This book was an enjoyable read, written in an effortless style that draws you in from the first paragraph.

The first few pages had me settling in for a nicely-paced tale about an intriguing homeless man, but then the book grabbed me by the collar and threw me in another direction.

How the book switches between the main protagonists kept me engaged and curious, and also kept the story moving at a good pace. Just when you think you know all the characters, more are thrown into the mix to keep you g

This book was a complete surprise for me. It was not what I have expected from the short description. And it was not one of the genres I usually read. I always thought that science fiction was not quite for me. The Buffalo Kid made me curious to read more both of its author and of this genre.

But it would be not quite true to put this book onto the Science Fiction shelf only. I think it could well be put onto the shelves with books discussing social issues, politics, humanity, books about trust,

I won this book from goodreads-firstreads. I loved this book! It threw me at first when I saw it had extraterrestrials. This is a story of a man who had everything, job, wealth, home, and family only to lose it all and ended up living homeless on the streets of Buffalo. With a chance encounter with these extraterrestrials and through a test of mankind; he found he had a second chance at life again. I read this book out loud so my husband could hear(he doesn't read books what-so-ever) and he loved ...more

I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway. Thanks!
I was expecting something like a biography, but it is definitely fiction with a strong science fiction element. It is about a friendly alien who is researching and testing earth to see if it is ready for a helpful intervention. The test ends up rejuvenating a homeless man and an entire city. The Buffalo Kid is well paced with lots of well-drawn characters and interesting social commentary. It is a very hopeful story which is a nice contrast to

I won this book from a goodreads.com giveway. This book was not at all what I thought it would be. When I began reading I was extremely interested in the story, however, it took a very strange turn that did not interest me. It was well written and I enjoyed a lot of the story but (without giving too much away) I just could not get into the extraterrestrial part of the story.

Real Laplaine is one of my top 3 favorite authors. Amazingly so , because the genre of his writing is not something i am normally drawn to- yet he takes it and MAKES it your norm! Of all i've read and enjoyed of his, THIS book is truly my favorite.
The Buffalo Kid is a homeless man who once upon a time was quite the successful businessman......and yet...for 30 years he is known in the streets as the grungy Buffalo Kid.
Let the fantatstical begin. The other-wordly. Let the implausible become not

My name is Réal Laplaine. I'm Canadian born and raised. I worked much of my career in Los Angeles before relocating to Sweden where I continue writing and other aspects of my career. I pen high-concept thrillers. Some of my books are pure crime thrillers, some have an existential weave to them, while others have a thread of "science fiction", but as we all know, "sci-fi" is just a blueprint of tom ...more
