At 27 yrs old, graphic novelist Shane Larson believes in trusting the greater plan of the universe and doing good to the best of his ability. To him this is a matter of practicality as much as a spiritual belief about how to live right which is why the road Shane chooses to follow in his life is leading him to use his doctorate in clinical psychology to help people. When a one-night stand turns out to be the woman of his dreams, Shane ends up taking a giant detour from his original life path as the universe sends him to Reesa Callahan’s front door. There he finds not just the woman he wants over all others, but a whole family that seems to need him. Though being in love is turning out to be just as rewarding as his father predicted, a relationship with Reesa is definitely a package deal. Shane doesn’t know if he has what it takes to become an instant father of four, but his sense of belonging with Reesa and the kids is the strongest tug of destiny he's ever felt.
Reesa Callahan has lost a lot in the 34 years she'd been alive. At ten, she lost her birth family in a car accident. Then in college, she lost both her elderly adoptive parents. But when she lost her sister and her brother-in-law in a plane crash six months ago, Reesa decided she just couldn't lose anyone else. So she didn't even question trading in the life she had planned for custody of all four of her sister's children. Even though she also lost her established career and her fiancée taking on the kids, Reesa becomes determined not to lose her sense of herself as a woman. In hindsight, her decision to end her reluctant celibacy seemed like a good idea, especially with a shaggy, tattooed younger man wearing a tongue stud and eyebrow ring. She felt sure Shane Larson was not the sort of man to ever want more than one night. So when Shane shows up at her home professing to be in love with her, Reesa has to send him away, not because she doesn't want him, but because there’s just no time in her crazy life to fall in love.
I am an active dreamer and find writing to be the best way to use my creativity. Needing to satisfy both sides of my brain, I have become a cross-genre author of contemporary, romantic comedy, fantasy, science fiction, and paranormal romances.
I feel blessed that my books appear on bestseller lists for humor, romantic comedy, space opera, and more. I crave laughter from all my readers and focus my attention on making that happen as often as possible.
I love to hear from anyone who has read my books. Each reader is a hero or heroine to me. I am inspired by you.
This one centered on the blossoming romance between Shane, Will’s other son, and Reesa, his one-night stand, whom he can’t stop thinking about. As soon as he finds her, he realizes how much he can’t live without her and decides to prove it to the reluctant Reesa.
Although Shane is sure Reesa fell for him that night, how could it possibly work with Reesa’s busy schedule and her constant struggle to raise her dead sister’s four kids? That was definitely an honorable quality in her. She would need somebody that is responsible and hard-working, and she doesn’t think that fits Shane Larson, the graphic novelist with the long hair and tattoos. He’s basically a big kid himself. Well, she’s got enough kids to take care of. But then she realizes that Shane was making her and the kids smile again. Shane was doing everything possible to prove that he was in it for the long haul. Still, the boy moved pretty fast. Wanting to marry her already? In love with her? Jeez! The Larson boys don’t like to wait, do they?
I admit that hearing about all the other people being coupled and about the upcoming wedding of Will and Jessica was daunting and blasé. Must we keep on hearing about all these couples and marriage? Another annoying thing was the overuse of phrases like “he laughed” or “she laughed” with dialogue. I mean, seriously, how could they laugh out their speech all the time?
Overall, this was another kinky romance, but I was just getting tired of it all about midway through.
There is really a strong pull to find out more about the Larson family. Thankfully we get to hear about Shane this time.
He's a graphic novelist who is taking time to complete his dissertation on psychology. He stumbled upon the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with at a bar, only to lose her while he was sleeping - and she didn't give him enough details about herself for him to find her.
Reesa is a loving aunt who has given her all to keep her sister's children together and with her, as her sister and brother in law wanted.
There is no such thing as easy love for the Larson men. Shane luckily crosses paths with Reesa a coupke of weeks after their night together. Shane knows he has fallen in love with Reesa, but she is unable to think too much about that with all the other worries she has in her life.
And of course we get to hear more about the other Larson men and their women. Oh and a couple of new potential love interests have popped up in this book!
Such a good read. Again with the happy tears! Shane and Reesa are so amazing together.
Reesa had rules and didn’t believe in the happy ever after, but Shane doesn’t want to listen to her, making her wonder if he’s right and they could try to make it work, the only problem is Reesa doesn’t have the time, and Shane doesn’t fit the idea she has of responsible and hardworking. Reesa has enough to worry about, without worry about a man in her life. Shane wasn’t looking anything serious, until the mysterious woman knocked him off his feet, and disappeared. When he finds her, he realises that he wants to spend his life with her. Shane just has to get Reesa to realise that he can help her with her worries, they can make it work if she will just let him.
This was a beautiful love story!!! It had everything a reader could desire!!! It was absolutely perfect!!! It was sexy, romantic, sweet, really funny and engrossing!!! I loved that all the family was featured one way or another.... It really was great to be up to date on their lives too! There is such a delightful mix in this book of the kindness, support, niceness, sexiness, humor and deep love that I have found in Donna McDonald's books that makes all the characters feel so real and endearing. I absolutely love this family and you would too!
I have felt for the hero of this story, more so than his father or brother, from the previous two episodes, as Shane is the one that helped everyone through their dramas previously, but he didn't seem to have the same empathy for those people, when he needed a sounding board. Anyway, this is the best of a very good series, so far. The electric attraction between the two main characters is hot, sizzling off the page. The outcome is astonishing, but so right on so many levels. I love this writer's work!!
The characters were amazing. Reesa is such a strong and independent character and Shane is just what she needs as he steamrolls into her life and plants himself firmly.
This story had me smiling due to the great personalities of the characters.
Sometimes I would get confused at some of the lesser characters back stories like between Michael and Carrie. This is because I didnt read the other books. I wouldnt say that this detracted from the story.
Shane who is finally going to be Dr Larson has been bit by the love bug that has hit his big brother & a second time for his dad. Reesa is raising her sister & brother in laws children after their deaths & fighting with his parents to keep the kids together. They meet one night, that is all the time she has. A great story.
I am just loving the series. Shane and Ressa’s story was so good. I devoured this book in less than a day. The author’s writing is so good and I just love how the whole family is included in each story.
My favorite so far. Got hooked on Shane in book one. Loved the tall man with a teddybear heart and rugged good looks. Reesa and the kids are hilarious Buying the new book for sure
Ms. McDonald has done it again with Captured In Ink. I love the plot, conflict and the critical elements that makes a great story. Ms. McDonald's characters, their interactions with each other is so realistic. Captured in Ink is loaded with tenderness, sexiness, loving outside the box, standing up for your beliefs. Captured in Ink gives the reader real day to day difficulties the various coping mechanisms, handling situations especially a crisis such of death and leaving minor children shattered without their parents. Ms. McDonald's depictions of struggles in families goes above the heartbreaking level. The characters Shane and Ressa became members my family. I admire the talent, smooth fashion in which Ms McDonald writes; takes her readers on captivating emotional ride. Every character from main characters: Shane, Ressa, and the children, Mike and Carrie as well as the secondary characters drew me into the story from chapter one and kept me reading until the last page. In my opinion Captured in Ink is a wonderful story because Ms. McDonald's narrative keeps the conflicts so real (i.e):older woman younger man relationships, depression, pain and grief of tragedies, methods to overcome them, accepting people as they are, the importance of humor and its healing properties, being a true friend and what that entails. Captured in Ink provides the reader with powerful messages that will remain in your heart for a long time. I experienced the gamut of emotions. I cheered and appreciated the awesome power of having loving of family and friends. A reader of Captured in Ink feels the depth of compassion and gratitude throughout the entire book and if they don't relate to this heartwarming and sensuous love story my heart aches for them. I loved this book!
I continue to love Donna's work and this installment was no different. Shane and Reesa dealt with a lot of issues and the main characters from the previous books in the series continued to play substantial roles in this story. I'm curious to know if the outcome of the custody hearing will affect the relationship between the kids and their grandparents. Maybe this will be touched on in passing in book 4.
The biggest thing, to me, that was a negative was the formatting. Paragraphs, especially in the dialogue passages, were running together and it was difficult to discern when there was a speaker change and who was speaking. It's possible the formatting in the original document was correct but when converted to the Kindle format it all went out the window. I don't know. There were also a few words missing here and there, but not enough to upset the flow of the story.
This cute and sexy read is part of the Art of Love series. Shane Larson had a one night stand with Reesa Callahan and couldn't find her for weeks. Then fate intervened and he wound up on her doorstep by chance. Reesa is older than Shane by 7 years and is raising her deceased sister and brother-in-law's 4 children, ranging in age from 5 to 15. She needs a mature, stable man, not a young guy like Shane. However, Shane is ready to prove that he is the man she wants, and can be the man she needs.
It's always nice to get a chance to check in on the others in the series as well as reading about the main characters. Shane and Reesa had great chemistry, and to see them have those little moments of passion was so hot! The children in the story were so fun, but realistic as they were dealing with the loss of their parents. Another great read!
This book brought out Shane's personality in a manner that we hadn't seen heretofore in the other books in the series. While he matures immensely in this book, it's more his philosophy of believing in the positive power of the universe and his relationship w/ that universe that is detailed here. And what a positive response he receives!
Who wouldn't fall in love w/ Reesa? A woman who gives up everything to care for the FOUR children of her deceased sister, she is a strong, vibrant, powerfully positive role model...as are most of Ms. McDonald's female characters.
Also in this novel, Jessica and Will continue to fall more deeply in love, Carrie and Michael adjust and we learn that Brooke and Drake just might........
This is the third book in the Art of Love Series and all of them are well written and entertaining. I could not put any of them down. I like how the writer has woven the lives of this family together as a tapestry. It just keeps your interest. I enjoyed all of them but loved this book the most. The unspoken passion between Shane and Reesa is magnetic. a must read. There were times toward the end of the book where I thought that it needed to be prove read again and spell checked. There were a lot of typo's. But the plot and story line were captivating. I believe there is another one just after this and I plan to read that one as well.
I have been waiting some time for this book and it did not disappoint! Shane and Ressa had a hot one night stand and Shane has been searching for her ever since. Ressa can not imagine having romance in her life because she has committed herself to raising her nieces and nephews after the death of her sister and brother-in-law. How these two figure out how to be with one another is a great read! It also sets up the next set of books in the series. You can read this as a stand alone but the book is funnier if you have read the previous books in the series.
This part three in a series written about an artist's (Will) and his growing family. In this chapter we start with Will still searching for his most recent lover. With guidance from above they meet again. His gal 'Ann" has a real name and hidden family. In quick mode, they rekindle their union and Will becomes a step dad in a well crafted work. I highly recommend this book and author.
This one is my fav in the Art of Love series! I love Shane and Reesa! This story captured my heart and I enjoyed every minute of it. Reesa and the children endeared themselves to me. Loved Princess Sara and her dancing shoes, Zach's witty banter with Shane, Aunt Jillian's relationship with Reesa. I mean I could just go on and on, I even loved the Judge presiding over the custody case. This is a series I don't want to see end!
Shane is the artistic hero who is smitten with Reesa the first time they meet. He woos her and wins her but it isn't easy! She suddenly became the guardian of her four orphaned nieces and nephews and is struggling to cope with her new lifestyle and all the responsibilities. Shane's family is a welcome addition to this story as they support Shane in his quest. Delightful read; I highly recommend it.

This is was probably the sweetest of all of the stories because of Shane's personality. But since he also seemed like the sexiest of the three, I enjoyed the steamier scenes as well. Again, I love the character development that Donna McDonald takes the time to produce. These characters and this series is not one I am likely to forget. I highly recommend this author to anyone looking for a insane romance and good stories.
This book is not bad at all, it was just missing some thing for me. I really liked the beginning of the book, but got bored towards to the middle. Is really weird though, I really liked the characters, but felt disconnected from the story. The lovely feeling wasn't there for me, but as I said is a good book!
So sweet, so romantic but also realistic, this story of Shane and Reesa. I think what I like beyond the artistic environment, is as the author portrays the male characters, so hot and strong minded but also without fear to show their sentiments, and as passion , love, desire got the female protagonists give themselves to their lovers. All without much angst, drama and misunderstandings .
So happy to read Shane's story it was just as good as Will's and Michael's books. Love this series I love how the character's are real and have real life stories. I also love when Donna's brings out a mention of Ky in the books. I was drawn to her books cause she was an author from Ky I've stayed and read book after book cause I just enjoy reading them.
Captured in ink is a direct hit. WOW. This is the third book in the Art of Love Series and all of them are well written and entertaining read. I couldn't put any of them down. I like how the writer has woven the lives of this family together from one book to the next. It just keeps your interest. I enjoyed all of them, but this one was the best. I loved Princess Sara and her dancing shoes.
I liked how Reesa fights to keep her nieces and nephews together after their parents' death. I like how it felt right that she pushes Shane away because he doesn't seem to be the right one for the family. The kids are cute and also interesting as the author manages to have them react very differently to their parents' death.
Wow, Wow, Wow - Not sure I've met another author like Marie Force that can make me feel so many emotions in reading a story. I laughed (great senses of humor), cried, got mad, and sad. I love all of these and moved right on through them in just a few days - now moving on the Dr. Daniels' story - should be another good ones. These characters are wonderful as are their stories. Thank you Donna.
I was right! Well I sort of was right. I had a feeling I knew what Reesa wouldn't tell Shane in the previous book about why she had to be home that night and could only have the one night with him. I really loved reading this book. I love Shane and knew I would love his and Reesa's story. And Princess Sara, lol, love her! This was such a great book! Really looking forward to book 4!
