DNF at 50%. I don’t like abusive men, there is no justification for him terrorizing her and then hurting her for nothing more than asking questions, he felt not one wit of guilt over bruising her, and she rewarded him for that with sex... yeah I was done with that.

Ivy Bailey, vampire hunter, works to keep the streets of Chicago safe from unruly vampires. Unbeknownst to her, though, she is being hunted as well. Christopher Bell, a vampire himself, shows up at the right place at the right time, and saves Ivy from an awful fate. This then begins a relationship that is great fun to watch unfold.

Gruesome murders are taking place in the city, and due to various reasons that are discovered much later in the b

Ivy Bailey is not quite a vampire hunter; she is more of a vampire watcher. She observes vampires to make sure they are keeping themselves in line. If not, she’ll report them to Chicago’s head vampire. As she is following one particular vampire stalker, she realizes she herself is being stalked – by Vampire Enforcer Christopher Bell. After he captures her and takes her for questioning, they realize more is going on then they thought. There are ritualistic murders, disappearances, and a frightene ...more

PERSONAL DEMON is difficult book to review. Not because it’s bad, but because it’s so average on just about every level. The characters are fine though not really memorable, the plot is descent though nothing that really captivates, and the romance was pretty standard without any real excitement. There was never a scene that compelled me to keep reading, but there wasn’t anything that put me off either. It’s the kind of book you read because there isn’t

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Guest Reviewer - Kathy M:

I wasn’t familiar with author Susan Sizemore’s work and so I was wonderfully surprised by how much I enjoyed Personal Demon.

Someone or something is committing horrifying murders with dark magic involved and Ivy Bailey, one of Chicago’s vampire hunters, is given the task of stopping the killings. Unfortunately, Vampire Enforcer Christopher Bell has his own investigation going on which keeps derailing Ivy’s mission.

Susan Sizemore has written several books which I have enjoyed so I was thrilled to see a new book by her on the shelves of Barnes and Noble. Out of the stack of books I bought, this was the first one I chose.

I was disappointed. It's been a couple of years since I last read any of the Blood series so I think I've lost a lot of the more subtle nuances of the story. I found the protagonist to be a bit too perfect and Christopher was just too... bossy for my taste.

I don't like it when there is no re
Interesting vampire world. This story takes place in Chicago where vampires have a different relationship with the rest of humanity than they do in other places.
One thing I find difficult is how fast vampire Christopher Bell turns around from his previous philosophy to a new way of thinking. The fast romance is less of a problem, since that's apparently how the author has structured her world.
One interesting quirk is that the vampire suffers from synesthesia, where a person hears colors or taste

I love this series and it has been a long dry spell in between books. I love the vampire world created by Sizemore. But to make it better, the story takes place in Chicago, one of my favorite locales. The heroine is a Bailey, a psychic family of witches. (The Baileys were featured in the third book of this series, Companions. Companions is my favorite book and the series.) The bad guys are famous serial killers possessing the bodies of Chicagoans. The hero is a British vampire. The story is sexy ...more

It's an enjoyable book, and I like that she writes her heroines quirky and her heroes have to be masculine and interesting but not drop dead gorgeous. For people that are really into world-building/detail in paranormal, this would probably rate closer to a 5, but I find I'm not that deep of a person so she tended to lose me a bit. I tend to need the romance to be the main part of the story with any paranormal or intricate back-story stuff coming in second. And I've discovered that I'm not a huge ...more

This book was okay, but nothing really memorable about it either. The characters and plot were alright but once again not really great. I felt like some of the scenes just happened, for no real reason and without a clear buildup to them. The relationship between the two main characters also started off all of a sudden without any real reason.Overall an easy quick read but nothing to rave about.

I agree with many of the other reviewers - not a bad book, but not especially memorable. For the genre, pretty average (and hence 3 stars). I will add that it was a good book to read on an airplane - kept my interest and didn't require too much concentration.
3.5 stars.

This book seemed to have a little bit of everything but it wasn't overwhelming or a jumbled mess. I haven't read the other books in this series bu based on this one now I think I will. This is the sixth book in the Laws of Blood series.
Enjoyed it, just another vampire twist. Seems to be my thing now.

Very funny! I loved the chemistry between the two characters and the overall storyline. I need to go back now and read this series from the start.

This book is fantastic and funny. The story of a vampire hunter that is being stalked and is rescued by a vampire Enforcer (a vampire made to enforce their laws). Vampires, witches, demons. Oh my!
