently .
However, I hated the ending very much .
