My review is gonna be very spoilery and probably very confusing so I'm sorry about that 🙊

TW: Very bad representation of physical abuse

So that was ... something 😅
I know it's a short story so you don't have much time to really develop the story but it sounded more like an excuse to write 2 sex scenes than anything else.

So we have 2 characters.
Brady: the doctor who at the beginning lose another patient and he's having (understandably) a mental breakdown because of it and run away.
Garrett: is a gar

Gothic fans, lover of Gargoyles, this is the book for you! There is something about a Gargoyle or in this book; Grotesques that is so sexy to me. Gargoyles are stone creatures created to allow rain to siphon off buildings, like a downspout. Grotesques are stone carvings which do not function as a downspout. See, reading erotic novels are educational. In Ms. Brooke’s Hard as Stone, we meet a guardian watching over Brady. Brady is a trauma surgeon who is burned out. Alone and depressed from the la ...more

*Received from Reading Alley for honest review

Sara Brookes does a great job of telling the story of Brady McDonnell, an emergency room physician with a heart of gold who craves an enigmatic gargoyle named Garrett. Brady wants to save every patient just as most doctors do except when he finds himself on a downward spiral of losing patients one after another, he falls headlong into a depressed, panicked state. Garrett carefully watches him from a distant and figures it is time to stop Brady's self

I had no idea this was a m/m story about a human and a gargoyle. Having said that, the story was short and enjoyable.

Brady McConnell thrives on saving patients in his busy emergency room, but a handful of failures send him tumbling over the edge of sanity. There to catch him is real estate mogul, Garrett Stafford. Brady has always been jealous of Garrett's carefree attitude toward life, love and sex, but through the good and the bad, his sexy-as-hell best friend has always been at Brady's side.

All the money in the world can't buy Garrett the one thing he wants the most--Brady. But seeing Brady broke

The challenge of friends becoming lovers

They finally start to intensify their relationship, but first secrets have to be shared…and Garrett fears that his may be too much to be a

In an interesting variation on the gargoyle legend, this story is about Garrett, a gargoyle, who stands watch over Brady, an ER doctor who feels as though he is failing at his job. The background legend is slightly different form what I have read so far, and that made this version more interesting to me. However, the focus of the story is the developing relationship between the two men, not the paranormal aspects (which I think is a lost opportunity in this story).

Garrett is very lonely; he is n

When I read the blurb for Hard as Stone by Sara Brookes, I knew I just had to read it. It’s quite a treat for me when an author uses my favorite paranormal creature – gargoyles that is. I find them very sad and romantic. To have to sit over the city and watch the world pass them by while they guard ever the silent protectors - which is exactly what Garrett is. This quick read was sweet and romantic…and yes it was hot. The relationship between Garrett and Brady is simple and sweet and I was more ...more
