MAKE BETTER HEALTH DECISIONS FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
You already know that proper diet, exercise, controlling your environment and rest can keep you in good health. But you're still not sure you're doing enough. You may have seen family or friends devastated by illness-even those who took great care of themselves. Could they have done more to prevent disease? What they did probably helped. But there's more to creating and sustaining good health than you may know. The truth is...
WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW MAY BE KILLING YOU!
Dr. Don Colbert faced personal health struggles, and when his own profession was unable to give him answers or help, he turned to more natural health-related disciplines. The answers he found surprised him then, and this new, updated information may surprise you today!
Don Colbert, MD, has been a board-certified family practice doctor for over twenty-five years in Orlando, Florida, and most recently in Dallas, Texas. He is also board-certified in antiaging medicine through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and has received extensive training in nutritional and preventive medicine. He is the author of three New York Times best-selling books: Dr. Colbert's Keto Zone Diet, The Seven Pillars of Health, and Dr. Colbert's "I Can Do This" Diet, along with best sellers Toxic Relief, the Bible Cure series, Living in Divine Health, and Stress Less. He has sold more than ten million books and treated more than fifty thousand patients in his years of practicing medicine.
“Our health industry is based on treatment rather than prevention. Where is the passion to attack the root causes of the worlds health problems?” The book was written from a Christian medical doctor who takes a wholistic approach to health. I appreciated the combined perspectives. Taking into consideration this book was published 20 years ago, there wasn’t anything significantly ground breaking. However there were definitely insights I enjoyed learning. My favorite section was on deadly emotions and how negative emotions impact our physical health. “If a negative person can sap my energy, what must that attitude be doing to his or her own body.” A quick read, I enjoyed the book but would not recommend to those who have already invested time and energy into researching wholistic living.
I think the author bit off more than he could chew with this one. I'd like to take some precautions against disease, especially since we have a lot working against the health of our bodies in this day in age. But I just found myself getting paranoid and feeling helpless, because there is absolutely no way I can or would even want to make all the changes he recommends.
A few things I do plan on doing: --actually using our water filter --fasting regularly to detoxify --researching "Green Superfood" and seeing if I can stomach it.
Overall I enjoyed this book. I do wish the people in the free thinking/alternative medicine world were all on the same page but they’re not. So I’ll just continue piecing tings together. Great information, but I disagree with the author on a few things. I’m okay with that. I can absolutely take the information provided in this book and do some more research and find what I’m comfortable with.
I loved the wide range of topics covered from dehydration to detoxification to free radicals and more. The author has really done a deep dive even an entire chapter on how our emotions affect our health. He was definitely stepping on some toes with that one! While I appreciated that the author is a Christian, his scripture seemed definitely misapplied in multiple sections.
This book is really nice compared to other health books I have read. It shows exact natural ways of keeping yourself healthy. A really good book to read.
From mercury to free radicals it highlights the dangers we face from what we eat to what we smear on our bodies.Hints on the importance of exercise in attaining a health life style and points out the threat of pesticides, water treatment chemicals and drugs used in poultry farming and animal breeding.
A short but informative book about today's challenges to health. What I like about this book is it summarizes each chapter and advice given at the end of every chapter. I will keep this book for reference.
I learned a lot from this book. It made me more aware of things I could do to improve my health. How much more water both my son and I started drinking because of reading this book
As always, Dr. Don gives a lot of good information on nutrition and how to keep your body healthy. I love his books and plan to eventually read them all.
Before reading this book, I knew we are exposed to many toxins but I was not aware of how much influence these toxins have in our bodies. Dr. Colbert open my eyes to living a healthier and longer life.
