My niece really liked this book when I read it to here. It was really good to use as a counting book too which she did on her own. As I would turn the page, she would count how many there were each time. I think it is a good transitional connection for her to make and that it can be used in different ways such as for colors too or just showing that racing is fun but it isn't all about who wins.
This tome for tots telegraphs the terminal top-ranked tiny turtle, severing itself from the suspense that should have sated little Sam and Sally's stomach for spectacle.
This book is a cute book for little kids. The book has many bright colors and is interactive in a way. On each page, one turtle disappears because of some reason that they cannot perform anymore in the race. This would be a great book for learning basic subtraction as well.
Some turtles are in a race. The turtles are little plastic pieces attached to the pages (cardboard); they disappear as you turn the pages, leaving only the winner in the end.
I have to admit I am parcial to turtles:) I like this counting color book. Who will win the race? Which color turtle will be left? Turn the pages to find out.
