You Can’t Run
In the book, You Can’t Run there is a girl called Robyn. Robyn is on a mystery to find a dangerous gang called the snakeheads. The snakeheads are a Chinese gang that smuggles people illegally to other countries by sending the people in a crate on a boat. On the way to find more about the snakeheads Robyn and her friend Morgan are kidnapped by two people called Ling-Kung and Phillip. However, there two men with a gun and took all four of them to a warehouse. Soon after that, there was an explosion in the warehouse there was a massive fight between the police and the two men but in the end, Morgan and Robyn were safe. The setting is in California US and it was in 2006. There were three main characters in this story. Those characters were Robyn Hunter, Nick, and Morgan. Robyn Hunter is the main protagonist in this story she is smart, brave, always calm even in tough situations and curious. Despite the fact she is brave and calm, she is sometimes scared. The second main character is Nick. Nick is always up to dangerous and illegal work but despite the fact he is a criminal he is Robyn’s boyfriend. Nick is smart, stony hearted, secretive and sensitive. In the book, Nick is the strongest character. The last main character is Morgan. Morgan is nice but also she acts a bit jerky. She is Robyn’s best friend she is sensitive, curious and she acts a bit bossy.
Firstly in the book Robyn is looking for Nick in a parade. Nick was standing in front with a pink hat and with an envelope. When Robyn asked him why is he dressed like that, Nick tells Robyn politely to go but Robyn doesn’t listen and her curiosity continues after 5 minutes of Robyn questioning Nick, he finally states that he has collected money from other shops and he is going to give it to man. Although, he didn’t state why he was doing this. After that he started to question Nick why he was doing this. As a result of so many questions, Nick got angry and had an argument with her. In the end, Nick insults Robyn and her walks away crying about the insult. 2 minutes later Morgan joined her and they were chatting. Suddenly a man stole Robyn’s backpack both of the girls started chasing him but suddenly on the way, a man with a scarf points a gun at Robyn and tells her to stop chasing the man.
In my opinion, I mainly like the book because of its action packed moments and how they make the action survive longer in the book. I also like how they use a lot of extensive vocabulary because it teaches me new words. At times the book was confusing because it didn’t describe the plot to well. I also liked the ending because everything was solved and the conflict was over and everyone was happy with each. The book was not that hard to read because usually the words were really simple but sometimes I had ask someone about 3 or 4 words I didn’t understand in the book but later on I understood it. The most favorite part of the book was when Morgan and Robyn were kidnapped and how the police busted in and had a major gun fight with them. The main I reason this part is because it was finished in 5 minutes but the authors style of writing made it seem like it lasted for a long time. One book I can make a connection is TinTin because he is also a young child that is interested in mysteries and gets caught but escapes.
In my opinion, this book is rated 4.5/5 stars I think this book deserves this amount of stars because of its extensive use of vocabulary and how the author also shows sympathy for the girl sometimes by stating how defenseless and how she is badly injured. I also think that this book deserves 4.5 stars because how they describe the plot really well and how the author describes what feeling each character is going through. I recommend this book to students because they can learn new vocabulary from the book. I also recommended because of its well-balanced genres of love, action and thriller. One more reason I recommend this book to other students is that they will have a huge interest when they start reading the book.
