Jake is excited that the family is having guests for dinner because he'll have a bunch of friends to play with. Though not excited to actually clean his room, he wants to impress everyone with a clean room.

And thus begins well-intentioned Jake's downfall. Every time Jake begins to fix one part of his room, he has to dismantle that area first. It starts with re-organizing his chest of drawers contents. He then wants to make a list to systematize his organizing plan. Trying to put things in his cl

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest opinion. It did not affect my opinion in any way.

This was my daughter (six) and my first foray into the world of Jake. Since she has a bad habit of leaving a trail of mess (her and her brother are really good at that!), I thought it appropriate to start here. And we had such fun reading about the mess that grew into a monster one!

This book is about 50 pages, but we read it in less than half and hour. It was quite longer than her typical pi

Jake's mess reminds me of my youngest daughter's good intents at cleaning her room.  Jake had some brilliant ideas for organizing his things that ended up overwhelming his good intentions.   Thankfully his family and friends knew Jake meant well and was not just being mischievous.

Just reading the story I became overwhelmed for poor little Jake! With some children a few suggestions and overseeing the project with patience seems to be the key. Making it fun using some of their ideas meets with

Jakes Monster Mess is a picturebook written by Ken Spillman and illustrated by Chris Nixon. Jake's room is only slightly messy, until he tries to clean it! Jake's dad has invited people for dinner and asks Jake to clean up his room before the guests arrive. Jake's room is only slightly mess at the beginning of the story-- that is until he tries to clean it! After working for hours, Jake is shocked to find the result of all of his hard work: a small mess that is only getting bigger and bigger! Oh my! My son little man JJ, who is five gave this book two thumbs up and giggled all the way through because he identified with Jake and how one little mess ...more

Sometimes, a wrong choice leads to bigger messes than what we started with, even with the best of intentions. We don’t always see that choice we made as the wrong one until it’s too late sometimes and I can totally relate to Jake in Jake’s Monster Mess by Ken Spillman. In fact, I went through a very similar situation more than once! Read my full review at: https://becomingabookworm.wordpress.c...

Thanks to NetGalley for providing my son with an electronic ARC.

My 8-year-old is an avid reader, but he is rather selective about what sorts of books he reads (they have to be full of adventure and fun). This one was a winner for him: he told me to mention that it was "action-packed," and it clearly was a great read for him because he had it finished in under an hour. I'll be looking for more titles in the Jake series!

Jake cleans the way I sometimes do. I call it ADHD cleaning because you start out cleaning one thing then decide to clean another area to make room for some of the things from the first area and then you get distracted by something else and decide to clean it too and then you wind up with a bigger mess than you started with. The book is cute and silly and I think kids will definitely be able to relate to it and enjoy it. I received this book free to review from Netgalley.
