I thought it was illegal to fail this hard without a permit.

I mean, if it were possible for a book to despise humanity and turn against people in general, this would be its first step down the path to villainy.

This book is how they torture state secrets out of spies.

Reading this was like using a pineapple for a prostate exam.

In all honesty, it's not like there was a shortage of female protagonists who could charitably be described as useless, pathetic twats. I think Janie almost takes the ca

When I first glimpsed at this cover I was sure it was an adult UF book. It's not. However, it would appeal to the older YA readers. You will find intelligent characters, engaging storylines and strong world building in Taryn's Dark Seeker.

In the world that Taryn has built, we have Vampires, and these are not sparkly, dancing vampires either. They're mean and they WILL bite you! We also have Daychildren which are demons turned to vampires (I know, right? Like, totally awesome!). As for Seekers, t

This is my first 1 star review. I pride myself on always finding the good in a book but with Dark Seeker it was almost impossible. Just be forewarned this review is going to be riddled with spoilers because I’m sitting here dumbfounded that I even made it through this book.

To start off I did not like the main character at all. Janie is supposedly the seeker and she is meant to kill Daychildren and vampires. Ok we were off to a good start but within the first 10 pages she meets Kai, a daychild,

A fast-paced plot with edge-of-your seat action wasn't enough to save Dark Seeker from a lack of world-building, a weak heroine and a borderline abusive romance.

My first problem with Dark Seeker is the lack of world-building. Why are Seekers allowed to hunt the undead from such a young age (fourteen, according to Janie)? Janie mentions that she has already experienced ages 14-17 once, and is now on her second time going through those same ages. Why does this happen? How does this happen? Do Seek

Dark Seeker was kindly provided to me by the author Taryn Browning in exchange for my honest review and is the first book in the Seeker series.

Janie Grey is a 17 year-old Seeker, a job which entails her ridding the streets of the undead of Baltimore - a duty which has been passed down from her Cherokee ancestors and one she takes quite seriously. When she has a run-in with who she assumes is one of the undead - a daychild, she is hesitant

The Review: Janie Grey is a typical 17 year old high school student . . .Well that is when she’s not out kicking vampire ass!! For Janie is a Seeker, a Demon/vampire slayer whose skills are passed down the family line with links to the Cherokee, she has been trained for this, it is her life and she accepts it. Until one night when going about her duties she finds herself in a spot of bother and a mysterious boy steps in to help her out. The boy, Kai i

4.5- 5 stars!

You may guess what the "Children of the Night" are but I'm sure you don't have a clue of what "Day Children" are...

Well, you'll have to read the book to find out. Taryn Browning has created a whole new kind of breed. (or half-breed) that is as intriguing as evil.

I loved this story (hence the 5 stars :P)

We have a heroine that is stubborn and unnerving, and at the same time, she is witty and real. Yes, she is a "Seeker" and has special abilities, or enhanced senses, if you want to p

DARK SEEKER by Taryn Browning is a fun, fast-paced read with a whole new breed of vampires and one of the hottest guys to hit YA fiction.

I absolutely love the world Taryn Browning created. Seekers hunt vampires, but this isn't the sort of mythology you're used to. Browning added a whole new spin onto it, but I don't want to give anything away. Let's just say that her new breed of vampires will take the species to a new level. I also loved the way she incorporated Native American lore into the s

I sat down to start this book and finished it in one sitting! This is the first in the new Dark Seeker series and it did not disappoint!

This story follows the life of Janie, a high school student and a Seeker. A Seeker, someone who is raised and trained to rid the streets of the undead. She spends her days being an ordinary teenager, going to school and her nights fighting and killing the undead. I liked how kick-ass Janie was, she knew what

Taryn Browning has written a excellent debut novel for her Seeker Series. I found Dark Seeker (Book #1) was a tantalizing read, that was very hard to put down at any stage though-out the whole book. I loved that Taryn Browning has written Janie as a strong female heroine that takes no crap from the living or the undead and knows how to kick some ones ass, when ever she needs too.

In a way Janie reminds me of a mixture of Buffy The Vampire Slayer from the Tv Show and Rose Hathaway from Richelle M

If you want to take vampires and make them different, let them walk around in the daytime amongst the humans. These are the Daychildren. So, you may have Daychildren in your town or in your class but you have no idea that they are really vampires. No sparkles here! As a Seeker, Janie is on the hunt for these Daychildren. I look at her as a crime scene investigator more than a vampire Seeker. She’s always looking for clues and plotting her next move.

Do not panic and run away screaming when I say

So...where do I begin...mmmm

What I loved about this book:

Janie - This girl is tough! I really appreciated the fact that she wasn't one to gripe about the things she had to do, no, she actually goes out, looks around - spots a bad guy and then goes and kicks it’s ass. I love that part! There are too many heroines who don't want to face what they need to, who whine and moan when they do and are in general to weak to deal with anything that comes there way.

Kai - oh...Kai, Kai, Kai - I love everyth

Dark Seeker is a book about Janie Grey, who has a duty of killing the undead. The reason why she also very much despises them, is that one of the undead's actions resulted in her own father's death. Janie is a very powerful character. I really enjoy reading about her because she is so strong, and doesn't trust anyone, and is very brave.

When Janie meets Kai, things start to shake up. Kai is a very interesting character with the typical bad boy aura. When Janie meets him, she is confused about wha

It was a good read, worthy of a Sunday afternoon, however, the romance was way too cheesy for my taste. And not to mention the insults thrown before a fight between the vampires and Daychildren (which are pretty much vampire-demon hybrids)

Kai was adorable, and I can see why readers would like Janie, but she was too stubborn and bull-headed. I didn't really see a development in her character.

Overall, Dark Seeker was entertaining and surprisingly fast paced. It just needed.. more

This book was AH-MAZE-ING!!!! Ugh, I couldn't stop reading it! Taryn created such a well put together book and vividly created each scene that you knew exactly where they were at the time, what it looked like, the smell, temperature, etc. I loved how it switched to Kai's point of view every now and then, giving his input and the deep down feelings he

Dark Seeker is superb! A great book to start off a great series. Taryn Browning did a wonderful job of putting a whole new twist in the way we see vampires. Browning created a world that would surely lure you in. This is another one of those rarely-found un-put-down-able books; you’ll just love it!

Firstly, thankyou Taryn Browning for providing me with a copy for review! This has not affected my review in any way

Janie is a Seeker, she has been trained to rid the streets of the undead and of super creepy vampire-demon halfbreeds called Daychildren. One night out Seeking, she is completely unprepared for what she would have to fight, until Kai comes along, saves her and finishes them off.

I’m so glad Dark Seeker lived up to the hype! I remember seeing an average of 5 stars on goodreads a while back, and thought ‘Wow, seriously? No 4 stars? 3 even? All 5? Could it be THAT good?”. Dark Seeker by Taryn Browning is an exciting, suspenseful and utterly addicting story. Folks, I simply could not put this one down.

I was just discussing with my friend how much I adore strong females. And Janie is practically the poster girl for the term. She’s determined, intelligent, feisty and all-around fierce. Janie doesn’t take crap from anyone and she doesn’t let people push her around; she makes up her own mind and follows her own heart.

Browning had me completely on edge in regards to Ka

In One Word ~ Imaginative

In Dark Seeker, and the short story prequel Dark Beauty, author Taryn Browning has create a world truly her own. This landscape is full of Seekers, those who are trained to go after the undead; vampires, not the nice kind, the really evil vampires; and a strange demon-vampire hybrid called Daychild, unlike any vampire I've read before.

In Dark Seeker, the action comes swift and savagely. Janie, a Seeker whose mission is to keep her city safe fro

I really enjoyed reading “Dark Seeker.” The best paranormals for me are those in which the author takes care in “world-building,” setting up the structure of the Paranormal or Supernatural species, their tastes, talents, relation to humanity, and so forth. Author Taryn Browning does an excellent job of this. Her Supernatural hierarchy is detailed and understandable, and very intriguing. Her protagonist-heroine, Janie Grey, is a seventeen-year-old high school student, descendant of Cherokees, ins ...more

In this teen paranormal romance, Janie is a Seeker, trained to hunt out and kill the monsters who prey on humans. Her mother was a Seeker before her, and this is Janie's second time through high school.

This is all about to get complicated when a new breed of monsters, a combination of vampires and demons, starts getting numerous enough to cause problems. Janie is thinking about how to exterminate these Daychildren when she runs into one who saves her life.
