Che: The Photobiography of Che Guevara
Beautiful book of never seen before photos of the human side of Che Guevara. The quality of the photographs and their subject matter are first class. There are many of his childhood, an example of his first writing as a child, a copy of part of the "infamous" letter written to Fidel, the photo that appeared in the newspaper about the two "Leprosy Experts" during the Motorcycle Diaries period, Che's passport photo, in which the Cuban Secret Service disguised him as a middle aged man so as to ensure his passage to Bolivia, the photo of him lying there, dead, with his eyes open ...

Absolutely amazing book, with rare Che photos - some of which I've never seen before. However, speaking as someone who absolutely adores Ernesto Guevara de la Serna — the biography itself is kind of a glaze. Since this is a coffee table type book it's understandable why the publishers wanted to avoid certain subjects, but I still find it funny how it presented Che as the one pursuing Hilda, when it was the other way around — he only married her because she was having his child. Then, the biography completely omits he had his affair with Aleida before he divorced Hilda. Can't have my man looking too thirsty, I guess.
Still, 5/5 for the amazing photos. Would recommend for anyone who loves Che and Cuban history.

Lovely little book with several never before seen pictures and photographs of Che, along with the author's rather modest attempt of patching up an accompanying biography. My favorite picture has to be that of Che fully clad in kente upon his arrival in Accra in 1965. Never thought I'd see the day Che of all people, wears a kente cloth- that was beautiful :)

I have always been fascinated by Che Guevera. This book is definitely written by someone that admired him. Realizing that this is not the common attitude among those that lived during the Cuban Missle Crisis and the Cold War, the author produces amazing primary source documents and photos to prove his worth. Cuba even opened up it's Che photo archives to the author! Whether you liked Che or not you have to admit he is sure good looking! Truly, though you have to look at his upper-class upbringing and his will to help those who had nothing. Even if that assistance cost him his life. Very interesting man. Read this book and then read another so you can make up your own mind about Che Guevera!
