Have you noticed how things come to worse during your life time? This makes one think twice about Golden Age somewhere in far past by extrapolation.

Take a peak inside not so far past, and how fast it was changed, by named forces that changed it. Do you know that free time is not a time beyond a job, and leisure is not what is now named to be? An excellent detailing of work and leisure throughout Western history, it was amazing to discover that "leisure" is much broader in its original definition. Despite being somewhat dated (published in the early 60s), the picture painted of typical American workaday life is not one that has changed much. The significant role that women today have outside of the home is noticeably (and understandably) absent.
