A Wordful Child was a super easy read. It's the biography of author George Ella Lyon. It talks about her early life and her journey to becoming a writer. She incorporates the challenges she faced and the places her writing has taken her. I learned that she had such patience when it came to allowing her career to take off, it took eleven years for her first book to be published. She was dedicated and determined to be a writer and that dedication and patience for sure paid off for her. My favorite part of the entire book was her use of personal family photos. This added a great value to the story, seeing pictures of George Ella Lyon in real time, and it made it very personal. The cover itself did a great job of making the biography personable.
This was a very easy to read and understand biography about George Ella Lyon's life and how she became a writer. She did a great job breaking down how she does her writing and where her writing took her. I thought it was interesting how much determination she had to be a writer; I think she must have had great patience to wait 11 years before her first book was published. I also liked how she made her own personal/family stories into books of her own. All the photographs in the book went very well with the text, but I've noticed this in all of the books of hers that I have read.
