FOUR FROGS, FOUR KISSES, ONE TRU LOVE. Valentine's Day with a twist in this clever novelty. When Princess Polly wishes for the perfect Valentine's Day prince, four frogs rise to the challenge. Will any of them prove the frog of her dreams? As each hops up for a smooch, he is indeed turned into a prince--just not the right one. When the princess puckers up for the fourth time, however, the frog remains a frog--but it's the princess who begins to change. Die-cut pages really change frogs into princes and back again in this ingenious novelty book.
I thought this book was hilarious--and so did my daughters. So much giggling ensued. (Don't read the book's description on Goodreads--it's full of spoilers!) The book also has a very fun design for a picture book, with the die cut pages and the way it adds physical and metaphorical layers to the story.
Cute enough. It's the Shrek version of the enchanted prince story—turns out the princess is actually a frog under a spell. The twist is nice, for the reminder that being the pretty blonde princess isn't always what's right for everyone, but other than that, it's still a princess-looking-for-her-prince story.
