This was one of those novels where the basic idea sounds very simple when described--a teenager's near-death experience introduces her to supernatural beings and she becomes involved in their good vs. evil struggle--but it is still a complex and worthwhile read because Thomas creates realistic characters we care about.

This can be read over a weekend and I highly recommend it for supernatural horror fans.

I was amazed to discover this is a YA book. It never occurred to me this author would go down this route but, I suppose he's trying to trap readers young to feed into his adult stuff.
