Mary Reynolds is not who she thinks she is. At first, her circumstances seem both regrettable and tolerable: the life of a coming of age gal in early nineteenth century America. Her challenges are intriguing enough… but all too soon, reality sets her spinning onto a whole other course.

This book had potential. While the plot sounded intriguing--zombies, magic and Edgar Allen Poe--it turned out to be rather cliched.

The writing wasn't the best, but the atmosphere was well done. There were some creepy moments and I wanted more scenes like those. I wanted a truly dark book, with a romance that gave some glimpse of hope...that wasn't what I got.
