It is interesting to read a follow up to Kranzler’s previous book “Williamsburg, a Jewish Community in Transition” and compare to see how Williamsburg has changed from the first book to this one penned a generation later. Williamsburg had gone from a fledgling place for holocaust survivors whose future as a Jewish community seemed as bleak as the Lower East Side, to a vibrant part of the social and economic landscape of Brooklyn.
