First, I want to give a big thank you to Samantha Adams and Kay Fry for allowing me to read and review their book. I was under no obligation to give it a good review...

Luckily for me, this is an engaging book. Alessandra is a refreshingly strong heroine, a private detective that has not let her past emotional trauma get in her way. James is also a drool-worthy hero and Scottish to boot.

After visiting a fortune teller as a teenager she gets a dire prediction that quickly blooms into a painful reality. Fast forward 5 years, and she is marked by her experience, but still thriving. Until her destiny crashes into her normal life, leaving everything off kilter in it's wake. Can Alessandra (Ally) accept her crazy new path in the world, and her connection with the mysterious James. A Scottish alpha man, practically a caveman in his thinking when it comes to Ally. A race hangs in the balance, will Ally master her fate and figure out the prophecy to save us all?

It was a real pleasure reading this book. The ability to get into everyone's head left no huge questions as to motive, everyone was an open book and that was so refreshing. I like the combination of supernatural characters in the book. It doesn't try to "explain" the creation of any of them, which is fine. The world is well created and explained in the "now"... what we need to know now about how the creatures are, and what to expect.

There were a few twists that a saw coming, and many that I did not. It was a comfortably paced with rich imagery of Scotland and male "eye candy" encouraging a quick enjoyment-filled read. There was only one thing I was wishing there was more of, although based on the characters and the story I understand why it was lacking: more steamy scenes. There were a few more innocent steamy scenes, but I was hankering for some hot Scottish physical loving, and left aching...

Overall, I relished the story and the characters. I give it a solid 4 stars and will most definitely be looking for book #2 to see if I might just get my wish....

I made it almost half way through before I just couldn't stand the whole "I'm doing this for your own good" excuse for every action the hero takes against the heroine. You just said girlie was safe at your house, so monitoring her thoughts without her knowledge isn't for her own good, it's for your own enjoyment.

BS like that is too obnoxious to put up with when I could be reading something else.

Title: Immortal Prophecy
Author: Samantha Adams
Format: ebook about 458 pgs
Genre: YA Fantasy
Cover: Loved it
Main Characters: Alessandra DeCosta & James Calisle

Immortal Prophecy by Samantha Adams is the first in the series. Alessandra and James are the main characters. The story uses Alessandra’s’ POV in most of the story however it sometimes changes to others, but it is very clear who’s POV it is. The story is fast paced that includes a little romance with some action and adventure mixed in.
Alessandra is an older character than the ones I am used to reading in YA stories. She is a PI (different) and James is a very, very, very old immortal with lots and lots of money (not very different), Alessandra is just older than the regular teen in most YA stories. Vincent is the bad guy because what story would be complete without an evil character. There is also another evil character, I was surprised when Natalia (love the Spanish names) was introduced as an evil character as well. Love to be able to read about an evil female character and see just how evil she can be.
I love this story I’m looking forward to the next book and recommend this great story.

I really liked the story in this book. It focuses on Alessandra as she learns she is a half immortal and her destiny is to kill an evil vampire named Vincent, who happens to be trying to kill her first. She struggles to come to terms with destiny and tries to change her life and refuses, at first, to accept it. She is a strong female character who won't let anyone push her around, something I really like. She wants to make her own life, but the outcome is already decided for her and once she can accept that, she can enjoy falling head over heals for her soulmate James. James and Ally are the perfect soulmates for each other and I look forward to seeing their relationship bloom.

I found most of the book to be a page turner where I just couldn't wait to see what happened next, but there was a bit of a dry patch in the middle where there isn't really all that much going on. It's more focusing on the relationship between Ally and James, which is good, it was just a bit dry. All in all, I am looking forward to seeing what comes next in the series, the cliffhanger was really good.

However, I would normally give a book like this a 4/5, since I really liked it, but I'll be going with a 3/5 because there's a few small issues that could be fixed. I believe this book needs another edit to fix a few minor issues. Sometimes it can be a little difficult to read. There's too little use of compound words, it wouldn't be so bad if it was just how one or two of the characters talked all the time, but it's not. There would be, in some cases, one character saying "it's" and then in the next sentence "it is" but there wouldn't be any emphasis on the "is". I think some of the wording could be fixed with a few more compound words, making for a smoother read. Sometimes I can see how there should be a bit of emphasis on the word, which should maybe be put into italics or something so the reader knows to put some emphasis there. Then there are other times where it seems a comma is missing, but that's easily fixed as well. If these little issues are fixed, I would be likely to give this book a 4/5 since the story is really good, it just needs a little polish.

Alessandra(Ally) DeCosta knows what it's like to suffer loss. When her parents were killed five years ago. Ally isn't the same person after their deaths she keeps everyone at arms length including her grandmother Adele and her best friend Kathryn(Kat). She's become a private investigator because she's seeking the truth always. Ally's life is threatened by a strange man and rescued by handsome stranger. The strange man is called Vincent, who happens to be a vampire, determined to kill Ally before she can fulfill the prophecy. Handsome stranger, who is Ally's protector and soul mate, is James Carlisle. He's been waiting for the day that Ally will become his yet is worried about what Vincent will do next. Ally knows nothing about the prophecy or her future as an immortal. Ally is stunned by her attraction to James. Ally's safety is threatened, so James and Adele move Ally to Scotland until the danger is past. Ally is hurt, upset, and angry with Adele and James for keeping secrets from her. She tries to cope with all of these changes and wants alittle distance to figure things out. Ally also has dreams which seem to be based in reality. When Kat is kidnapped Ally wants to go to her rescue but wants a plan of attack before setting out. Can Kat be rescued? What do Ally's dreams mean? Will Ally accept being an immortal? Will Ally forgive James and Adele? Your answers await you in Immortal Prophecy.

What I found fascinating about this book is that the immortal can be killed or severely damaged. The powers these immortal have are really incredible to behold:creating fireballs, read minds, control minds, and so much more. I loved watching Ally's internal struggle from the beginning to the end of the book! She really was a breathe taking character to watch grow. She is real, believable, and has insecurities just like everyone else. I wasn't too sure about James from the beginning then I watched his devotion and care for Ally truly a mind blowing experience. Vincent is really the guy you love to hate from the get go. I really want to see where this story is going. I'll be watching out for the next installment.

Review of "Immortal Prophecy" by Samantha Adams

Ally is a girl who is given an ominous prophecy from a fortune teller with her friend, Katherine. Ally grows up and meets the man of her dreams and soul mate, James. Literally, she meets him and her heart flies.

However, James, an immortal, is used to having his way. They share a magical moment at a ball. Then James whisks Ally to Scotland to protect her.

Of course Ally is not a woman you can push. She doesn't want to accept James and the prophecy. Nevertheless, she is drawn to him and can’t fight the feelings she has for him which are too great to deny.

Meanwhile she, along with James tries to rescue her beloved friend Katherine from the evil vampires lead by her nemesis, Vincent!

Will Ally be able to accept her role in life? Will she be able to fall in love with her soul mate, James? Will she be able to save the world from evil?

MY THOUGHTS

“Immortal Prophecy” was a delight to read! It was full of wonderful images of love, longing, hate, and determination! If you want a rockin’ girl power book that was YA, this is for you!

I was entranced from the beginning with “Immortal Prophecy” because once I started reading, I literally couldn’t put it down until the end!
I loved James, her drop-dead handsome soul mate. His love for Ally just reaches from the pages and smacks you with it. I wanted to yell at Ally, “Take him in your arms… silly! What the heck are you waiting for?”

I also thought the way the book ended was great because I’m ready and waiting for book two. Get the book and read it, you won’t be sorry!

For this and so much more, I have to give “Immortal Prophecy” by Samantha Adams a hearty five star rating!

I read Adams’ Immortal Prophecy in one sitting. It is a very gripping story with romance, suspense, and supernatural beings. What more could you ask for in a YA story? The story was predictable and unexpected all at the same time. I found myself lost in the flow of a typical romance or suspense story, only to be thrown for a loop when the scene ends in a way I could never have fathomed.

All of the major characters are very strong and could stand on their own in a spin-off series. It was so refreshing to read a story without a number of place-holder characters. The main character, however, blew me away time and time again. She regularly questions herself and her situation but is strong enough to stand up and do what needs to be done. She is thrown into some of the most out-of-this-world situations and always comes out whole.

I couldn’t put this book down and found myself trying to imagine what could possibly happen next and how it will all pan out in the end. This book did, however, remind me why reading a series is not always beneficial. I absolutely hate having to wait on the sequel.... And this is one series that I will definitely be following until the very end.

A Write to Review

Note: I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Two men are after her and she has lived her life not knowing why. After receiving a prophecy from a fortuneteller when she was but sixteen years old, Alessandra, had no idea what was going to happen to her. Five years later she was dragged into a world that was her destiny all her life and she had to follow her heart for her power to be realized.

This book was undeniably captivating. The narrative had a magnetic quality that drew me in completely. I found the storyline to be remarkably easy to follow, and the characters came across as entirely believable. The plot offered unexpected twists and turns that kept me engaged throughout. I'm genuinely intrigued to see how the story will continue to evolve in the next book.

At sixteen Alessandra gets a prediction that will change her life forever- a tragic event and two men entering her life. One man is to bring her love but the other one only wants to bring her harm. Flash forward five years later and Alessandra is now a private investigator and events are set in motion for her to fulfill her destiny- she finds out she's an Immortal, an evil vampire wants to kill her, and the man who may be her true love re-enters her life. Will she defeat the evil vampire and find true love or will evil triumph?

I enjoyed the book- it had interesting characters and plot, romance, danger, adventure...however I would have enjoyed it more if it had been edited a little better, I felt that the sloppy editing distracted from the story. But that won't keep me from reading more in the series because otherwise it was an interesting read.

The main character Ally at 16 goes to the fair with her friend and sees a fortune teller. She is told that 2 important people in her life will die and that she will meet her soulmate. 5 years later Ally is a private investigator and while on a case she sees the woman she is following killed by a vampire who then comes after her. She quickly learns that the prophecy the fortune teller told her is coming true and she will have to kill the evil vampire Vincent. Enter James her soulmate.

First let me say how refreshing to once again have an evil vampire, so over all the Edwards. Loved Ally and James together, you just root for them throughout the whole book. A fast paced page turner and I can't wait for the next book to come out. I received this from Samantha and Kay for review through Goodreads and I would like to thank them. This book is awesome. Do yourself a favor and read this book.

I really loved this book the first time reading it. The idea of a soul mate who knows and has been searching for you for years. One that was written in the stars. Then I re-read the book. I still really like the story, I just feel that the characters could have been fleshed out a little more. Kathryn was just a big part in Ally's life for so long, however you really don't know anything about her. It would be nice to know more about these people surrounding Ally. There are all these stories that are alluded to, but nothing is expanded upon. The characters just need to have more depth to them.

Prophecies, immortals and soulmates, oh my!

Ally and James have such good banter and charm, I love them when they are together. This story has a lot of elements I love, with a strong badass female lead who with a little help from her friends, gets to where she needs to be.

Book Review- Immortal Prophecy by Samantha Adams Gray

Alessandra lost her parents at sixteen after she visited a fortune teller. The fortune teller told her a prophecy was given and Ally was at the center of it all. Her parents were killed before they could tell her the truth. James was foretold to be her soulmate while Vincent wanted to kill her. She didn’t believe a word, until now.
She has met Vincent. He is a vampire and he killed her parents. James comes to her rescue. Her shock at seeing him is high. She thought she dreamed him. The prophecy is now set in motion. James is now forced to make a move. He has to take Ally to Scotland where she will be safe. She is fighting her destiny and he fears she will fail against Vincent and die. He can’t live without his soulmate but he can’t push her either. His choices need to be carefully weighed.
Ally is furious that she had no say in coming to Scotland. She hates that her choices in life have been taken from her. At first she refuses to accept her role in the upcoming battle. But once in Scotland she is advised to listen to the land and the ancients. She has to open herself up and welcome what they have to say.
She finds herself in an ancient battle, learning more about James and her family. When Vincent and Natalia make their move Ally realizes she can’t return to what her life was. She has to accept what destiny wants her to do.
This is the first book in the Saga series and the storyline was interesting. I like the take on vampires and immortals and how they interact. Typical good versus evil battle continuing in the modern age. I also liked the author’s idea of soulmates. So James and Ally’s relationship was instant and strong. The reader can understand Ally’s battle against losing her choice in matters. However Ally’s actions and reactions came across as childish and immature at times. She threw tantrums, at least what I picked up on.
I liked her in the very beginning when she was a girl visiting the fortune teller where she came across less silly than her friend and when she was doing her job as a P.I. She seemed no nonsense on both occasions until James entered the picture. The attitude she possessed just kind of changed. She hid from what was in front of her. Then she fought to go back instead of confronting the situation head on.
It was hard for me to continue reading it. I liked the story but lost interest in Ally. She came across weaker as the story continued. I wondered what happened to her strength. It showed itself at times but then she appeared stubborn instead of listening to others working together. So I was mixed on the story. I give it a 3 out of 5.

The premise of the book had potential to be a great story. But I think the development itself kinda felt short. The whole vampires and immortals plot could have been more developed, as well as the characters. Also, the dialogue was kinda cringey. And it seemed like they had to throw everything in the readers face instead of showing it more subtly (e.g. when they are outside the house to try and rescue Kat, suddenly Ally realizes it’s a trap. Like omg, really?!?!? And then James and Chase are so like “man she is so clever;I’m so proud of her; she’s the best leader ever”). Also, the praises and compliments on the main characters are really over the top.
I’m sad cause I really thought I would like this book, but I just don’t think I will be continuing the series.

Great book but could have been better

Ok, so I really enjoyed the story line of this book, great potential, my only grumble would be the writing. It's too wishy washy and not as gripping as what it could be. I found myself skipping over lines but at the same time, I couldn't walk away. Shame really as it was the writing that I decided to not go ahead with the second book.

Normal teenage girls, Alessandra and Kathryn while attending a fair come across a fortune telling tent. Alessandra is against going in but Kathryn looking for fun and adventure urges her best friend in having a fortune told by Madame Isabella.

Alessandra is given a fortune that upon hearing it knocks her out in a faint. When she awakens back home in her own bed with her beloved mother and father looking on, they tell her that the next morning they needed to tell her something, some things that are important, but that for the night she needed to rest. From there, things start to unravel.

The beginning portion of the fortune for Ally was that she'd lose two people who are closest to her heart, her mother and father are killed dubiously in animal attack. And thus begins the prophecy spoken of by the fortune teller. The following part of the fortune was a man who would be her soul mate, and another who wanted her dead.
On the following morning upon entering the kitchen she is met by her grandmother and mystery man James Carlisle. She is drawn inexplicably toward him. His beauty is breathtaking. He leaves the picture suddenly following meeting her the first time ...

5 years into the present Ally is no longer the 16 year old girl she once was, but is now a lonely dissociated private detective. While on a case, she witnesses a vicious attack by Vincent. Cruel and vile Vincent of the fortune that was told. The same Vincent that she's never met but has come to understand wants her life ended. James suddenly appears out of no where just as it seems that Vincent would kill her.

There are many secrets and mysteries that even with her private eye skills she has to learn on her own the hard way. Her gran Adele is sure to know something, but is unwilling to tell what it is. Rather she chooses to try to keep Ally protected and safe.

During a masquerade ball thrown by her gran, James happens back into the story and they are once again drawn to one another. This soul mate business the fortune teller spoke of can only be him. Adele and James have decided that the best thing to do to prevent Ally loosing her life is to keep her from knowing the truth until she is better prepared. In the meantime Ally's best friend Kathryn is introduced to Chase Callaghan and they are sure they are meant to be together. While in the garden this particular night Ally and Kathryn are disturbed by something lurking in the bushes and turn toward the house for escape. Adele is on the scene in seconds and discovers a vampire hiding in wait to kill Ally. James had been lured away by the evil Natalia, the Immortal turned villain keeping him from his bodyguard duty to Ally. He realizes that it is a scheme to keep him from protecting Ally and he must return and keep Ally safe. Adele and James make a plan to move Ally to safety in James' home land of Scotland. James induces her to sleep deeply and the next thing she knows, is she's on a plane to an unknown future.

They arrive in Scotland and along the way Ally and James' chemistry is building but Ally is fighting to keep control of her own destiny. She is drawn to the man, the house, and the land. Its like she's finally found a place where she belongs, she feels it within her soul.

Chase and Kat in the meanwhile are making a plane trip toward Scotland. He's convinced that Kat is his soul mate so he tells her about the Immortals and during the trip he proselytizes her into the Immortal life. As they land in Scotland the vampires land an ambush, knocking Chase unconscious and taking Kat as a pawn to use in getting to Ally.

Ally, James, and now Chase, who's arrived at the Carlisle Manor, are planning to reclaim their friend and soul mate, the lost Kat. All the while Ally is having dreams given by the ancient Immortals in order to help their cause. She sees Kat in an underground cell with a man. Not realizing that the man is indeed her grandfather Damian. Who was supposedly killed more than 50 years ago, who is also the soul mate of gran Adele and the brother (adopted) of James. The dream Ally has leads them to an abandoned property that hosts a cell underground, so they find Damian but to their chagrin Kat is not with him. As they are leaving Natalia and another vamp accost the process with Kat in tow on one end and Chase being held by Natalia in a death grip. Who by the way is also Chase's sister. After a short battle Chase and Kat are loosened and they realize Kat is not the same. She is either dead or turned because she's been bitten.

This is the longest story ever to review and it is difficult not to give spoilers. But it is an interestingly engaging story that draws the reader on. I enjoyed it, and am looking forward to the next in the saga!
