Good Girl Gone Bad

Rate this book
IN HER SIZZLING DEBUT, KARIN TABKE SETS THE SCENE WITH HARD-HITTING COPS, A SCANDALOUS CRIME, AND UNINHIBITED PASSION THAT CAN'T BE DENIED....

Straight-laced, by-the-book police officer Philamina Zorn has always lived by the letter of the law -- that is, until she is assigned to work with Lieutenant Ty Jamerson, a tough-as-nails, arrogantly handsome cop who knows exactly how to press her buttons. Staking out Klub Kashmir, the Bay Area's hottest gentleman's club, Phil and Ty go undercover to bait the kidnapper of three young women -- including two strippers from the club -- while trying to keep their clashing personalities at bay. Baring more than just her inhibitions, Phil dons a barely there ensemble, straps on stilettos, and reveals her feisty side as Kat, a seductively sexy cocktail waitress who lets her luscious curves do the talking. Not only is she determined to expose a criminal but she has vowed to show her hot-headed lieutenant, a.k.a. floor manager of Klub Kashmir, that she's no shrinking violet.

As Phil and Ty become more deeply entrenched in the sordid underground world of exotic dancing, where money means everything and passions run wild, flaring tension becomes uncontrollable lust. It's all they can do not to surrender to desire -- a hunger that intensifies with each playful encounter. Meanwhile, a cold-blooded criminal is hiding in the shadows -- and a devastating secret that, if revealed, could shake Phil to her core.

REVIEW OF REREAD 1 FEB 2012
This didn't stand up to a reread:(
3 stars, at most. Reading my review of my first reading, I'm confounded by my positive descriptions!

I found Good Girl Gone Bad sophisticated, riveting and oh-so-erotic though it's a romance, not erotica. I've waited so long for a contemporary erotic suspense such as this - ie, no vampires, werewolves, psychics or aliens. Just plain, pure contemporary romantic suspense with erotic elements.

What makes Good Girl Gone Bad different from my usual romantic suspense fare is that it has a satisfying dose of scorching hot sex scenes - something the mainstream romantic suspense lack - yet it's so well-balanced and fits into the plot. Being a guzzler of erotic romances these days, I am, however, not a paranormal fan and most of the erotic romances that have suspense and action are paranormals. When I chanced on Good Girl Gone Bad, I took the leap and bought the tradeback (too expensive to be my regular purchase format) and I am just blown away by this book!

The romance between Tyler and Phil is believable and I found myself aching to see Tyler finally give in enough to let their romance develop instead of insisting it was only sex. While I did miss my formulaic HEA, the HFN ending was good enough. it is a happy end to a wonderful story and there is absolutely no doubt in the reader's mind that Tyler is deeply in love with Phil.

Still, I'm hoping that the second book, Skin, which features Tyler's yummy colleague, Reece, will have Tyler and Phil making appearances and I might even have Tyler finally saying those Three Little Words to Phil that he refuses to say to her in GGGB.

Oh Nooo......how can book 2 be so good and book 1 so bad?!

If I hadn't known she is a great writer (a.k.a. Karin Harlow), I would have much more to say about the writing...and the plot...and the price for this e-book!

Finally I am reading a book by Ms. Tabke that I was expecting. I debated on the erotica selection for this book. I ended up adding it only because Phil worked undercover in a strip club. I liked this book so much that I've put Ms. Tabke back on my authors to read. I can't wait to read Skin - Skin by Karin Tabke . Back to Good Girl Gone Bad, ASSHOLE ALERT!! Ty is a jerk! I don't care if he has Geesh, he's such a sleaze bag. While he is the hero in this book, I think of him more as an anti-hero. He does come through and helps Phil, but still, I think Phil could do better.

Phil on the other hand is woohoo! As an IA turned to undercover, it was pretty fun that she had to work at a stripper bar. I loved her act and her ability to become a sexual woman. This was a coming of age rite of passage for her, at least in my mind. She's smart, plays by the rules, yet is quite naughty. She's the whole package for me. She does have daddy issues, but these are totally understandable. The sex scenes were okay. Honestly, I kind of skipped over them since they didn't interest me that much. Ty was too much of an asshole for me to really care to read about his sex. I kept hoping he'd have performance issues. The stripping scenes, I did read very carefully and enjoyed.

I recommend this to anyone who likes cops.

Pretty good, but I didn’t feel good enough to recommend it.

STORY BRIEF:
Phil (female) is a policewoman assigned to work undercover with Ty and two other police officers in a strip club. Ty’s undercover role is floor manager. Phil initially works as a scantily clad cocktail waitress and later becomes the club’s most popular strip-tease dancer. Ty is turned on when seeing her as a waitress and even more so when she dances. Three women who previously worked in the club had been kidnapped. Ty’s group’s job is to find the kidnapper and the women.

REVIEWER’S OPINION – CAUTION SPOILERS:
Ty and Phil start falling for each other, but things are back and forth between them. Some of their conflicts are due to vague communication which I didn’t like. As soon as Ty and Phil have sex, Ty immediately makes a date with another woman, due to his fear of commitment. That didn’t feel right to me and felt like another excuse to have a conflict between them. Although Phil is inhibited with issues from her past, I didn’t like the way she would tease him and then say no. She wanted sex, but would say no to herself as well. I also didn’t like that Phil got mad at Ty because he wouldn’t tell her about another case still in progress. In general, I didn’t like or have enough sympathy for Phil. Once Phil started performing on stage as a dancer, the audience no longer wanted to see the other dancers and only wanted to see her. The audience yelled her name and didn’t tip the others as well. I felt sorry for the other dancers. I think I was jealous of Phil which is not good because I want to like the heroine. I’ve read other books with gorgeous and model perfect heroines and was not jealous, so I don’t understand why Phil bothered me, but she did somehow. The final scene of catching the bad guys was too easy for me. Certain people just happened to show up at the right place at the right time for things to work out. Other than that, the plot was good like many books, but nothing surprised or delighted me enough to rate more stars.

DATA:
Story length: 354 pages. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: 7. Length of sex scenes: 1 short scene (1 page) 4 medium scenes (2 to 5 pages) and 2 long scenes (10 and 19 pages). Total number of sex scene pages: 46. Setting: current day Bay Area (according to the back cover), I assume California. Copyright: 2006. Genre: contemporary romantic mystery with some suspense.

3 stars - Romantic Suspense/Erotica

Good Girl Gone Bad by Karin Tabke is an undercover cop and bad guy procedural centering on the underbelly of exotic dancing and human trafficking. Author Tabke is married to an ex-cop, which seems to lend an air of believability to her writing. My overall rating is lower mainly because I really didn’t care much for either the female cop heroine, Philamina “Phil”, the cop hero Ty, or for their relationship. I found them both to be rather irritating, so I just couldn’t get that deep into the story. There are quite a few steamy scenes and enough intrigue and suspense to make it worth the read, but it would have been a better book if the characters weren't as annoying.

Tabke gives you sexy cops, a Who did it mystery and romance I loved it!!!
I love Karin Tabke's writing and i loved this book!!! Phil was smart, sassy and sexy she jumped off the page. Phil and Ty's love affair was awesome and even tho he would act like an A-hole you could see his feelings blossom and could tell there was no way to stop it. Tabke has a way to pull readers in to her romances by adding just the right amount of everything- sex, suspense, action and of course mystery. I loved it!!

My Ratings
Characters- Sexy as hell and Savory
Writing Style- Good
Plot/Summary- Good
Overall- Enjoyed it

I thought this one looked interesting but the digital book was $15.99! I would never pay that! But when it was available at the library, I downloaded it. It was way more erotica than I expected. I actually liked the premise and the anti-hero, Ty. He and Phil had their issues and they worked those issues out together, in an explosive way! I liked the undercover operation aspect of it. I appreciated the epilogue. I'd continue with the series. Warning: You have to really be in the mood for a very steamy, erotic read though, since that overshadows the other aspects of the book.

I'm pretty sure this was supposed to be an edgy erotica with mystery and intrigue thrown in.
It was just badly written, with weak characters and a transparent plot. Not my cup of tea.

I went in with no idea about this book or author. I grabbed this book out of a free bin. I am very impressed with this book and really enjoyed it! There spice, there’s mystery and there’s murder. You think you know how it ends but when you get there, it’s a complete shocker. There’s several more books in this series but it seems like it’s about the characters you meet in book one. Book one does not end on a cliffhanger and has a great ending.

Gee. Golly. Gosh. This is one hot book! I knew from the cover what was involved, but hoo boy! I’m not sure what was hotter, the leading man, or the things he did. Hell, let’s just go with both.

So Ty is a cop that has been repeatedly investigated for unprofessional and un-cop-like behavior. He has that whole “living-on-the-fine-line” thing down pat. He’s deep undercover at a strip club trying to locate the person responsible for 3 strippers gone missing to human trafficking, plus one of their own. The only problem is he needs an experienced female cop to go undercover as a worker at the club since his other one fell victim to their criminal. Enter Philomena. She was one of the many IA officers who investigated Ty, but that was 3 years ago. Now, she’s been assigned to Ty’s case as his new undercover officer for the club. Do they clash? But of course!

From the beginning, the tension between Phil and Ty was palpable. They spent a handful of it arguing and trying to show each other up, yelling at each other about the past. But their attraction is scorching!

Ty is nothing short of sex on legs. His confidence in his job and his ability to perform sexually is evident. He is the king of his castle and then some. He spent the majority of the book fighting his attraction to Phil, but failing miserably. I really liked the struggle he went through to discover his true feelings about her. It felt as though it were very real. I found myself really pulling for him and praying that he would make the right decisions. That man didn’t let me down!

Philomena was a great leading lady. In the beginning, she was very prim and proper because of her upbringing. She balked at what she was expected to do undercover, but she took to it like a pro, and a hidden bad girl emerged and flourished. She drove Ty absolutely insane with lust with her server outfit…and then some. I loved that she became such a strong person, being thrown into a position that forced her to become nothing short of a prostitute, and still keeping her dignity and professionalism with the rest of the team (-giggle-), was very commendable. Especially when Ty kept comparing her to his mother, who was a...(word that rhymes with more), for there really isn’t a better word to use. Granted, he never came out and called her that, but Phil was smart and picked up on what he was thinking. I was kind of miffed about that aspect, I don’t enjoy reading anything where the woman is called names like that, but I admit it was don’t in a way that wasn’t completely offensive. Ty had a nasty childhood and a twisted way of thinking of women, and Phil came along and changed that. It ended up really working for the story.

Did I mention this story was hot? Like scorch your mouth, burn your hands, blow up the world hot? I don’t know how many times I found myself needing to be fanned. It was sultry and sexy and just flat out drool-worthy. I loved the interaction between Ty and Phil. When they lit up the pages, they really connected and cared for each other in a way that captured me and made me absolutely love them. Yes, even Ty and his demented views.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book. If you can get past the fact that Ty is a little bit of an ass with his comparisons to his mother, this is a scorching hot read! I can’t wait to get the next one!

Good Girl Gone Bad is the 1st book in Karin Tabke's Hot Cops series. In this book we meet police officer Philamina Zorn and Lieutenant Ty Jamerson. Philamina is a straight-laced IA officer that believes the rules should always be followed no matter the reason, and the cops who can't follow these rules should have the book thrown at them, no matter what. Her theory is jeopardized when she is assigned to an undercover case with Ty. Ty isn't afraid to do what it takes to solve a case, even if it means bending the rules a little. From day one, Ty and Philamina push one another's buttons, each wanting something the other can't give. As the pair become even more involved in the undercover case and with one another, secrets from the past begin to arise that could rip the team apart once and for all.

This is a book that has been sitting on my TBR shelf for quite awhile; since I had picked up and read copies of Skin and Jaded, the 2nd and 3rd books in the series. I fell in love with the series then, and knew I had to read the rest, so I finally picked this one up. Unfortunately, with such a huge TBR list, this one got pushed to the back. A challenge to read a book from a series had me searching my shelves and I came across this one and knew it was finally time.

I picked it up, knowing how much I had loved Tabke's writing from previous books and trilogies and also how much I had loved the other books in the series already. When I started reading Good Girl Gone Bad, I hoped this would still be the case, and you know what? OF COURSE IT WAS!! I don't know why I was ever really worried. Quickly, I fell in love once again with her writing which is just so simple and beautiful. Her characters and that case instantly captured my attention, and I couldn't put the book down. Even now that I'm done with this book, I'm craving more of her writing, even if it means going back and doing re-reads!

This series, besides being written beautifully, has a little bit of everything. Romance, alpha males, strong willed woman, mysteries, crimes, and hot cops. I love this series and Karin Tabke's writing! I recommend checking out some Hot Cops!

Philamina, or Phil, Zorn has been at odds with Ty Jamerson and his team ever since she was a part of an internal investigation involving him. Now she's been assigned to help Ty and his team with an undercover investigation of Klub Kashmir. The clubs dancers are being kidnapped and Phil is going in as bait.

Ty Doesn't think Phil is up to the job but is shocked when she shows up as the newest cocktail waitress and even more surprised when she is quickly promoted to dancer.

The heat between Phil and Ty is scorching while they get deeper and deeper in their investigation. It's wrong for them to be together and it seems like Ty has some attachments he neglected to mention. But it's getting more and more dangerous for Phil to be part of the operation, especially since threatening notes against her keep turning up.

This book was so hot! Phil and Ty shouldn't be together not only because he is her superior but because they have a history that is no where near pleasant. Ty thinks Phil is a rat for internal affairs and Phil thinks Ty may have destroyed her family. They both push each other to the limits but they break at the same time and in the same way.

Ty was kind of a jerk to Phil in the beginning but he softened the more he learned about her and her history.

Ty and his team are all alpha males and think there's no way Phil can be a good part of their team so she has to prove herself a lot when she first goes to the club. As a woman I was proud of how much she stood up for herself in many of the situations but there were times I really wanted one of them to intervene to give her a break.

Surprising ending, didn't see that coming, but it did make me happy.

Good Girl Gone bad by Karin Tabke

This is an interesting series and I liked this first book.

The description of the book I am listing below is from the back jacket of the book. I'm adding it because I believe the one on the Goodreads page does not depict the complete description of this story.

Philamina Zorn (Phil) believes that her father is innocent of crimes and that he did not commit suicide, but was murdered. When she worked in Internal Affairs, she and Lieutenant Ty Jamerson started to hate each other. He was her first case. Now, they meet up again because she was transferred over to Undercover work . In order to infiltrate a Club Kashmire, a club where girls have started disappearing. The girls are suspected of having been kidnapped to be a mistress of some third-world seikh. Phil first starts off as a cocktail waitress but her beauty eventually puts her as the favorite dancer/stripper at the Club. Ty works as stage manager there and two other undercover officers have become regulars at the club. During all this, Phil and Ty work through emotional baggage and come to love each other. Another thing that comes out to complicate things is that Ty worked on her father's case and trailed him. In the end, the answer came out that Phil's friend at Club Kashmir, Candi, was the one who coerced the girls into writing goodbye letters and Phil's father's best friend is the father of the stripper's child. That guy sold the girls to his contact in San Francisco who in turned sold them to seikhs. Candi had a huge crush on Ty and was only selling out girls for money and because the father of her baby threatened to to take her baby away from her. In the end both Candi and the father of her baby dies.

I thought that this was a typical romance story. I loved the jealousy Ty has when Phil strips because he does not want other people to see her naked. I also liked how he had trouble kissing because of intimacy fears. Overall, a not bad book.

In Tabke's first novel length book we go undercover with police officers Ty Jamerson and Philamina Zorn. Someone is kidnapping dancers from the Bay area's ELITE gentleman's club....Now Ty and Phil must join forces to find the kidnapper, two strippers and an undercover cop. There is just one "small" problem....Ty and Phil don't get along. Ty doesn't trust anyone - especially women and Phil is determined "best" Ty by proving that her undercover character - Kat - is hardcore.

As things start to heat up in their case, tension turns into uncontrollable lust. It's not a matter of "if" Ty and Phil will give into that lust but "when." Meanwhile, there is still a criminal to catch and a painful secret that is being kept from Phil that if it were to be revealed it would shock her in a very big way.

Glad I took a chance on this 'new to me' author. Phil (a female IA cop) first met Ty, a police sergeant 3 years prior. They did not start off well. Years later, Phil is transferred to Ty's (now a lieutenant) under cover team. Phil has past issues that keep her alone, never giving men a chance. Ty has past issues and is a 'love 'em and leave 'em' type. What I loved about this book was the writing style. As these two work together to solve the case, the rapport is touching and very romantic. I found myself smiling and savoring the story. Although I was able to figure out who must be the 'bad guy', that did not distract with the interaction of the main characters. Looks like next in series will focus on a supporting character. I can hardly wait to read next installment. I thoroughly enjoyed this one!

As big fan of Karin Tabke's historical Blood Sword Legacy series, I started reading this novel not knowing what to expect. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to read her other contemporary novels!

Good Girl Gone Bad is a hot and sexy romance with a gripping storyline. I could not put this book down. It was a fast paced, scorching page turner with a well written plot. The chemistry between heroin Philamina Zorn and Hero Ty Jamerson was sizzling. There is a history of bad blood between them they must push to the side when are assigned to work undercover together at a strip club to uncover a serial kidnapper. As well as being a passionate story it was also an exciting who dunnit to the very end. I can't wait to check out Karin's other stories.

I liked the book, it kept my interest. There was a good mix of romance and intrigue and mystery which was great!

The characters were a little annoying and I'm not a fan of female characters with guy names, it gets confusing.

I didn't really believe that Ty had suddenly realised his feelings for Phil at the end, it just didn't seem believable...

The chemistry between them was hot. Sizzling in fact and I really enjoyed the unique sex scenes that Phil acting as a stripper provided.

It was interesting seeing a woman begin to open herself to her sexuality.

Three out of five stars for this one.

absolutely loved it :))

I think ...no, i know karin tabke just got a new fan

Phil is a cop, a daughter of a cop and on a mission. She wants to find out who is to blame for setting up her father and consequently causing his death. Having incredibly prudish upbringing she finds herself out of her comfort zone after being put on an undercover teem to find out who is kidnapping strippers. Not in touch with her inner femme fatale and under the command of an infuriatingly sexy boss...

imagine the rest :) or better read the story

I have seen this scenario done in a book before, but done better. Phil and Ty weren't all that likable to me. From the start they pretty much hated each other and it stayed that way for 3/4 of the book, but it sure didn't stop them from being attracted from each other or even having sex.

One thing that I really liked about this book was the way that Phil embraced her sexuality. She was very much the buttoned up, repressed person, but once forced to work undercover at a strip club things change fast. From cocktailer to dancer that causes riots was a fast ride for her.

It was OK. Could have been loads better. The plot was predictable, with one twist I didn't see coming. But the other was really obvious. The sex was steamy, but I have major issues with Ty. He really needs to see a shrink. Seriously. For 11.99 on Ebook, I was sorely dissappointed with this book and had I known, I would not have purchased it. I'll re-read Eve and Roarke when I need a police procedural mystery thriller.

I really enjoyed this book...the steamy back and forth between Phil and Ty not to metion the mystery. Karin Tabke has away of building up the sexual tention between her charactors and then letting it linger. It was amazing, by the time they gave into each other I don't know who was more ready them or me!! LOL!
Great read that keeps you interested through out the book and doesn't fail you at the end! :)
