Too shallow to be a useful critical history of the complex Hispanic community of Houston. The author's merely reviewed headlines from easy sources, very little actual voices from the Houstonians' residents, and elitist documents such as political, news mainstream easy access to main archives. What is absent the more street-level awareness of multiple class, gender, complex ethnicity, intra-national realities, and the multitude historical voices invisible in this volume.
