Short story.
Alexa is a half-breed "mixie" lion shifter and she's in heat. She's at the airport when Jay, a pure-breed, sees her in need and offers her his services. He's the future Alpha and it's apparently what unmated male lion shifter do, "help" the unmated females during their heat or the females endure incredible pain.
Alexa, very aware of her status in the pack (her family is constantly reminding her she is worth nothing), that is to say none, shoots down his offer. But later at home she has so much pain that she gives in and calls Jay for his help.
Jay arrives only to find her delirious with pain and no matter what he does it doesn't stop. Then Alexa's lioness starts speaking to him, which shouldn't be possible if she is a mixie.
Turns out that she is actually a pure-bred and dominant at that, but her step-dad had put an implant in her keep her from ever shifting and lying to her about her abilities. Apparently he knew she was dominant and that "shamed" him, so he crippled her. Yeah, it didn't make a lot of sense to me either.
So the implant is removed, Jay mates with Alexa--permanent style--and she is accepted into Jay's pack while her family is punished.
Since the story was too short there wasn't a lot of plot or character development. There was a lot of sex and everything was very rushed.

I really need to stop reading these short stories.... And this was pretty damn short...which means next to no character development....though the hero does come off as pretty slutty, almost no world building, and not a whole lotta story either...so really there's not a whole hell of a lot I can say...um...it's sorta choppy, like it reads kinda sorta like a script, where it keeps going from one scene to the next without any transitions. Eh, heat level's like a 3 I guess,
Oh there was one bit that didn't make sense...and its spoiler-y so I'm using the tags...
Yeah, I don't think I'll be reading this author again...unless of course she writes a longer, well panned out story, with mre of...well, everything.

Lions, Oh My!
Lovely little lion shifter story.
Alexa has been told all her life that she is a mixee (non purebred) and can't shift. Her stepfather and stepbrothers have belittled her as well and she thinks she is weak because that is all she has heard her whole life.
But what if none of that is true?
Jay, the Alpha's first born son comes across Alexa in the airport. She is in heat and he wants her badly. He doesn't care if she is mixee or not, he just wants her regardless.

Naked, willing and unable to calm her "mixie" half-breed self, Alexa calls on a stranger from the airport to help her through this maddening time. Little does Jay know that he's found his one.

This was a cute short story about two shape shifters finding their mates. There was a bit of action, which I always like. It was a nice quick read on a relaxing Memorial Day.
