Teenie Greenies board book series. Lift the flaps, rhyming text, simple pictures makes this a great title to share with babies and toddlers. The gardening process is broken down into 1 and 2 words and impressively some of those words (ex. compost) are words that are often missing in other gardening stories for kids.
I love this book! My son is 6 months right now and he loved the beautiful illustrations, but the book has a lot of potential for when he is older. I will reintroduce it when he is 3 or 4 for some fun context when he is learning about gardening, food and our planet earth.
I like the text and illustrations just fine, but my kid is too little to wait for the order of things for me to read it in sequence. A little less enjoyable random access. Also, I don't understand why the flap direction changes, it got a little confusing to point out where to lift.
JAN GERARDI has illustrated many books for children. Teenie Greenies are the first books she has both written and illustrated. She lives in New Jersey with her daughter and three dogs.More about Jan Gerardi...
