Finally a Terror Academy book I actually like lol. Cara is a popular senior cheerleader who is dating Sean. But at the start of the book she’s ready to dump him and when she does he goes into this whole you owe me I’ve been waiting to basically have sex and then of course like all these books tries to rape her at the school only to be saved by Eddie a tough guy from the bad part of town. Cara feeling lucky invites Eddie to dinner. Cara really only has one friend Chris, who secretly pines for Cara, but she just sees him as a friend. On her way to Chris’s house she is attacked by Sean again who is all about her owing him sex and tries to rape her again. She gets away this time, and the next day finds out Sean is dead. Apparently he killed himself by jumping off a bridge. Soon Eddie comes over for his dinner and is dressed in a suit and impresses Cara’s parents so much that they allow her to go on a movie date with him. Only Eddie has other plans. He shows his true colors and Cara is taken to a bonfire where he and his buddies are gonna have a party and Cara is the entertainment. I’m sorry but all of these books love rapey guys like that’s a normal high school guy mentality. Luckily Chris followed them and saves Cara and they speed away. Only to be driven off the road where Cara and Chris are injured and wake up in the hospital with no memory of what happened. They are told because of their injuries they will miss too much school and have to go to summer school to graduate and go to college in the fall. Bummer lol. On the first day of summer school they walk in and Eddie harasses them and his voice brings all the memories of that night flood back to Cara. So she goes to the police but they do nothing because there is no proof. Luckily for Cara and Chris they only have to do a week of summer school and they can graduate. ( okay that is so dumb and makes no sense. They should have just been able to graduate on time then) ugh these books frustrate me. The week goes by and on their last day the report Cara has turned in for English is incomplete so to graduate she needs to finish it. So her and Chris go to the school library. This is where the book gets good, they are locked in the school with Eddie and his lackeys out for revenge. If you suspend belief some it’s a fun last third of the book. And other than the super barf ending of Cara and Chris being in love and going to the same college to live happily ever after I really enjoyed the book.

This was another brutal installment of Terror Academy. Complete with the usual Terror Academy tropes such as aggressive sexual assault attempts, violence against women, and heavy stereotypes. If you’re sensitive to these topics then look elsewhere for your entertainment. Rich cheerleader Cara has had some bad luck lately with the company that she keeps. She finds herself warding off sexual assault attempts left and right (by several different male characters). After an accident, she is left with dissociative amnesia and has no choice but to attend summer school in order to graduate. Intense, fast-paced, and not for the faint of heart.
Also I find it strange that the synopsis refers to Eddie as a sleazy biker when there’s no mention of him riding a motorcycle or even being into motorcycles at all in the actual book. And no, she most definitely does not dump her boyfriend to go out with Eddie.

I must have been mixing this up with a different Terror Academy book, because the plot of this one didn’t at all match what I had in my head.

Still, it was a fun trip down memory lane.

Excellent fast read. After the death of her boyfriend, and an accident that leaves her memory dry, Cara most undergo therapy for the broken leg she receives. Having missed the last of her senior semester, she must now attend summer school- where the real nightmare begins. Well written, fast paced- highly recommended.

This was really entertaining and quickly paced story with plenty of action. I quite enjoyed this book, despite the really cheesy 90s horror plot.

The character is sympathetic and the book's fun enough to make it decent. Would recommend for those into survival horror.
