I grew up on a farm in western New York. I currently live in central Iowa. I work in IT by day and train dogs and write books by night. I live with a Rottweiler, a German Pinscher and a lot of books.
I am a fan of flyover country, wide open spaces, weather, books, working dogs, gutsy heroines and steadfast heroes.
My first novel, Wide Open, was published by Tor on March 13, 2012. My second novel Deep Down is out March 5, 2013.
Whether you believe in talking dogs or fantasize about Zeppelins really doesn't matter. If you believe in Love, truelove, you will enjoy this story. Precognitive behavior doesn't ever guarantee a positive future. The likelihood that you will care to share your life with another is dependent on your willingness to listen to both your heart and theirs. A thought provoking story with emotional rewards. I recommend reading it.
In this short story a women who has unbelievable foresight tries to hold on to love and order through science. But maybe what she just needs is to look for the magic in imagination. It makes me wonder if there is magic or science behind Nora's ability?

Simple evocative language with just a hint of magic. This is Coates at her best. And this is a complete short story, not just an introduction to a longer novel. I would like to see more from these characters, but the story is complete.
