A mouse in a pet shop runs through the qualities of the other animals in a pet shop as he pushes his pro-mice agenda on potential pet adopters.

GReat book to introduce persuasive text to a classroom. The rhyming words and simple illustrations make the book a fun and easy read for a second or third grade classroom. This book could be used for either an independent read or a read aloud. I personally would use this book for an example of persuasive text, and have the students write a persuasive story following this read aloud.
I have never felt that Mice are nice to be pets. However when it comes to reading books, "Mice are nice" seems to be my son's most favorite book. Everyday he would want me to read at least twice or thrice to him. The reason for his liking could possibly be rhyming words, the colorful pictures of the various pets and of course the wonderful illustration.
A book to persuade you why mice make the best pets and why other animals do not. This book would be good to read if you were to get a mouse as a class pet. You could also explain that the other animals are ok to have as pets but the author thinks mice are the best pets.
