Beautiful illustrations and a good story too. I love Roger Duvoisin's unique and distinctive style, carefully chosen block colour with some black line drawing on top. The end papers are a wonderful repeat frog pattern that would make the most beautiful pyjama print. There's a lovely 60's feel to the artwork. There's a beautiful page of forest animals that look like they are painted so freely and with ease-wonderful. A nice message about considering the world around you and looking beyond your im ...more

Oh I do so love this book. It still has a handwritten 'ticket' tucked into its binding from when I decided to make my book collection into a library (following in my librarian mother's footsteps - sssshhhhush).

Frog leaves his well and immediately is confronted with an epistemological and existential crisis, through which he [spoiler alert!] arises, a more deeply satisfied frog.

2 frogs lived together but the marsh was all dried up. They found a deep well to live in, but the one frog said how would we get out. Think twice before you act.
