George Daniel's book can sit on the coffee table. Not only is it a definitive source of nymphing instruction, it's full of beautiful pictures and drawings that are just fun to page through. I read through it completely and often need to reread sections because there's so much valuable information. It teaches fly selection, casting technique, various leader recipes, and how to fish in various water conditions. I highly recommend it for anyone trying to uplift their fly fishing enjoyment. ...more

Good book on general nymphing. Been fly fishing and 90% of the time is nymphing and I picked up a few skills and ideas that made it well worth it to me.

I also had new fly fishermen read this book.

Solid read for experienced stream/fly fisherman. Not for the beginner by any means.
George is loaded with knowledge and specialized tactics. Especially in Pennsylvania.

Look I am a fly-fisherman, I will read almost anything on the subject in the same way that I will drown a worm in a muddy rain puddle if that is all there is to be had on the fishing front.

Was this book useful? Yes undoubtedly it was and did I enjoy readying it? Of that I am not quite so sure.

There were a few points made which I tend to disagree with, but that said there was a lot of information which I found interesting and quite possibly very useful. It is a book that you should read if you

This is an excellent book that goes over the basics as well as advanced techniques for modern nymphing. The author explores nymphing styles that breath life into the sport and go far beyond the classic and mind numbing - strike indicator bob up and down stuff. It has great photos that break down casting, what nymphs to fish, and how to fish different water types. This book makes you want to go fishing and tie your own confidence flies. That's the best a fly fishing book can accomplish. I've had ...more

This book was recommended to me as the most up-to-date and comprehensive work on modern nymphing methods available today. It definitely was all that and more.

If you want romance, read 'A River Runs Through It'. If you want to catch more trout than everyone else, read this book.

This book has a broad range of information on different nymphing techniques, from czech nymphing to fishing a dry and dropper. Lots of great suggestions on leader building and building sighters into a leader too.
