The Promise of Change
Rebecca Heflin

Sarah likes her life organized, compartmentalized and adheres to a perfectly created daily schedule. Married and divorced, hoping to seek her father’s approval every step of the way she can’t seem to divorce herself from analyzing and scrutinizing her decisions and life every step of the way. When offered a great promotion at work she had to think and rethink over the offer before agreeing to an interview. Sarah hates change. But, with change sometimes-great t

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I really enjoyed reading this book! I don't often read books in the romance or women's fiction genres, and this novel is the perfect mix of both. "The Promise of Change" is full of so many twists and turns that will make you want to read more. It was so hard for me to put it down once I really got into it. I'm excited to see what Heflin does with her next novel, "Rescuing Lacey." ...more

A really good plot and many references to classics like Bronte and Austen. The book takes serious life and career changes into the entire plot. An enjoyable read!

The story itself is good, but the writing is a little hard to read at times. Not that it's hard to understand, just that the author tends to write dialogue in a way that no one actually would speak! I found myself rolling my eyes often.

The first 1/5 of the book is haaaard to get through. It's pretty boring actually, but I found this book for free (kindle edition) on Amazon, so I decided to persevere. Once you get the part where she leaves the country the story picks up.

If you can look past the

I loved the story and I'm going to review it as truthfully as I can since the author is a new writer and like myself would prefer a truthful review. I thought the beginning of the story important in that it explained who Sarah was and where she was coming from but meeting the man seemed to take too long; explaining this information in small increments after she arrived in England and met her man would have given more interest to the beginning of the story. I've been taught by many authors of boo ...more

A slow start, but all in all a wonderful ROMANTIC read.

“‘I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,

I love you simply, without problems or pride:

I love you in this way because I don’t know of any other way of loving but this,

in which there is no I or you,

so intimate that your hand on my chest is my hand,

so intimate that when I fall asleep it is your eyes that close.’” ~Pablo Neruda
