Recommends it for: anyone in the webdesign field
Shelves: design, essentials
What else can you say about a design book inspired by an urban planning book on patterns. This is an encyclopedic book using that reads almost like a wiki bringing you from one chapter to another to another and then back again. I constantly refer to it. I have the first edition of this book. It was also recommended by Jason Fried of 37 signals in his article about design patterns.

A handy reference for anyone who would like to create a site from scratch. Really liked the approach the author uses of separating out the various components of a web page and showing their inter-relationships and uses in different types of sites.

This is a comprehensive resource book. The book's layout is a little funky which can be annoying at times.
