I loved this book from start to finish! It is romantic, Christmassy and has great emotional depth. You could understand where both of the main characters were coming from and could feel their pain. This book is well written with the characters properly developed. It has an engaging story line that kept me completely absorbed. After reading ‘One Perfect Night’ by Rachael Johns and enjoying it so much I was surprised to discover that it is her debut book. I hope she has more books in the pipeline as I am very keen to read more of her work and could see her becoming one of my favourite authors.

Peppa works for Cameron as a voice talent. She reads audio books which I thought was an interesting choice. When she fills in as children's entertainment at the office party, Cameron notices her unaware that she works for him while Peppa thinks he knows who she is. As repayment for denting his Lamborghini he takes her to his family's holiday party while she is still in her elf costume. Cameron wants someone to go with him so he'll appear to be moving on from his wife's death and so his family will stop fussing with him over it. They end up in the sack but Cameron is not ready to move on and tries to stop seeing her once he figures out that she works for him.

Nice story about a widower learning to love again. The heroine is a bit ditsy which I like. Nicely written and the whole thing makes sense.

I received this free from NetGalley for review.

BOB and I enjoyed ONE PERFECT NIGHT by Rachael Johns so much we read it twice.

I was thrilled to interview Rachael on the eve of the release of ONE PERFECT NIGHT. There was no doubt in my mind that it was going to be a winner. It has everything I love about a good book: sass, sizzle and chocolate mocktails. And of course, who wouldn't love a feisty fairy in red fishnet stockings?

This was a delightful short novel by an author I’d never read before. I’ve really enjoyed reading the Australian authors published by Carina Press, and Rachel Johns was no exception. In fact, I was a bit surprised that this book was published by Carina Press, rather than being published in print as a category romance by one of the Harlequin lines (Carina Press is owned by Harlequin). One Perfect Night has several of the hallmark tropes that you see in a category romance: boss-employee romance, hero devastated by wife’s death and refusing to love again, plus a traumatic event that spurs hero to realize his love for the heroine. And while the set-up and resolution of the romance in One Perfect Night sound somewhat clichéd, the unique setting and likeable characters make this a fun, light-hearted romance well worth reading.

Peppa Grant works for Lyrique Recordings, an audiobook company, and when the company’s family Christmas party is about to tank because the Santa has been delayed, Peppa steps in as the entertainer for the kids in a rented fairy costume. She’s a bit stressed, because she just sideswiped the boss’s very expensive sports car but hasn’t had time to tell him about it. Lyrique’s CEO, Cameron McCormac, is already in a bit of a foul mood, because he’s spending time around all the families at the party, forcing him to remember his frustrated plans to start a family four years ago. The widower is also dreading his family’s Christmas party after the work function, but the children’s entertainer in her short faerie skirt is exactly the distraction he needs.

When Peppa tells Cormac that she bumped his car and needs to exchange insurance information, he seizes the opportunity to have her pretend to be his date to his family’s party, not realizing that Peppa’s one of his employees. Her presence at the family party will prevent any pesky questions about his dating life and forestall any attempts to set him up with other women. Of course, Peppa’s a smashing success with his family, which creates more complications down the road, especially since Cormac’s determined to get Peppa in bed but only wants a fling. Peppa wants nothing more than to settle down and start a family. With two such disparate interests, can their affair ever turn into anything more?

The novel is only about 100 pages long, but it packs a lot into such a short book. Both the hero and the heroine have heartbreaking pasts, yet the book doesn’t get bogged down in all the angst, which is a relief. Peppa’s ex is a real stinker, yet she’s still hopeful for the future, even though she feels as though she’s been put through the ringer. She’s very likeable, and while you can see that an affair with Cormac can only lead to heartbreak in her future, you’ll be rooting for everything to work out between them.

Cormac, or “McSexy” as the women in the office call him, also has a painful past, which makes him a brooding, troubled hero – no doubt that adds to his appeal! His wife’s death 4 years ago still haunts him, but it’s a pleasure to see Peppa bringing fun back into his life. He manages to be a bit bone-headed a few times, but everything all works out for the best.

All in all, this was a fun debut novel with a lot of promise. I’m looking forward to reading more of Ms. Johns’ books, especially since the Australian setting plays such a prominent role in the book. I’d love to see her books in print, as I think One Perfect Night would make an excellent category romance.

I received this book for review from the publisher through NetGalley.

Even thought this book was slightly predictable, I LOVED It! I loved Cameron, I loved Peppa, and I just loved One Perfect Night! Rachael Johns definitely hits the nail on the head with this one.

Cameron and Peppa decide to continue a One Night Stand affair, even after he finds out that she actually works for his company. He is tempted by her amazing curves, but also her smile. Peppa had been though a bad break up and Cameron had lost his wife, so here we are with two people who are both cautious to get serious about anything but what happens between the sheets.

Well, its hard not to fall in love when you spend every night with a handsome, funny, amazing guy...That is the predicament Peppa finds herself in...among "Other" things. But will Cameron stick around when faced with the exact thing he has said he wasn't looking for from the beginning? Oh boy...do you have to read this amazing book to find out what happens!!

I had such a fun time reading One Perfect Night. I enjoyed the flirty banter between Peppa and Cameron. I was intrigued from page one and the speed kept up so nicely throughout the entire book, I never got bored!! And with chemistry that sizzled on every page between these two...No wonder I couldn't put it down!! I really, truly LOVED Peppa and Cameron. Two lost, broken souls, who find one another and continue to lie to themselves that they are "Just having fun", when they are really "Falling In Love". Ahhhhh....Loved it!! And Cameron made me proud...love the little fairy costume....ohhh....Ok...Don't want to tear up again!!

Just READ IT!!

This book from the beginning to the end is what I would say a true romance novel worth reading. The two main characters are both dealing with loss, pain and hurt, Cameron is dealing with the loss of his wife and is very scared to open up his heart again. Peppa has been dumped by her ex-fiancé who pretty much runs out and gets married to a co-worker instantly. If that wasn’t enough Peppa is also trying to deal with the loss of a baby finding out she may never be able to have children.

So first we meet Peppa, at her Christmas work party they find out the entertainment for the children has came down with food poisoning, so Pippa runs out and rents a fairy costume so they don’t have to cancel the children’s party. On her way back she swerves to miss a cat and ends up side swiping her new boss’s fancy car. This is where Cameron comes into the picture and while she fesses up to him about the accident he appears not too worried about this, with a sexy smile he offers her a deal; if she attends his family Christmas party that evening as his date he will call it even and she won’t have to pay for the damages. Peppa agrees.

I really enjoyed this book, it was funny, romantic and of course you fell in love with Peppa and only wanted the best for her. It is well written and the characters were great it kept me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. If you love romance novels this is a book for you to read.

This book is neither bad, nor really good... more like a bit above average.
But what it is, is a really cute, very slightly angsty and a little sexy, love story.
I liked it! 💗

And it left an impression the first time I read it, since I chose to read it again.

How I got this book: NetGalley

I was in the mood for a good quick romance, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this debut from Johns’.

Peppa really doesn’t want to tell her boss that she side-swiped his car while dressed as a fairy at the Holiday party, but she knows that she can’t NOT tell him. When Cameron tells her that he wants her to come as his date to another Christmas part, in lieu of having to pay for the damages to his car, Peppa agrees somewhat reluctantly.

Although Cameron isn’t looking for anything serious, there is something about Peppa that calls to him, that has him keep coming back for more. And while Peppa is looking for a family and partner, she is somewhat disheartened by Cameron’s inability to figure out what exactly he wants from her. But when Peppa has a seriously health issue, will Cameron realize just how much he wants everything she can offer?

I really enjoyed this book, and even though there are some typical romance plots, it didn’t feel like a re-used theme. And while this story is only about 100 pages or so, it felt like there was so much more to the story than what is typically in a 100 page novella. There was so much emotional drama in this story, and it pulled me in and kept me engaged from the first page.

I was so impressed with how well Johns’ portrayed the hero and heroine. I honestly fell for both Cameron and Peppa right away. There was so much more to each character than we initially see. I loved that as Peppa helped Cameron peel back the layers, more and more about his character is revealed, and my heart kept going out to him. I’m a big fan of having our heroes be a little tortured, and when it’s over the heartache of loosing his first true love, that made him all the more loveable in my eyes.

Like Cameron, Peppa had been through something horrific as well. When she realizes that despite everything her dream is coming true, she doesn’t waste anytime with lies or doubts. Instead, she goes for it all and lives everything to the fullest. There wasn’t one minute when I wasn’t rooting for her one hundred percent.

I thought that the romance was great as well. What started as a practical joke that Cameron was playing on his family turned into a hot and steamy night together. From there the sexual tension gave way to a fun and flirty friendship. And while Peppa was falling in love, Cameron was doing everything he could not to, and failing horribly at it. Once these two finally declared their love, it was a beautiful moment.

All in all I really enjoyed the debut novel from Rachel Johns. The characters were extremely well developed, the romance was a wonderful journey and the story was sweet and sexy all at once. I will be looking forward to more from this author in the future.
I give One Perfect Night a B+

One Perfect Night by Rachel Johns is an office romance. In real life, fishing off the company pier is generally considered a bad idea. In this story, it not only turns out to be good advice for the participants, but it is great fun to read.

Peppa Grant usually works as voice talent at Lyrique Recordings. But for the company's Christmas party, she had agreed to entertain the staff's children, dressed in a fairy costume, after the regular entertainment called in sick.

This was not her lucky day. On her way into the party, she had side-swiped the Head Honcho's vintage Lamborghini, and there was no way her insurance was going to cover the damage. And she was going to have to 'fess up to her "crime" dressed up as an "elf" to a man the female employees nicknamed "McSexy". And Peppa was in no way immune to his charms.

Cameron McCormac didn't need any financial assistance to help repair the damage to his Lamborghini. Money was not a problem. What he really needed was a date to his family's Christmas party that evening to stave off his relatives well-meaning but futile attempts to fix him up with someone. He hadn't been interested in anyone since his wife died three years ago, but he was definitely interested in the fairy girl in her too-short tutu and red fishnet stockings. Very, very interested. Cameron offered Peppa a deal, accompany him to his family's annual Christmas, and he'd forget about the car. Peppa couldn't even afford to replace the hubcaps on a Lamborghini. She took the deal.

Nothing that evening was what either of them expected. Especially when the evening ended in Peppa's bed. But after one perfect night together, what happens when both of them want more, even though neither of them expect that it can possibly work out?

Escape Rating B: This story turned out to have much more to it than I expected, especially for a 100 page story. Peppa and Cameron are both characters who have been hurt badly, and both have come to expect absolutely nothing from relationships, even to expect not to have relationships. They know they should not get involved. And yet they do. Everything is tentative and scary for both of them, and the author does a very good job of portraying the "two steps forward, one step back" nature of this type of relationship. Well done.

The hero Cameron first sees the heroine Peppa when she is the children's entertainer during the office Christmas party. When he approaches her he has not idea she is actually one of his employees, but he is very intrigued by her. Although he is not pleased when she admits to accidentally causing damage to his car, but spotting his moment to get to know her further he asks her to go with him to his family's party. Peppa is very, very attracted to Cameron, but is still getting over a difficult break-up and reluctant to get involved. However, neither of them can deny the desire simmering between them and they end up spending the night together, which quickly turns into an agreed short term affair. As Peppa and Cameron grow closer, Peppa becomes more and more frustrated by Cameron's refusal to open up emotionally to her. And Cameron feels the ever growing involvement with Peppa is a betrayal to his late wife. Everything comes crashing down eventually, with devastating results.

I thought this book was brilliant, and I enjoyed every word of it. This book is so much more than the title and blurb leads you to believe; it is deep, wrought with emotion and passion, as well as being touching, funny and flirty. The plot itself is a well used one, but Rachael Johns has managed to 'modern-it-up', with some individual touches and a writing style that makes me smile. Both the hero and heroine are well matched and there is plenty of pizazz to their individual personalities. Peppa is particularly appealing as she has plenty of sass (and I am so glad she stood up to the hero and kicked him out during a certain scene! I like my heroines to have a backbone!).
The issues raised, such as night terrors, bereavement, infertility, are handled well but don't overcrowd the actual story. This gives the book depth and a nice balance with the focus still on the romance.

This is a fun book to read, yet also very emotional. I think the word 'lovely' suits this book perfectly! I can't wait to read future stuff from Rachael.

Recommended.

Peppa is a bubbly likeable character who is in a bit of a pickle. She has managed to side-swipe her boss’s vintage Lamborghini as she arrives at work to do a favour, by dressing up as a fairy for the firm’s annual party for children. She knows she has to confess and when she does, her boss lets her off of having to pay for the damage, as long as she accompanies him to his family’s Christmas get together as his ‘girlfriend’. The chemistry is there from the beginning and Peppa has pretty much fallen for Cameron before they even get to the party. Once there, Peppa is well and truly welcomed in by Cameron’s family – still dressed in her fairy outfit - and throughout the evening the sparks continue to fly.

After spending the night together they embark on a passionate love affair and I found myself rooting for them and keen that everything should work out between them. However they both have had a lot of pain in their lives due to previous relationships and Peppa has health issues that have left her heartbroken. I was surprised at how quickly I connected with Peppa and Cameron and I liked them very much. Their characters had depth and they were both struggling to come to terms with previous events in their lives and the issues that were preventing them from moving forward and being able to have proper relationships again. Cameron is smouldering, sexy and Peppa is fun and determined.

Considering that this is only 100 pages long, there was a lot packed in and honestly, I could have carried on reading about Peppa and Cameron. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship move from an initial lust driven night of passion into a relationship that works through the pain they’ve suffered and into a place of trust and love. I’d certainly be interested to read anything else by Rachael Johns in the future.

Verdict: A lot of book for its size! A great read with really likeable characters.

This is another one of those books that's been sitting on my iPad just waiting to be read.

Who would have thought that swerving to miss a roaming cat would cause a grand love story? But in the case of Peppa (Penelope) and Cameron McCormac it did just that.

Peppa was nursing a broken heart, after her fiance leaves her for another woman who was pregnant with his child. The last thing she needed was to get involved the the ultra sexy CEO, nicknamed Mr. McSexy. But after confessing that she sideswiped his car to miss a cat, he proposes a deal with her: come with him to his family's Christmas Eve party and he'll fix his car on his own.

The minute Cameron saw the woman dressed in the fairy costume at the office Christmas party, he knew he wanted one night with her. He used his aunt's party as a way to get what he wanted. He doesn't do long term relationships, but figured a woman dressed like that wouldn't either. But spending five minutes alone with Peppa soon showed him how wrong he was...about everything.

Peppa and Cameron were an interesting couple. Both swore they didn't want more from than a fling with the other, but right from the very beginning you could tell there was so much more to their relationship. But no relationship can get off to a good start if one or both of the individuals aren't completely honest with each other and/or themselves about what's going on. That is where Peppa and Cameron fell into their issues. Both played off their relationship as casual, when it was far from it. Cameron also kept secrets about his past, which directly affected Peppa. It took Peppa walking away and Cameron realizing he was going to lose something irreplaceable to finally come clean.

This was a fun afternoon read, even if the storyline was predictabl

My Review:
When I first started this book, I thought it was going to be a light, fun read about a one-night stand, but this book is so much more than that. Penelope and Cameron are so much more than two people that have gotten caught up in a bit of passion. They have each been left seriously wounded by past relationships. And while Penelope is still open to the possibilities, she is definitely trying to guard her heart. Cameron, on the other hand, has no plans to ever open his heart again. But when they are faced with their undeniable chemistry, they cannot control when their emotions become irrevocably involved too.

All of the twists and turns in this book were not anything new. They have all been written before which is why I gave this book a slightly lower rating, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and was highly entertained by it. I even shed a tear or two during the climax of the story line...and that always means good things in my book when I am reading a book. I became attached to these two characters and was cheering for them all the way to their HEA, even when I was cursing bad decisions based upon their scars (especially for Cameron.) The level of his pain and scars from his wife's death is heart-wrenching especially when considered after his tragic childhood. As you read this book, your heart is literally breaking for him and his pain.

Rachael Johns has created a wonderful little world here that starts at the holiday Christmas party (which means that this is a wonderful holiday read) and takes you all the way to the HEA that these two characters truly deserve. It's a fun book. It's an emotional book. It's an entertaining book. I liked it...a LOT!

When the entertainment for her work's children's Christmas Eve party cancels, Peppa quickly runs out and rents a fairy costume. On her way back she accidentally side swipes the CEO's car in the parking lot. When she approaches Cameron to fess up to what happened, he doesn't seem at all worried about the car. Instead he is more interested in taking her to his Aunt's Christmas Eve party.

Cameron dislikes holidays and being around the family. They make him uncomfortable and remind him of the things that he lost. When he was still a kid he lost his parents in a plane crash and only a few years ago lost his wife as well. When Cameron sees the sexy hired entertainment he comes up with a plan to get his persistent matchmaking family off his back. He makes a deal with her, if she goes to his Aunt's Christmas party with him, he will forget about the dent she put in his vehicle.

This is a story about two people who were hurt by love. Penelope's ex-fiance dumps her and remarries almost instantly when she miscarries their child and finds out that she might never conceive again. Cameron is still scared of opening up and loving someone just to lose them. Even though there was nothing really different with this story, it was still a pleasure to read.

Favorite part...
When Peppa calls in sick, Cameron takes the rest of the day off from work and rushes to her house with his version of a sick kit. He bought a bunch of different medicines, ginger-ale and a stack of chick flick romance movies to watch with her.

ONE PERFECT NIGHT by Rachael Johns is a Carina Press release for December 2011.

Peppa Grant had not healed after a messy break-up and was not looking for a relationship. After swiping into her boss’s car, she was just looking at owning up and apologizing for it.

Cameron McCormac found he couldn’t take his eyes off the children’s entertainer at his company’s family Christmas party. Then he walked over to introduce himself, little knowing that Peppa was employed by his company. But Peppa wanted to confess about ‘brushing up’ against his car in the car park. When Cameron found out her insurance company had gone bust he had a ‘proposition’ for her!
And it was to attend the Christmas eve party at his aunt’s the same afternoon. His family was always matchmaking and he wanted to take Peppa as she was, dressed in a fairy outfit, to meet his family. But the attraction sizzled between them and they ended up in bed later that night. After the perfect night together, can Peppa expect more from Cameron?

Cameron had had dreams of family and forever after with his wife but she was no more now and he didn’t want long term either. So they decided on a fling. But will this fling-only work?
And then Peppa found she was pregnant, but will this miracle work to bring Cameron and Peppa together?

Rachael Johns touches the heart with this poignant tale of fresh starts, past wounds and second chances.

I very much enjoyed this enthralling romance between Peppa and Cameron and the love scenes were sizzling!

I love Australians authors! They just do not disappoint *knocks on wood* and One Perfect Night proved that. From the beginning, I couldn't put the book down. Peppa was such an entertaining voice and so was Cameron. They were extremely 3D characters and I laughed with them and felt sad when they did, I was rooting for them to just kiss, kiss, kiss! Together they were just unbelievably funny and heartbreaking at the same time. They both had demons they needed to get past and seeing them realize their feelings for each other was definitely an enjoyable journey.

Rachel Johns has a lovely writing style and as always, I absolutely loved the Australian setting, it was like traveling and falling in love all due to a fantastic book. I wasn't bored once with the story because I couldn't get enough of this romance, it really touched me you Peppa and Cameron helped each other in so many ways that they would have never imagined and I think Johns handled the hard situation in an extremely well way.

Overall, this book had it all. A great heroine, a sexy bear of a hero and a love story that will make you smile like an idiot! I definitely look forward to read more of Rachel Johns books.

Rating: 4 hears~ a book that will satisfy a romance lover's thirst!

-thank you&come again.

Peppa Grant 's stepped in at the company party and manages to catch Mr. McSexy's eye and side swipe his car. Cameron McCormac can't help but notice the sexy fairy and knows he wants her instantly. Not only does she fire up his libido, but she'll be perfect for getting his family off his back for being single.

Never having had such an attraction to someone, Peppa decides a one night stand should be enough to get it out of her system, and then to go back to looking for long lasting love and a relationship. Cameron thinks it'll be enough as well. But when it isn't, where do they go from there?

Holy smokes did this book surprise me. As a debut book, this book was amazing. It wasn't very long but packed a significant emotional punch. Both Peppa and Cameron are hurting and scarred from past relationships. Peppa is looking for love, while Cameron just wants something to numb his pain and provide release.

I loved how even though the story was hit and heavy in the beginning, the intensity didn't let up at all, even though there wasn't a lot of sex through out the rest of the book. Not once did I feel as if the book slowed down or lost my attention. There were times when I had tears in my eyes as I read, making this book a definite win for me.

I loved this book. And I have no doubt I'll love the other books written by this author I read in the future. I don't think you will either.

One Perfect Night was a cute and really, really fast paced read. It's one of those stories that you read and you don't even realise when you reach the end. Yeah, it was that fast and combined with a sweet romantic plot, it's the perfect title to spend a quiet evening at your home while sipping some hot chocolate :)

I have to admit that as far as memorable characters or plot goes, One Perfect Night isn't original but that doesn't mean that it's not an enjoyable read. I liked the whole setting, the pace of the romance was good but unfortunately I can't say that I will remember it for long now that I have finished reading it. It was like watching a romantic comedy, only in paper, and that is always a good thing for me.

The characters were enough developed given that it was a rather small and quick read and I liked hoe Rachael Johns dealt with the emotional carriage of her two heroes and how she brought them together. There were some typical romance plots, but used in a way that didn't bother me and worked in advantage to the whole setting. Also, the fact that it's written in both Peppa's and Cameron's POV helped the reader learn more about both heroes and explore and understand their emotions and motives better.

All in all, One Perfect Night is the right book for you if you search for a light, fun and quick romance title.

This is what the book is about.
Peppa Grant's fellow employees may call their new CEO Mr. McSexy, but she's also heard that he's aloof and distant. Cameron McCormac certainly seems cold toward Christmas when she meets him at the company's annual party...but he's also the sexiest man Peppa has ever seen. And when he offers to forgive the damage she accidentally caused to his expensive car in exchange for accompanying him to his family's holiday get-together, she agrees.

Cameron needs a date to the family party to get his matchmaking relatives off his back. Their chemistry is instant and undeniable, leading to an incredible one-night stand. But Peppa wants love and family, while Cameron's only interested in temporary pleasure. When their relationship takes an unexpectedly serious turn, will he run the other way—or will he give love a second chance?

This is what I thought about it.
This is a really beautiful tale of finding love and life after tragedy.
It really was a pleasure to read and it made me smile and almost made me cry. The plot was simple and that I think is what made it so good, it was all about the emotions of Peppa and Cameron and the effect they had on each other. All in all an damn fine read.

Summary:

The story is kind of romantic and sweet. And yet both main characters were dealing with pain and loss. Both were struggling with their own emotion and hurt. Both enjoy each other accompaniment so much that, they did not realize they have actually fall in love with each other unintentionally. And the incredible night together just made them crave for more, until things started getting out of control.

I like the story. It's very well written; especially this is the author's debut. Characters are well developed too. It's an easy read. I enjoy reading it very much. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

Note: I receive the digital ARC of this book from the publisher via Net Gallery. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Penelope 'Peppa' Grant certainly does not expect that the little accident she had before the company Christmas party will turn upside down her life. She's slowly and painfully recovering from the breakup with her ex boyfriend and her plans didn't include any man for a long time.

Cameron McCormac has no desire to attend the Christmas party of his company, nor even the one thrown by his aunt. Holidays are not his favorite time of the year... The encounter with a sexy fairy, however, will make him change his mind ... but is he really ready to start again?

One Perfect Night is a sexy and captivating story. Cameron is a perfect example of the male gender: charming, intriguing, and with just the perfect touch of cockiness! Peppa, however, is adorable. You will immediately want to protect her and become her friend.

The plot follows a bit the classic scheme of a romance book, but the style and the characters created by Rachael Johns are so great that they compensate for this little flaw, making the story exciting.

In the end, I recommend this book to those who love romance and who believe that everyone deserves a second chance to be happy.

i really enjoyed reading this book. A romance book with a great ending that will make the reader teared up. Just like i am when i read it. The story started with Peppa who in exchange to compensate her boss' for her wrong doing, agreed to play as his companion to attend his family function. Cameron, who is desperately trying to avoid another scheme of matchmaking from his family is going all out to find someone doubling as his girlfriend. Attractions between them sparks and both of them seems not be able to get enough of each other and Cameron find himself finding ways and means just to be with Peppa. However, things changed when Peppa reveal that she is pregnant with their child. Cameron rejected her and it was heartbreaking to see the way Peppa handling the situation on her own.

I was crying when i read about Cameron trying to make up for the mistakes that he make and when Peppa was in so much pain due to appendicitis, i was so afraid that she lost her baby.. i cried when both Cameron and Peppa reconcile their differences.

One Perfect Night was a really sweet and fast paced story. I read it in one sitting and loved every minute of it. I love getting lost inside a good contemporary romance, and I did just that with this book. It’s super funny and emotional at times. I truly enjoyed getting to know Cameron and Peppa and watch their love blossom. The way they meet was hilarious and the whole encounter had me laughing out loud.

Both Cameron and Peppa, have had a bad experience with their previous relationship. So when they start messing around, they both agree to keep things casual and fun. No strings attached. But things begin to get really hot and heavy for the two and to top it all off, something happens that changes both their lives forever.

One Perfect Night is definitely a great book if you’re looking for a fast read with lots of humor and romance mixed inside. I enjoyed it and would definitely like to read more books by Rachel Johns. I am a huge romance junkie and this was a nice fix. A Good Choice for Reading!

4 out of 5 Stars!

Read my full review at Book Thingo.

Despite the far-fetched premise, One Perfect Night starts off at a good pace, with, I was relieved to discover, an unobtrusive Aussie voice. Unfortunately, the plot plateaus halfway through the book. The employee/boss relationship between the main characters is touched on but doesn’t provide enough tension, so the conflicts between the characters are largely external. While it’s great to see a hero who’s had a healthy relationship and, more importantly, acts like he knows how to be in one, Cameron’s internal struggle to let go of his dead wife doesn’t always inspire sympathy. By the same token, the too-happy resolution to Peppa’s conflict, while not unexpected, certainly doesn’t feel realistic. Nevertheless, there’s enough in the story for a quick, enjoyable read.

Who might enjoy it: Drivers of bomby cars they can’t bear to part with
Who might not enjoy it: Readers who want realistic portrayals of infertility

4 Stars/Fiction; Romance

When sexy new CEO, Cameron McCormac shows up at his companys Christmas party, the last thing he expects is to hear an apology from a costume clad Peppa Grant for damaging his fancy car on her way in. Intrigued by her, Cameron offers his forgiveness if she agrees to go with him to a family gathering where all his matchmaking relatives appear to be working overtime. Of course, Peppa cannot resist and it doesn't take long before the sparks begin to fly. Their mutual attraction leads to an incredible one night stand but when they discover they both want different things in life, they realize that one perfect night might be all they get.

This is a sweet, satisfying story full of emotion and sexy romance. I was very impressed with all the touching details that Johns was able to convey in this short length novella. I definitely want to read more by this author.

A story with varying levels of intensity yet the emotional pull is significant. Two people who have rather jaded views of life and loving, one has been hurt and discarded by a co-worker who was, for a time, a fiance, and a CEO who plays the field because of significant loss and pain from the past. The impasse between these two people is somewhat protracted and a long-term relationship doesn't appear to be either possible of desirable. Yet there is the kind of tension that makes a reader wonder what is really going on in the hidden recesses of the hearts of these two characters. It's a fun Christmas story--a family Christmas bash is how these two connected--but there is angst and stress in this story, possibly a sense of pain and loss that gives contrast and a sense of reality. I enjoyed it very much.

I was given a review copy of this book by NetGalley. I enjoyed this story about Peppa and Cameron. At the start of the book Peppa is helping out as a children's entertainer at the office Christmas party dressed as a fairy. Cameron is CEO of the company and drops in on the party. Feeling an instant attraction to Peppa, when she confesses that she has accidently dented his car he uses the opportunity to ask her to pose as his girlfriend at a family party to try and stop his relatives matchmaking. His family love her and they have a great night together. However, he does not realise she is his employee and he is not looking for anything serious, so it looks like all they will have is the one perfect night. But can they deny their feelings for each other and both overcome their relationship issues? This is a fun, light-hearted story with some very likeable characters.

OMG!! THAT was a super sexy read. One of my favorite plots beside friends to lovers is the "I need a girlfriend/wife for (insert reason)" They just really work for me. I just love to see all the funny, crazy things that happen along the way to them discovering they can't live without the other :)

And this one worked for me....and then some :) Everything for me was great. I loved the characters, the plot and the sex....yeah :) Now I just need to get more from this author and I think I will be set :)
