Thank you, T.J. Dell, for giving me a chance to read your book. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It looks like I gave the book 4 stars...but I say it's a 4.5-star book. Dang couldn't put a half a star on Goodreads/Amazon. Wish they would already give that option already.
Is it January yet because I want to read Volume 2 and find out what happens next to Lucas and Evie.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves cliffhangers, paranormal romance and loves read ...more

First off I will say I enjoyed the story. I like the characters and have always loved the 'bonded love' plot. But it was so short! I wasn't keeping an eye on the percentage as I went and suddenly the screen wouldn't go forward anymore. I have to say I'm glad I picked this up when it was free because I might be disappointed even more by the length if I had to pay for it. I guess if a main complaint is the length it isnt much of a criticism :) here's hoping the second book is much longer...

Evie isnt really loving life right now. After her parents died and she moved in with her grandma, she's just been moving minute by minute, but not really living. When she meets Lucas, though she feels alive. But Lucas has a secret. A big secret. One that may cost Evie her life of he doesn't clue Evie on soon...
I enjoyed this book, more than I thought I would. At first it was a bit rough but then I really got into the story and now I need to know what happens after that bit of a cliffhanger. ...more

Reactions:
After having regaled myself with "Her best friend's brother" by T.J Dell, I wanted to read her other books. I was interested in "Whispers in the woods" because the story was totally different from the first novel. The theme seemed more secret, more supernatural and it intrigued me.
I liked this book even if the story is quite short. Throughout the pages, I made assumptions about Lucas. I expected the conversation rejected, time afyer time, by Evie so impatiently ... I think it was the e ...more

I’d like to start off by saying that I’ve enjoyed this book for the most part. But I was put off by the dialogues and general personalities of the main characters. Evie didn’t seem to have any character at all other than the fact that she likes to be alone and that she couldn’t care less if her grandmother dislikes her very existence. Speaking of her grandmother…what grandmother? I keep thinking that she was nothing but a figment of Evie’s imagination. She often talked of her but she didn’t seem

I've said this before about Dell's books but it's especially true in this case - this is way beyond what I usually choose to read. I am not a fantasy or romance reader (except Dell is changing my mind). I've tried before but, with the exception of the Twilight books (which I LOVED), I don't think I ever completed a fantasy book before. Whispers caught my attention from the very beginning and kept me hooked until the end. What a cliff hanger! You'll be glad Vol II is already available. The wait w

I loved the voice of Evie, even though she seemed petulant and just plain stubborn most of the time (a little cold even - maybe she inherited it from her Gran?) I did enjoy the story line and the whole idea of two people bonding (I am a romantic that way) and so they could never again be apart from each other. It was a concept I have not read before, and I loved it. The story kept me interested enough to find out how it ends.

Okay, I liked this book - a little short but still a good read. One thing, I liked is that Evie isn't some pushover head in the cloud teenager. She is very logical. Good cliffhanger at the end, which means I would probably buy book 2.

Apparently I only gave this book 3 stars on my Kindle, I'm confused as to why I did that so I'm going to have to re-read this trilogy again to see what was wrong with it so I can possibly change the rating on here and on my kindle.

Didn't realize this was a novel for teens until halfway through. Great little story with strongly defined characters. Gotta love all the little quirks the author put in there.
