Beyond 2012: Catastrophe or Ecstasy - A Complete Guide to End-of-time Predictions

Rate this book
Book Description According to the ancient calendars and mythology of the Maya, the world as we know it ends in 2012. What are these prophecies, and how reliable are they? How many other cultures share the predictions? What should we really expect in the year 2012? The answers to these questions and more can be found in BEYOND 2012, the most comprehensive guide available to the theories behind what many believe could be the most pivotal time in modern history... For over twenty years, Geoff Stray has been investigating the year 2012 as a time of potentially massive significance for humankind and planet Earth. This investigation has revealed that several civilisations across the world have calendars, myths, prophecies and visions connected with 2012. Will it be global catastrophe or spiritual transformation? Discerning and detailed, BEYOND 2012 is a must-read for anyone striving to understand the predicted transition, the importance of our times and what it all means for humanity. With a foreword by John Major Jenkins, BEYOND 2012 includes over 200 illustrations, plus a selection of colour plates, and it is arranged in four Ancient Calendars and Prophecies; 2012 Theories; Beyond The Veil; and Diagnosis. With 22 chapters, a large notes and references section, bibliography, index and three appendices, this is a thorough investigation into the meaning behind the year 2012, which is the time when the 5,125-year 13-baktun cycle of the Maya comes to its conclusion.

Centering around the 2012 date, Beyond 2012 covers a vast variety of topics ranging from; The Mayans, Gnostics, ancient Egyptians, OBEs, crop circles, shamanism and much more. Using countless references, Geoff Stray does a great job of sorting out fact from fiction when dealing with an increasingly large number of conspiracy theories surrounding 2012. I finished this book feeling spiritually inspired and wanting to learn more.

Full of interesting information and theories but not very "readable" unless you are a serious scientist or mathemetician. Flies off on tangents about near death experiences, out of body experiences, crop circles and other topics that, although interesting on their own, have a tenuous link to 2012. Some topics covered seem to be twisted to fit and are not supported by anything other than New Age jibber jabber. Informative and very well researched but other books I have read came across as much better. The author seemed to enjoy pointing out how smart he is and how often he has punched holes in other's theories and told them as such.

In his book 'Beyond 2012' Geoff Stray examines a variety of disaster theories. His methods are meticulous down to the tiniest details. Geoff's information is credible, and professional. I highly recommend this book for those interested in the the Science behind the disaster theories.

I enjoyed this book. Specifically how it covers every single 2012 or end of world prophecy that I have come across. If any of this or historical myth interests you, I highly recommend this book

A very critical discussion about the theory of the 2012 prophecies. It mentions all of them, discusses the validity of each and only then reaches a series of useful conclusions.
