Aunque muy breve, 'La Suerte de Ozu' es un encantador cuento, bellamente ilustrado y con una moraleja llena de sabiduría para niños y adultos.

What might seem as a chance of good luck could turn into one of bad luck or viceversa. The end might be disturbing for parents who want to instill patriotism in their kids, but the final question of Ozu's dad might change the reader's mind about turning down destiny. The story starts when Ozu's horse is missing and Ozu feels it is the worse thing that could have happened to him and his dad. But Ozu changes his mind when his horse comes back with a herd of wild horses. After other episodes of fortunes and misfortunes Ozu is in bed with a broken arm when some soldiers come looking for him to recruit him. And then Ozu thinks that breaking his arm was the best misfortune he could have experienced. To what his dad responds, "Are you sure?"
Beautiful illustrations! I couldn't expect less of Claudia Rueda.
Yes, appropriate for kids 7 years and up but a smart 5 year old could benefit from the challenge of asking "What if?" Vocabulary is simple but the concept might be too advanced to introduce in a beginners Spanish class where you are avoiding using English to translate.
