The Rule Of Reason

PLEASE NOTE: This book is a variation on Impulse & Initiative/To Conquer Mr. Darcy, and should not be considered a completely separate novel. The first third of the books are virtually identical, but after that the plots diverge substantially. In my opinion, Impulse & Initiative is a stronger book, but The Rule of Reason has some segments which I particularly like. ...more

Not sure when I read this but it was close the to publication date. It is not even listed any more so I couldn't write a review.

Oh, my. No, no, no. I just don't buy the idea that Darcy would persist for so long with the convoluted illogic that makes him act the way he does in the second half of this variation of To Conquer Mr. Darcy (a.k.a. Impulse and Initiative). Regardless of how strong his emotional wounds are as a result of his mother's illness and death, I can't see his character as described in the first half of this book withdrawing from Elizabeth like this. Even their discussion when she finally confronts him ta ...more

I really liked this book better than Ms Reynold's revised addiction "Impulse and Initiative". I guess that make me a prude but I really don't like Darcy and Elizabeth to precede thier vows. I just wish this book was available for kindle. I still love all of Ms Reynolds books. Wish she would write more P&P variations.
Definately remember reading the first seven chapters in I&I and the last chapter as well. The rest was good but Darcy's character to withdraw from Elizabeth was so unlike him especially after all the struggles he overcame to have her and marry her. Still Love Abigail Reynolds!

I loved how it started, but once Darcy returned to Hertfordshire I couldn't stand the way he behaved. He is supposed to be trying to make her fall in love with him, but instead he keeps pressuring her while claiming he won't rush her. He didn't feel like Mr. Darcy at all. I also didn't believe that Elizabeth and Darcy were in love. This was all lust.

A Pride and Prejudice variation. What if after the proposal at Hunsford Colonel Fitzwilliam persuades Darcy to try again with Elizabeth.
So Bingley and Darcy arrive at Netherfield before Elizabeth leaves for the North with the Gardiners.
