Back in the day, I was a big fan of Nintendo. I don't mean just the original NES; I mean the company as a whole, especially their iconic Mario and Pokémon franchises. Though I was never very good at any of the games other than the various versions of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy--seriously, I couldn't even beat Lego Star Wars with the Invincibility cheat on!--I played my consoles to death, especially my Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and GameCube. As you'd expect, I also subscribed to Ninten Back in the day, I was a big fan of Nintendo. I don't mean just the original NES; I mean the company as a whole, especially their iconic Mario and Pokémon franchises. Though I was never very good at any of the games other than the various versions of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy--seriously, I couldn't even beat Lego Star Wars with the Invincibility cheat on!--I played my consoles to death, especially my Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and GameCube. As you'd expect, I also subscribed to Nintendo Power magazine for years, as well as Game Informer for a little while. Just for fun, I used to read all the reviews of the games, even ones I wasn't interested in playing. One thing I noticed was that many video games based on movies and television shows got scathingly criticized; Nintendo Power had a field day with a Game Boy Advance version of That's So Raven. True, they weren't all bad--a Star Wars game that served as a GameCube launch title was lauded by critics--but, in countless cases, they were merely made to make money; the developers knowingly made shoddy work in hopes that some parent or grandparent would unwittingly buy it because his/her kid or grandchild was a fan of the film or television series.

Why am I talking about video games on a book review website? Simple: This book is to the flick Mirror Mirror what those negatively reviewed video games were to the movies or shows on which they were based: a mere cash grab. While the original film was good, this book isn't all that special; even for a film novelization, you can do much better. (R.A. Salvatore's adaptation of Attack of the Clones, anyone?) Between the big print, the short chapters, and the mediocre writing, this book was published merely to make money, especially considering its cover price of nearly six bucks. My friends know I rarely buy books new, so I probably got this at a garage sale or thrift store for less than a dollar; that's about what it's worth. At least it'll go well with the other items I plan on trading in at 2nd & Charles later this week... ...more

This was a great book. I thought was just like the movie, in my opinion, even better. It had humor, drama, and much more. I think I enjoyed it so much because the characters personalities were really built in the book. You could tell what type of person Snow White was or The Evil Queen, or even Buther. I would recommend this book for girls who is in for a romance and a little action. Overall, I really enjoyed this book.
