I can't seem to get my thoughts together on this one. The main character is absolutely bipolar, but I love her and it works in this book. The other characters are good, but hard to decipher. The overall story line is great. J V K took a very played out general plot ( in terms of a werewolf and vampire fall in love with a human- kinda girl and vie for her affection) and made it unique. Though, if Vivian throws up blood one more time I'm going to start rolling my eyes.
I have to say that the first

Black Lace is a truly original read. I have yet to read another 'vampire' book quite like it. The originality lies directly in the uniqueness of the plot and and storyline. It weaves and twists so quickly, and generally has a very fast pace, so much so that I was out of breath keeping up. The plot development was constantly moving and pushing forward, taking the characters to several intriguing places.

The protagonist, Vivian, is a complex character. She is surrounded by deeply seated issues and

Black Lace is a very fascinating, dark and remarkable book. I was hooked from beginning to end, the characters were interesting, funny, and all around awesome and fun to read about. I especially like the main character Vivian because she was so funny and powerful throughout the story. Vivian knows how to take care of herself and is not afraid to express how she feels. She is a strong, smart, and amazing character and I love her relationship with Micheal. Their relationship in the book goes up an ...more

I was given an e-copy by the author in exchange for my honest review.

Black Lace is an adult paranormal read. It contains lots of adult content. It is different from anything I have read in a while, from the storyline to the characters. This author most defiantly has her own style. There were some editing issues, but to my understanding, the authors first language isn't English, which makes me understand the editing opps here and there. The editing issues did not take away from the story what so

Black Lace is an dark adult paranormal read, that had me hooked from the very beginning. You can really tell the author,J.V.K put alot of hard work into this story. Black Lace is a fast paced story, and is unlike any other Vampire book I have read before. I loved the characters, especialy Micheal. He has a huge heart & just won't give up on Vivian, no matter what she puts him through, I love that about him. Vivian the main character is different, with alot of deep seeded issues. OMG what can't I say about this book????? I love the characters Vivian and Micheal. I love this book!!! I am so glad I get to know this author! This is a piece of art! You can't go wrong with reading this. It is a breathtaking book! I won't say to much because spoilers are bad, but Vivian's story is a must read for everybody who loves the supernatural. One of my favorite quotes: “I’m tired of games. You got me stabbed, cut, shot, dragged, blown up and dead! The least you can do is tell me why th ...more

This book was great! I absolutely loved the story and the way it progressed! Black Lace really grabs your attention from the beginning. It was different...for me anyway...I have never read any story similar to this. There were some grammatical errors throughout the book, but if you can get past them (which was easy for me to do) to read the won't be sorry! :o) After reading one of the other reviews I couldn't believe J.V.K. was only 16 years old when she wrote this story! The book conquers you in a way so hard to explain with words. From the beginning, itself, the characters possess the consciousness and every time I think that the atmosphere will not become more tensely and emotional the author surprises me. New emotions fill me up and I live everything with the characters as if I am in the book alongside them. BLACK LACE is a book that left me without breath until I read the last line and even after it. This is a book that everyone has to read!!!

Its taken me a while to write this review because I honestly struggled with what I would say. And I'm still not sure what to write without leaving spoilers. So I will simply say this...

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Black Lace and I will definitely look out for future instalments in the series. It truly is an original vampire story and is definitely intended for adults. It left me wanting more.

What a deliciously dark and twisted love story! Brilliantly complexed characters pull you in and keep you captivated. Just when you think it can't get any better, the author takes you back to scenes and replays the treasures that you missed! The beginning of an amazing series...a must-read indeed! I can't wait to read the next book in this series! ...more

Black Lace by J.V.K

I want to try something different for this review, I want to start off by giving a little bit of background to the author, when J.V.K wrote Black Lace she was only 16 years old, and also happened to be one of her first books she published in english, for being so young and to venture out into publishing the book in english by herself is really amazing. The reason I wanted to start by giving a little bit of background to her is…. Well let’s just say you need to get your hands o

Black Lace is a story about Vivian, an energetic eighteen year old has been sworn to marry a pure-blooded vampire. J.V.K's works are very different and her writing style is very surreal, like you're moving through the ether, taking a look at her characters in a very abstract way. One thing I like about her is that she writes original concepts - which gives her writing a fresh feeling. Her story telling is original, as if she has truly enjoyed writing what she has conceived on paper. Her characte ...more

Really good start to a series and an interesting take on Vampires and Vampire Hunters. Had me hooked from page one, and found it hard to put down. What makes this book even more impressive is that it was written IN ENGLISH by an amazing Bulgarian author. I am thoroughly impressed by the incredibly high quality of English from a non native writer, as it is seriously hard to write in a language that is not your mother tongue, so congratulations! Would definately recommend as it was an absolutely f ...more

Alot of action in this story with shifters & vampires. Vivian is one bad vampire! She is just a small thing with a very bad attitude! She always carries lots of weapons with her. I really liked this story, it is well written & exciting. With all the action it kees you on edge wondering what`s going to happen next!

I`m back because I have to let you know Vivian is not a vampire. She sure seems like one with the abilities she has! So while I was reading Black Lace it was constantly in the back of m

This book it's a good start for the author. Vivian is a strong & resourceful. Enter the love interest Michael, and the vampire she has been promised to Christian. Michael & Vivian can't be together because of Christian. This story at times left me thinking I missed something. Maybe because english is not the authors first language. In all I found myself wanting to know if Michael & Vivian can finally be together and how will it all plays out. ...more

J.V.K., thank you so much for allowing me to read and review your book, Black Lace. It was truly an enjoyable read.
To the readers, there are many pro’s and con’s to this book, but in the end it’s my advice to keep an open mind and to read this for its positive aspects, which, if you’re at all a fan of vampires and/or werewolves, is reason enough to give it a try.

To begin, it is essential to understand that J.V.K. is a Bulgarian author. As such it might be a bit difficult for English reade

Black Lace tries to create a great new refreshing view of vampires and how their world works, I was quite surprised when I picked it up for free on (eBook).

What made it really hard for me to read after all is: it's not edited -AT ALL.
I read it on my phone and/or on my laptop and on every page are about 2-4 errors, grammar and spelling.
The classic 'were' and 'we're' were not even that bad, but double r, double s, silent e were sometimes ignored, words spelled as they are pronounced, to

Black Lace is an original, quick paced, action packed read that keeps on giving. I have to say that I loved Vivian, she was just the right amount of bitch for me. Her narky and prickly demeanor at times might annoy most readers but hell i'd be pissed off at the world too if I had gone through all that she had in her life.
From the death of her parents to the pressure of being forced into marriage to a vampire, Vivian is left with little choices of her own. And with the introduction of Michael,V

*Spoiler Alert*
So I am kind of confused about this book. At first I thought that it was YA, but I learned very quickly that it wasn't. I wouldn't even say it was NA, I would skip these two and head straight for adult. The book was a bit confusing, sometimes I felt like it jumped around a bit, but that might have just been because the book was not originally published in English. So it might just be that translation. Also there were a few times where the wrong na

"Black Lace" by J.V. K. is a fun filled and action packed Vampire story about an eighteen year old girl, Vivien, whose heritage and supernatural powers are not quite straight forward. In love with a werewolf but promised to an aristocratic Vampire family she has more than the usual teenage problems to deal with. There are some scenes of explicit sexual e ...more

Love this book! Strong female heroine Vivian will have your mind reeling with just her abilities alone. Promised to wed and bare children for high vampire Christian since she was born, Vivian is still free to fall in love with whom she so chooses. Michael, brother of Vivian's best friend Sam, may be who fate chooses for her. Things don't go as planned for all involved. She, Michael, and Christian become connected like no other. Black Lace by J.V.K is a very complex yet fast paced and entertaining read. Its definitely not for children. The opening chapter sealed the deal for me, I love that the main character is a strong willed woman and more than able to kick ass when she needs to, she can be a little caustic at times and sometimes arrogant but you cant really blame her considering the traumatic life she's led. Black Lace has it all, love, sex, werewolves and plenty of action and because of this I'm eagerly awaiting th ...more

J.V.K has indeed shown us an amazing read. what with fasr-paced action, romancing scenes and a young girls will to kill. I liked this piece and it deffinitely did remind me of the Underworld movies, what with the lycanthropes and the vampires, the heroine, the vampire that wants her as his own and vivians supposed betrayal of her species to a lycanthrope.
with this in mind it was dark, full of blood shed and an incredibly enjoyable read. the characters built up through the novel though the storyl

Very unique, this isn’t your typical vampire / werewolf story. I really enjoyed this book but got confused who was in the conversations at times until the conversation was over. With so much going on, this isn’t a book you can read whilst also thinking about other stuff, it needs all your focus, but also means you don’t get bored. Very fast paced, it’s just the start of a very action packed series.

Wow, this is a hard review to write. Did I like this book? Yes, very much! Would I recommend this book to others? Yes, but with some trepidation. This is not a book for kids. This is not a book for those who skim pages. It isn’t for those who want to be spoon fed. This book is for grownups who want to take their time reading and be rewarded for it.

The word usage is odd at points and strained at others, but the story will carry you past it. It is a worthwhile and enjoyable read. If I’m honest, I
