In the third novella of this ghostly psychological suspense series, a proposed child care center enflames hidden prejudices at First Central Church, leading to murder. A dark spirit terrifies Madison and dampens her previous enthusiasm for encountering ghosts. She's determined to find out what, or who, is tormenting her. The answer is unsettling.
Cathryn is the author of over forty novels. She writes psychological thrillers, psychological suspense, and the ALEXANDRA MALLORY series which features a sociopath you can’t help but love. Readers say they're “absolutely addicted” to the series.
The things that cause torment in real life—obsession and revenge, guilt and envy and longing—are endlessly fascinating in fiction and she never grows tired of writing stories about characters struggling to overcome the worst.
Cathryn also writes ghost stories because who knows what lies beyond our senses—The Haunted Ship Trilogy and the Madison Keith series of novellas.
When she’s not writing, she’s usually reading, walking on the beach, or playing golf, going way out of her way to avoid hitting her ball in the sand or the water. She lives on the Central California Coast with her husband and her cat, Cleopatra.

This story hit a little too close to home given the recent government shutdown over a border wall. That said, I felt it was the best of the three stories so far. You have an opportunity to peer into the personal life of the main character which helped me find her more relatable. The introduction of moths creeped me out because it reminded me of Stephen King's Sleeping Beauties. Don't fall asleep! If you are looking for a quick read that is a little spooky, you might want to give this a try.
Another great story by Madison. Nice shortish read that ends with resolution, no cliffhangers. I'm wondering though, the way she keeps finding all these dead bodies related to the church, when is she going to be a suspect?
