What a fantastic book! Turner writes in such an engaging way, accurately discussing the historical, social and political lineage of the wilderness system that we know today, and the actors active in its creation and throughout its history. His use of primary and secondary documents is astounding, I'm just so jealous of his ability and passion.

Anyone interested in public lands history would be well served to read this book, read it twice if necessary.
