Here are the 13 Chapters or Resolutions taken from the book RESOLVED.

Orrin provides a list of 13 Resolutions, of which, the first 4 falls in the bracket of Private Achievements, the following four (from 5-8) falls in the bracket of Public Achievements, and the rest (from 9-13) falls in the bracket of Leadership Achievements.

1. Resolved: I resolve to discover my God-given purpose. I know that when my potential, passions, and profits intersect, my purpose is revealed.

Leadership gurus are interesting to me. At times it seems they recycle each other's material. I resented that at first as I read this book. I kept finding myself saying, "I read that book." Or, "I have heard of that idea from such and such guy." But this book has left such a lasting impression on me. I have applied ideas from this book and I have seen results. I recognized negative voices and turned them into positive ones. I know you have all heard that before, but it was very eloquently taught ...more

this is not a casual read.. it is a life manual to live by.. for those interested in resolving to live a better life. My favorite chapter is on friendship. I do not ever see anything written elsewhere on how to have a fulfilling friendship on many levels. We are increasingly pulling away from friendships and replacing them with facebook, google other social networking and losing the face to face friendships we, as humans crave.. Orrin woodward put it so precisely... in this chapter alone one of ...more

I really think this is an amazing book. All of these resolutions everyone has the ability to work on and develop and should. This is my 3rd time going through it and I can see myself continuing to read this book over and over and working in these 13 areas of my life and maybe creating some others I can develop.

This is still one of the best re-reads. Using all these resolutions in your life and studying them on a constant basis will greatly improve your endeavors.

Next to the Bible, this is the most inspiring and comprehensive book I have ever read! Orrin Woodward is all about building up leaders in communities here in North America based on the principles and resolutions of some of the greatest Americans in our nation's infancy. And this is the most effective process I have seen yet - starting with private achievements: a hardcore, in-depth focus on four aspects of our lives that serves as our foundation. Next come the public achievements where people th ...more

Most of us want the end result of being a man or woman of character living a successful life and basically living the life we've always wanted without the effort it takes to change to get to that level. This book walks you through those steps to get you to a level of leadership and success in your life that you never thought would be achievable. In fact, there are 13 steps/resolutions based on the some of the same resolutions that George Washington, Ben Franklin, and Jonathan Edwards resolved in ...more

Excellent book on wisdom, relationships, thinking, growth, leadership, and so much more. Take time to go through this. It is a true difference maker and should be a classic.

Orrin Woodward was ranked by Inc Magazine as the number 20 all time Top Leadership and Management expert in the world (the list even considered and included some deceased leaders). He was also the only leader on that list (of 100) who had mentored another person to become a top leader himself (Chris Brady). It is surprising that no no other "leader" developed other leaders.

Orrin's book, "Resolved," considers how the daily reviewed resolutions made by George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Jona

Until a couple of weeks ago if anyone asked me what would be my most recommended book in personal development I would have said Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, a absolute masterpiece of research on the patterns of mega-achievers as requested by Dale Carnegie.
Well, Resolved by Orrin Woodward just took its first place on my list :)
This is worth 6 stars. It is the most complete and perfect book on personal development, period. Covering pretty much everything, delivering perfect advice with p

"Resolved" is an amazing book for anyone who is seeking to improve him/her self. This book by award-winning Orrin Woodward talks about America's founding fathers like George Washington and Benjamin Franklin. They tell us how to improve ourselves. All we have to do is put effort into it. In fact, the appendix has lists of virtues, values, and ways to live directly from influential and successful people. One of those Ben Franklin's Thirteen Virtues. They're simple, easy to follow, and they make lo ...more

Excellent resolutions, but poor writing style. Several chapters were very interesting while most of them could have been cut down to just a few paragraphs and been more engaging and to the point. Seemed like the author was stretching out some parts and being repetitive just to make a longer book out of it. But I did appreciate his strong Christian worldview and as I stated above, the actual Resolutions are perfect. Spot on, convicting, thought provoking, and encouraging.

I loved this book, definitely one of the best books I have ever read! ! It's VERY informative, thought provoking, and life changing!! I wish I could pass one out to everyone I know. It's SOOOOO worth owning your own!

Throughout history all kinds of books have been written, people used to read to gain knowledge. What genius, artist or inventor have you ever heard about who did not first dream, then study (including books), and finally accomplish their objective? And how many people have sacrificed

Typically, I do not take notes while I read. Every now and then, I find a book which interests me on a certain level where I may underline a passage or dog-ear a page for future reference. Orrin Woodward's "Resolved" is an exception. I took my time reading this book. I did not read through it quickly, in fact it took me several weeks to finish. I had to put it down, sometimes in mid-chapter, so I could think about his words and take notes in the margins and/or the blank pages in the back of the ...more

Have to say out of all the books I have start to read due to the life business this by far taught me the most. I always go in to a meeting and promote both Orrin and Chris. I happen to feel up to the challenge and read both Resolved and Rascal at the sametime and am so glad I did because when you combine the two they make on intense read. They complement each other so well that I swore up and down I wasreading one whenin fact I was on the other. Those two books are the best leadership textbooks ...more

Second Read: This book is even better the second time around. I read it this time as part of the Mental Fitness Challenge (, and at a chapter per week, it really gave me the opportunity to look at each resolution in more depth. As I said before, applied this book can change your life!

I really, REALLY liked this book! So much food for thought and so many great examples stuffed within its pages. I took a ton of notes and felt like I was just scratching the surface!

Docked a point due to its organization - its structure felt inconsistent at times. As just one example - some chapters gave a summary of its key points (such as the Friendship chapter - which I loved by the way) and that was really helpful. Other chapters also had key points, but they weren't summarized and so extrac

When I first picked up this book, I never realized what it meant to make a resolution. I had spent many New Years making resolutions only to break them sometime Mid-January and then not thinking anything of it until the next year.

Great historical leaders like George Washington and Ben Franklin made resolutions to improve themselves and continually worked on them. If we want to improve our lives, shouldn't we follow the example of those who exemplified what honor and leadership meant?

I loved this book and have read it twice now. I don't think that one can ever read this book enough. If you are looking to live a better life, I highly recommend this book to get you started down the right track of self development. There are so many great principles in this book that taught me how to live a better life. If we want a change in our life, we need to change something in our life. We can't fix our current problems with the same thinking that got us there. This book helps out with th ...more

This book started out really strong for me through about the first eight resolutions I was thinking it could be up there with one of the best books I've ever read. Very well written. Resolutions 9-13 certainly slowed things down for me, maybe weren't as interesting as the first part of the book, took me a LONG time to get through, but I made it. I'd say it's a worthy read for sure, very good book, 4 stars, some great insights and a lot of historical knowledge assembled and used by the author her ...more

Inspirational. If you are up-shifting to doing bigger things in life, this book is a must read. After reading about the resolutions of Jonathan Edwards, Benjamin Franklin and George Washington, I started noticing that many other great historical figures had similar creeds or resolutions. This book is the author's 13 resolutions, similar to Franklin, Edwards and Washington and rooted in the needs of our current society.

A must read.

I have read through this incredible book twice so far and I am reading it again. Each time I read a chapter there is something more I learn that I didn't previously. Orrin has done a fantastic job of compiling the major principles of the resolutions of Washington, Franklin, and Edwards, giving methods of practical application of each of the Resolutions, and providing real life examples of men and women who have achieved success by applying these timeless principles to their own lives.

I have read this exceptional book twice and have only scratched the surface of wisdom it offers. This book should be a yearly read in everyones library. The information when used will change not only your life but those who also know you too. The great feature of this book is you can read the individual chapter which you need more help in your current situation and it will guide you with encouragement to see it through.

The call to improve yourself through the important principles of life. Orrin's study of Benjamin Franklin and other historical American legends has given us readers a blueprint of the achievable better future! I love his work, but reader beware: it is a very dense and heavy read. Great needed information, but don't be surprised if you need to take it in small bites. This is the greatest way to find the best you!

Great book, absolute must read with poignant resolutions to stir the soul and mind. I've not come across a book before that embodies topics (to name only a few) ranging from friendship, vision, purpose to systems thinking and financial management. Open this book and your mind and you'll begin to see areas in your life touching each resolution that can stand improvement and without doubt, the improvement will come if you adhere to being a student of these 13 resolutions.

I have grown to love books that challenge me to improve my relationship and leadership skills but the 13 resolutions in this book challenge all of us to intentionally live a life of excellence. This one book can be an outline for your entire life's journey. It has a permanent place on my "repeat reading" shelf.
This book is not the type you read straight through. Each chapter builds on the one before. You might try mastering concept one for a month and slowly work through the book over the course of a year. I wasn't able to devote the thought to each concept at this time so I stopped reading it but my daughter was interested in the concepts and I think it is a good for whole life types of planning.
