A large-format book which features characters from the Poke+a7mon video game and animated television series contains busy, colorful scenes where fans can search for their favorite "pocket monsters" among the bustle. Original.
Seeing as this book was published right on the brink of the Pokemon cash-grab, it would have been so easy for this book to dissolve into copy-and-paste vector art with little to no imagination. Not so. Each scene, while initially unappealing to the eye (it's very disconcerting to shove a hundred differently colored Pokemon into a relatively small area), has a lot of tiny things going on. Mahop is bowling. Chansey is looking for its eggs. Brock is trying to pick up a date. It's all very creative and, honestly, makes examining the scenes much more entertaining than "finding pokemon".
Had this book as a child and recently acquired another copy. The art is super fun and cute in general, and as an adult Pokémon fan it's also very nostalgic seeing the older designs and art style. It's also really nice that it has all original drawings, nowadays a lot of Pokémon books just use stock art. Definitely a book Pokémon fans of all ages will enjoy.
