Locked in an unexpected land dispute, Rafe Stryker is trapped in the one place he vowed never to return to — the Castle Ranch in Fool’s Gold, California. He made millions facing ruthless adversaries in the boardroom, but nothing could’ve prepared him to go head-to-head against stubborn, beautiful Heidi Simpson. No one is more surprised than Rafe to discover that he’s findi ...more

A rant.

I've just started CHAPTER 2. I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to finish this one. The narration is excellent but the story - first, heroine is Heidi - she has blonde hair which she is wearing in two pigtail plaits and she raises goats and was raised by her grandfather (sound familiar?) I haven't read any of the other Fool's Gold books so I thought maybe the childhood books/fairy tale theme is a gimmick of the series but a quick browse here on GR indicates not. Okay, this is perhaps c
This is the first Fool’s Gold story that I have read. I have been a fan of Ms Mallery for quite a few years now so I knew that I would enjoy reading any book that she had written and I wasn’t disappointed with this one. Even though this was part of a series Ms Mallery did a great job in telling about things we needed to know which meant that the book can be read as a stand-alone.

Rafe Stryker’s mother had gotten herself into trouble which means that Rafe has to return to Fool’s Gold, a town in wh

Summer Days is the newest installment in a series that’s become a representative of small town romances joining the likes of Virgin River, Shelter Bay and Destiny. This is the 7th book in the series, and although the characters were introduced in the previous books, it stands alone perfectly well.

Heidi Simpson and her grandfather are the most recent residents of Foo

Oh my gosh. The amount of stupid in the setup is beyond bearing. I'm not through three chapters and I can't stand any more. Rafe is a complete jackwagon, Heidi is an idiot, and her grandfather deserves to be in jail. Which is bad enough, but then the lawyers commit, like, nineteen ethics violations and the judge says random nonsense that comes from a base assumption that Heidi should be culpable for her grandfather's crime. I mean, all Heidi has to do is have a freaking brain and explain to Rafe ...more

For the past two years I've spent at least part of my summer vacationing (in my mind) in Fool's Gold, California. Now that the Hendrix triplets are married off, it's time for some of the other peripheral characters to get their HEAs. First up is Heidi, the "goat girl," so nicknamed because she keeps a herd of goats and sells cheese and soap made from goat's milk. Her hero is Rafe, a business tycoon whose mother has been swindled by Heidi's grandfather, who "sold" Rafe's mother Heidi's ranch to p ...more

(Just a heads up before I begin my review: I am not going to write actual spoilers in this review (as in I will not tell you about how things turn out) but I will be talking about many events that occurred in the book.)

Summer Days is the seventh book in Susan Mallery’s Fool’s Gold series. I have not read the previous books and I didn’t feel as though I was missing any vital information. I deem this book a stand-alone. I have heard countless wonderful th

12/16-19/17 - 1 star - Apparently I was much more forgiving 5 years ago because this time I absolutely hated this book. It was full of judgmental and deceptive and just plain stupid people. First of all, Heidi's grandfather Glen sells a ranch he doesn't own, but because he didn't keep the money and used it to help a friend, somehow everyone thought it was OK, even Heidi who totally got screwed out of everything and was forced to pay back the $250K loan! Then when Rafe makes some business decisio ...more
I found myself having a love/hate relationship with this book, and it all revolves around the main plot.

Heidi’s grandfather, Glen, sells May ranch land for $250,000. Well meaning, the only problem is…it isn’t his land to sell. Rafe returns to Fool’s Gold to help his mother (May) sort out the problem. May feels like the ranch can be shared, and this isn’t a big deal. Rafe, however, sees this as illegal and wants the property or the money back – period. Heidi is upset, but loves her grandfather an
Rafe Stryker lost both his father and his childhood growing up on Castle Ranch with his mother, two brothers, and his illegitimate little sister. He shouldered much more responsibility than he ought to and since then has grown into a very wealthy businessman, never losing his desire to be in control and take care of what's his. He will do anything to make sure his mom is happy and that includes returning to Fool's Gold and going up against the stubborn but beautiful Heidi Simpson over ownership ...more

There is nothing more Heidi Simpson wants but a stable home in form of Castle Ranch in Fool’s Gold after growing up in the carnival all her life. But to aid a friend’s illness, her grandfather attempts to sell the property to one May Stryker. But alas it wasn’t his property to sell. Henceforth Heidi is now stuck with a rigid court order and a very pissed off May’s ruthless business tycoon of a son, Rafe Stryker.

Another home run for Mallery! Fool's Gold is the land of happy endings and we are lucky enough to get to read another one with Summer Days.

Rafe Stryker, the first of the Stryker brothers featured in Fool's Gold, is a perfect hero. He's tough, rough under his polished exterior, and throughout the book you see his softer side coming through. The book begins with Rafe heading to his mother's rescue over a dispute regarding the home of a new Fool's Gold resident, Heidi. Heidi owns a goat farm. Real

Fools Gold book 7 is just a light hearted as the others. This easy to read book is perfect for summer! Set in a small town filled with drama, friendship, and family that Susan shares in a way that makes you feel like you are in the middle of it all. I am looking forward to meeting the next set of characters in book 8.

I loved this book!! Love this author!!! I have read quite a bit of her books!! I love this series so far!!

If your looking for a great beach or rainy day book to read...

than look no further than "Summer Days" by Susan Mallery. She's back and continuing her very successful "Fool's Gold" series with three books this summer starting with "Summer Days." I absolutely loved this book and devoured the book in one session. Ms. Mallery has a way of making you sure you want to hate the "bad guy", in this case Rafe Stryker, but still infuses him with enough hidden sensitivity that hating him becomes impossible.

Susan Mallery has done it again! She brings you back into Fool's Gold with the story of two new characters that you can't help but root for from the first page until the end.

Rafe and Heidi find themselves fighting for a home on a beautiful piece of land that puts them in a difficult situation; a situation that leads to Rafe and his mother moving in with Heidi and her Grandfather until their next court date over this property. His mother is adamant on owning it and she will do anything to keep it

In typical Susan Mallery fashion, this book made me laugh and cry and melted my heart. When Rafe Stryker has to return to Fool’s Gold, the town where he grew up, to help his mother with a sticky legal situation, he is not happy. Rafe’s childhood in Fool’s Gold was less than spectacular with a poor, widowed mother and younger siblings he had to take care of. Rafe used that time in his life to motivate him to his current millionaire, ruthless, businessman status. But those old wounds linger and ar ...more

I really enjoyed SUMMER DAYS. The focus wasn’t all about the adversary of winning the ranch and there wasn’t a lot of hard feelings.

Growing up poor after the death of their father, Rafe Stryker has made it his mission to never want for anything. He’s grown his business and continues to expect the best from everyone…including his family.

When he learns his mother was lied too over the purchase of the ranch they grew up on, he immediately takes charge, despite his mother’s understand

This is another great book in the Fool's Gold series though I will openly state that you need to suspend your belief in reality for the duration of the story. For instance, it is hard to believe that there would be a way for Heidi's grandfather to sell Heidi's property to Rafe's mom, May, unless they used some sort of crack pot realtors. Still once you move past that this book was both funny and romantic read.

I love Rafe because he puts forth this cutthroat businessman facade but he is

Susan Mallery brings readers back to Fool’s Gold, California for another round of fun romances. The town that once had a man shortage is starting to even out nicely. I love this fictional town and its residents. Susan puts so much effort towards making this town as real as can be. Readers can visit to see just how real. As a Fool’s Gold cheerleader I got the benefit of receiving an ARC of “Summer Days” for review. I liked the story but it wasn’t my favorite of the series. Hei ...more

Let me start off by saying that I love Mallery's work. Her books are so heartwarming and the characters are compeltely memorable and real.

Some of my favorite books by her are from the Fool's Gold series, I just love the town and the people and the whole atmosphere.

So I jumped at the chance to read and review her 7th book in the series Summer Days.
Thankfully this one was just as good as some of her others in the series and did not disappoint at all.

Heidi was feisty and such a fun character. I re

I have read some of the earlier books in this series and enjoyed them, but this one feels like it was cranked out in a hurry without regard for having any kind of reality. The plot is ridiculous - Heidi's grandfather sells her ranch - only problem is he doesn't own it. Having used the money to help a sick friend get cancer treatment, they don't have the money to pay back. But no one is mad at him and the woodman he "sold" the property to ends up moving in with them, along with her son, who is ap ...more

I was already tickled when Heidi and Athena appeared in the previous book so I was excited to know she's gonna have a own story.

Rafe grew up in Fool's Gold but left when he became of age as Fool's Gold reminded him of the charity he received as a boy. Being the successful business tycoon he was now, he definitely don't wanna be reminded of those times. Not that he was being ungrateful or anything. Still, Fool's Gold didn't give him many good memories so when his mum was caught up with a fake pur

The thing that annoyed me the most about this book is the premise for the entire story. Why on earth would Heidi be held responsible for a deal that her grandfather made without her knowledge? I understand she wants to save her grandfather but legally, she has ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSIBILITY for the transaction. The land was not her grandfather's to sell and Heidi did not have any part in the sale. Yes, she wants to help him. But her land should never have been in jeopardy because SHE did not sell ...more

I love the Fool's Gold series by Susan Mallery. All of the books are different--some are more serious, and some are downright hilarious! It keeps the story line fresh and I don't feel like "Oh, I've read this before; this is just like the last one." Rafe and his siblings lost their father at an early age and Rafe had to become the "man of the house". He's never been able to let that responsibility go. Heidi is so glad to finally have roots, after traveling most of her life, she'll do anything to ...more

Another great romance from Susan Mallery. This is another story set in the town of Fool's Gold which see's the enigmatic Rafe Stryker come back to the town after $250,000 dollars was wrongly taken fro his mother who thought she was buying a ranch. He meets Heidi who owns the ranch and is caught up in the same mess.
This story will make you laugh and savour the romance. You may also want to shake the characters throughout but that is half the fun!
