Cassandra Clare was born to American parents in Tehran, Iran and spent much of her childhood travelling the world with her family, including one trek through the Himalayas as a toddler where she spent a month living in her father’s backpack. She lived in France, England and Switzerland before she was ten years old.
Since her family moved around so much she found familiarity in books and went everywhere with a book under her arm. She spent her high school years in Los Angeles where she used to write stories to amuse her classmates, including an epic novel called “The Beautiful Cassandra” based on a Jane Austen short story of the same name (and which later inspired her current pen name).
After college, Cassie lived in Los Angeles and New York where she worked at various entertainment magazines and even some rather suspect tabloids where she reported on Brad and Angelina’s world travels and Britney Spears’ wardrobe malfunctions. She started working on her YA novel, City of Bones, in 2004, inspired by the urban landscape of Manhattan, her favourite city. She turned to writing fantasy fiction full time in 2006 and hopes never to have to write about Paris Hilton again. Cassie’s first professional writing sale was a short story called “The Girl’s Guide to Defeating the Dark Lord” in a Baen anthology of humor fantasy. Cassie hates working at home alone because she always gets distracted by reality TV shows and the antics of her cats, so she usually sets out to write in local coffee shops and restaurants. She likes to work in the company of her friends, who see that she sticks to her deadlines.
City of Bones was her first novel. Sword Catcher is her most recent novel.
Whether it's the book or manga, the ending still makes me cry. *sobs*
Oh and every time I read the name Tatiana -- ohmygod I want to murder that monster. Although I do feel bad with what happened to Rupert, I still don't like her.
I must say though. I was really excited to see Will singing the Demon Pox song bragging about how he was right, but it never happened. HOW COULD THEY NOT INCLUDE THAT SCENE?? *sobs* *rage* Although, there was a small part of it. (Jem's laugh omg im dying)
And then the scones scene was skipped too?!! YOU CANT REMOVE THAT SCENE😭 But at least I got to see a little more of Gideon and Sophie🥰 ^Henry is so clueless, I love it omg
Cecily's arguments with Will were just awesome. One thing I will always love about the manga is seeing the expressions on the characters' faces. ^Jem is always the peacekeeper smh—even between siblings.
And then some other Cecily and Will moments:
Also, seeing Will blush is just so sweet.🥺 And it happens a lot.😏
I still can't get over the ending though. It was bad enough reading about it but now you actually see it. the painn
Why do I keep doing this to myself???oh wait, because im a masochist
This is a short review of the whole trilogy of manga for the Infernal Devices series. I absolutely adore these mangas, it gave great visuals for one of my favorite trilogies. Some of the characters weren’t at all how I envisioned them but that’s totally fine(also everyone was super beautiful in anime form ahaha) Jem was beyond adorable in these mangas, just putting it out there. Overall, I’m super glad I got to read these to keep the shadowhunter momentum going.
Amaré a Will, Tessa y Jem toda mi vida.

I love this series so much y'all 😭 the manga was so cute and entertaining - those chibi reactions were absolutely amusing 😂 Really good and quick way to refreshen your memory on the plot I reckon!
“Father . . . ," Gabriel began. "Father is a worm."
I know, I just wrote a review for the manga of Clockwork Prince, and I already finished Clockwork Princess. You must think that I am crazy! But I finished reading both books before I wrote the review so I am doing both of them one after another. Anyway, I enjoyed this book so much, even though I was crying half of the time. It was so much like the actual books!
The feels were making me crazy and I felt like I was going through all the pain all over again. Tessa, Will and Jem have the most complicated situation and it was killing me. Every time I see them all together, I am thinking about the way they are feeling and how awkward it is at times. Their loyalty towards each other is just amazing and it brings tears to my eyes.
“Life is full of risks. Death is much simpler.”
In the end, I was crying so much because it was so sad but satisfying at the same time. Although I knew what was going to happen, I cried anyway. And it may be hard to believe, but I don't cry a lot when I read. But the actual books are so powerful and the manga was so beautiful and everything fit in place. It's too good to be true!
“It is a very strange thing, to be in love. It changes you.”
I highly recommend you read the Infernal Devices. I recommend reading the Manga after reading the series so that it wont be confusing and it would be nice and it is a faster way of rereading the books. I highly recommend this book and any other books by Cassandra Clare. And I want to start reading more Manga because of how much fun it was. I want to read more books by this Manga artist. I want to reread the actual books later on, when I am done my TBR list. (That is going to take awhile) I can't wait to continue reading more books and jumping into different stories!
WHAT a finale! I honestly couldn't put this book down. The illustrations continued to make me swoon, Jem was pure perfection (and so was Will) and there was death, treachery, battles and declarations of love *swoons*
The last few pages were simply beautiful!!! I believe the ending will go down in literary history (at least I hope it does). I would say it was the perfect love story but it was more of the perfect love triangle. Anyway, a truly spectacular read to give your heart a workout!
I try to express only my most honest opinion in a spoiler-free way. Unfortunately, there is still always a risk of slight spoilers despite my best efforts. If you feel something in my review is a spoiler please let me know. Thank you.
Oh, such a great series. Super happy with how the manga turned out. Probably will reread again.
Whether it's the regular book I'm reading or this manga edition with the art-work in it; this final installment of the trilogy guts me every single time while reading it, no matter how often I re-read it.. I just can't seem to cope with ALL THE FRIGGIN' FEELS, my god.. Phenomenal. I'm heart broken, emotionally crushed and I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
WHY did I read this again? Oh yeah, that's right; because they're my favorite reads, right? BUT READING THEM, and especially this last book, DESTROYS ME EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'm such a masochist..
And me ending up crying in foetus position shows me what a magnificent job the artist did with this final manga installment. The fact that this read was able to practically make me feel all the feels I always experience while reading the original book says enough I think.
There was one sentence I missed in this book though, it's a really important one to me personally - But other than that one sentence not being present in this book, it was just yet again utterly perfection!
YES, I'm devastated at the moment and I'm still wiping away my tears and trying to find a way to close the re-opened chaotic and unmendable wound that's called my shattered heart, but I can't do anything other than marvel in the magnificence of it all. The art-work was yet again spot on, the story-line was plot-driven, the characters and their development is wonderfully done and it all embodies exactly what the original book is like.
If you excuse me I will be here, crying my heart out and feeling lonely (again). Thank you Cassandra Clare and Hyekyung Baek for breaking my heart in the most beautiful way.
Update (04/18/2020): I don't think this story will ever not destroy me. Whether I'm reading the full novel or this graphic novel, I get hit with all the feels. But it's so good and I love this trilogy so much.
--------
After reading this, I think I need a little time to recover before I dive into my reread of the novels. While I felt that the character development of the characters in the graphic novels fell a little flat (due to the medium of the story - I didn't find this to be the case in the novels), this book still found a way to completely destroy me, and I am not so sure I can handle the feels if I were to immediately start rereading the novels.
I absolutely love this story and the series, and I am really glad I chose to read it in this form as well. I don't anything will stop me from loving these characters and how much they all love each other.
If you love The Infernal Devices, I definitely recommend giving the graphic novels a chance!
The infernal devices is one of my favorite trilogy's of all time, Cassandra Clare's books were phenomenal. Being very new to the manga genre, I was not sure what to expect when is came to these three adaptions. Let me tell you... I was blown away! The art was incredible beautiful and the story flowed effortlessly. I thought being so short that the essences of the story would be lost, that the characters would no longer appear as themselves. I was wrong. The manga successfully captured the reasoning and thought behind the characters motives. The art only enhanced the emotion behind the angst filled story. Of course being so short compared to the original book, parts had to be left out. But i can understand why and overall it didn't effect the story's plot. All in all i was definitely happy with the adaptation. I can't wait to explore what more manga has to offer.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Seeing Will and Cecily's facial expressions while they bickered made me chuckle. Best thing about this manga.
Ending made me tear up. Damn these love triangles. I still like Will more because, to me, he was a better match for Tessa.
The reason I read more graphic novels and stay away from mangas is that I can't really tell the characters apart. They all look the same to me- especially good lucking guys. Thankfully, every now and then the names are mentioned. haha
Love the original books still but damn did I enjoy these manga versions. Excellent illustrations, writing, and some hilarious moments that made laugh out loud. 😂
I think these made me love Jem with Tessa more than her and Will...but he's still amazing 😍
I have basically described this whole. Graphic Novel already...PERFECT. My favorite trilogy as many of you know isThe Infernal Devices & my favorite book isClockwork Princess so reading this and having this graphic novel was like the best thing ever.
Going back to London in the 1800s was perfect. Its amazing to read a book and a couple of years later read the graphic novel, which in this case, is what I did. I honestly loved this graphic novel. Every sketch and detail was on point and I would've honestly finished this in less than a day if it weren't for school.. I mean it is The Infernal Devices!
Im my opinion, everyone and I mean everyone should read Cassandra Clare's books, they are simply delightful. The Infernal Devices are my favorite out of all of them and they are a must read, after reading the actual books, reading the graphic novel is a must.
I cried, again, even if it's a manga and I already knew what would happen. It's just too sad and it's gonna be the thing that's gonna disturb me for the whole day. It's been a year now that I read the real copie, and it's been really nice to go back in the series and to live it again. I love these characters so much <3 They are my favorite. Especially Will. He is my favorite book boyfriend of all time and he will always be. This is also my favorite book, and it's been my favorite for a whole year!! It's just so good. Great to feel back the memories <3
