Extremely heavy on the "morals." (Seems like something LM Montgomery would have had to write for her magazine readers in the "Christmas with Anne" tale, though lacking her way with words!) Kind of neat how the story incorporates Kinkade's art (which I love) though at times it seems a bit forced (like the artwork has a boy on a sled, so we have to mention that the brother is sledding...) A sweet enough tale, though a bit long-winded and didactic.

21 of Thomas Kinkade's paintings form the basis of the story, authored by Douglas Kaine McKelvey. 20 of the paintings are winter scenes - my favorite part of the book. The plot is based on the biblical story of entertaining strangers. I like the idea of bringing Kinkade's work to life through narrative. This is a nice book to add to the Christmas collection and serves as a ...more

Illustrated with paintings by Thomas Kinkade and written by Douglas McKelvey this is a good story based on Mark 9:37. At times the sentences meant to tie in these scenes ...more

The remote descendant of Scottish horse-thieving ancestors, Douglas Kaine McKelvey has already bested the dubious achievements of his predecessors by penning five published books and penning lyrics for more than 250 songs recorded by a variety of artists including Kenny Rogers, Switchfoot, and Jason Gray.

Douglas is currently completing the manuscript for a YA sci-fi/fantasy novel and making slow
