This was a quick read. It was very good. I don't know much about the author, but this would make an excellent book if she would make it into a longer one. The Railway Angel seemed to me like it was a chapter or two out of a bigger book, and if the author could write more chapters leading up to Lizzie's death, and more chapters once she became a full guardian angel, it would be worth five stars.

The Railway Angel has a hell of a lot of room for improvement, no pun intended. It opens with the heroine sitting on a cloud which evidently does not surprise her, although she is deeply shocked by a door that - wait for it - opens on its own. Wouldn't you think sitting on a cloud or suddenly finding yourself transported somewhere new would be a bigger shock than an automatic door?

The author makes no attempt to anchor us in the story and I felt my willingness to suspend disbelief evaporate around about the time that we found out that the heroine died due to a temper tantrum because her mum wouldn't give her money for clothes. *coughspoiledbratcough*

There's no realisation that she's dead. There's no hint as to whether she arrived on the cloud just this very moment or has been there observing for a while. There's no explanation as to why she's looking at events below rather than trying to figure out what's going on in her world. A two second conversation has her realise that she's a trainee angel in a training school and boom! She's sent on her first mission.

The remaining pages are crammed with Special Snowflake-y crap and weird powers (she is a human/angel bungee cord). Alas there's no light at the end of the tunnel.

I only gave this book a 4 because I feel as though the book could have been a lot longer. It just seemed too short to really get a feel as to what was going on. Maybe this author could expand a whole lot more. I do hope to read the other books in the series when the author has them come out, if she has not done so already. Just make sure the other books are longer since they seem like a wonderful read.

"The Railway Angel"(The Guardian Angels Book 1)

by Julie Day

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (5 outof 5 🌟)

From the moment I cracked open the book, I was transported into a realm where guardian angels roam. Julie Day weaves a captivating tale of Lizzie Hammond, a young girl who undergoes a remarkable transformation after a tragic dare at a train station. The narrative's unique blend of magic and real-life teenage struggles had me hooked from the start.

Lizzie's character development is truly a highlight. Watching her evolve from a lost angel into a formidable Guardian Angel with newfound magical powers is a journey filled with emotion, growth, and self-discovery. It's a storyline that beautifully mirrors the challenges and triumphs many of us face during our teenage years.

The writing style is fluid and engaging, making it easy to get lost in the pages. I appreciated the author's ability to maintain a perfect balance between the supernatural elements and the relatable issues that teenagers encounter, like peer pressure and the temptation to take risks.

While the story is undeniably captivating, I found myself craving a bit more exploration of Lizzie's emotions and the complexities of her new role. A deeper dive into the world of guardian angels and their powers would have added an extra layer of intrigue.

"The Railway Angel" is a promising start to a new series that promises magic, adventure, and heart. I would highly recommend it to fellow bookworms, especially those who enjoy young adult fiction with a touch of the supernatural. I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment in "The Guardian Angels" series!

BOOK REVIEW-

I found great enjoyment in this story. Although I initially didn't realize it was a short story, that detail didn't impact my experience. It seems perfect for readers aged 10 to 15. The inclusion of a subtle moral—life is precious—was well-done, avoiding any sense of being overly preachy.

Story revolves around Lizzie's life.
Following a tragic mishap during a daring game at a train station, fifteen-year-old Lizzie Hammond transitions into a lost angel. However, she is given a chance to return to Earth, armed with newfound magical abilities, to prevent a teenager from endangering their life on railway tracks. Successfully passing this test, Lizzie transforms into a 'Guardian Angel.'

Knowing that this is the first in a series, I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment.

Author transport readers to fascinating and complex worlds filled with unique characters that feel real and relatable, sparking personal introspection and reflection.

Looking forward for more!!

Angel book

It was a quick short read that could have been a little better written. I think it needed a little more of something, I'm just not sure what.

I liked the premise of the book - an angel sent to protect people from jumping in front of trains. But...I just couldn't get into it. The dialogue was weak; it sounded identical to the narration. Felt like one big blah, blah, blah to me.

This was a 4.9. I wanted a 5 but was so short.

Everyone need to read this story, before they do something crazy. Every action that we take in life effect other people.

This a must read for teenagers...

A new series about guardian angels in training. Each died on earth and it is their job to help other humans make the right choices under peer pressure.

This "short" narrative was a free book, so I thought I would give it a chance. I read it in about 5 minutes. Not really long enough to connect with any characters.
